MARION PAULSON Marion Paulson was diagnosed with breast cancer right on the heels of her divorce in 1987. She decided to go through treatment while continuing her studies and eventually fully recovered.

Becoming a Carlisle Stylist completely changed her life. “It took off so quickly and it was so much fun,” Marion said, “It was so right for me at the time because it meant I could stay home, raise my kids and have a business and not have to be in a full-time job.”

When Carlisle chose to support the Susan G. Komen Foundation, being a Stylist became even more personal for Marion, truly giving fashion a meaning beyond clothing. The Fabric of Hope scarves are beautifully crafted and a great way to spread breast cancer awareness. “There isn’t a [client] who doesn’t respond to that,” Marion said, “And this business is all about women and feeling beautiful.”

Through Carlisle, Marion found her place with people, fashion and her personal cause. “The ability to have my own business on my own terms with people I know and enjoy, it’s just perfect.”

LESLIE ROBERTS Leslie Roberts was first touched by the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the Fabric of Hope in 1999 when her friend was diagnosed with breast cancer.

The second time Leslie was touched by cancer was when she herself was diagnosed in 2010. A true breast cancer survivor, she took the experience as a positive lesson in life: “It was very impactful in my life. There were a lot of lessons that came with that.”

She spent a lot of time healing from within, appreciating her body more and being at peace with losing her breasts through a double mastectomy. She took time mending and reconnecting with her family and friends.

A Carlisle Stylist for 30 years, Leslie is passionate about the Fabric of Hope scarf by Carlisle and eager to have her clients see it. “My clients really like it. They will always buy it as a gift for someone.”

COLEMAN HOOPER “An entrepreneur, a grandmother, a mother, a wife, a sister -- we’ve all been affected by breast cancer,” says Coleman Hooper who has been a Carlisle Stylist for 24 years.

Coleman has never had breast cancer, but she is a thyroid cancer survivor -- and she knows a thing or two about health, women and empowerment. She reflects back to when her grandmother underwent a double mastectomy, which was her only option then. Now with powerful organizations like the Susan G. Komen Foundation, there are more options and ways to detect cancer at an early stage.“The foundation has given women the opportunity to get their priorities straight and continue to live.”

Through our partnership with Susan G. Komen, Coleman is able to spread awareness. “Clients are so appreciative that we have chosen this charity. And it’s not just a pretty scarf – it’s more meaningful than just a piece of cloth.”

STEPHANIE MCNAMARA When Stephanie McNamara’s husband passed away, Carlisle gave her the opportunity to work from home while taking care of her child. Becoming an entrepreneur, she found a way to give back to the community through the Susan G. Komen Foundation. “Susan G. Komen is the perfect fit for Carlisle. It’s about women who are business owners doing things for women. Breast cancer touches everyone -- mothers, sisters, brothers, and fathers.”

Not only do the Fabric of Hope scarves spread awareness, but the scarf each year has also helped donate over 2 million dollars to the foundation. “Our clients react very positively.”

CAROL BENTLEY Carol Bentley is not a breast cancer survivor but she did have a close friend who was affected by the disease. “Breast cancer affects us all, whether we’ve had it or not,” she said.

Carol gave her friend a scarf from the Fabric of Hope Collection, a gift that was marked with meaning, hope and love. Even those who have not been personally affected by breast cancer always appreciate the scarves and the purpose behind the designs. “The scarves are always so beautiful.”
