Assay Transfer to a beaker about 500mg of Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium, accurately weighed add 80ml of glacial acetic acid, heat the mixture on a boiling water bath for 2 hours, cool to room

temperature, and titrate with 0.1 N perchloric acid VS, determining the endpoint potentiometrically.

Each ml of 0.1N perchloric acid is equivalent to 2.299mg of Na.

Carboxymethylcellulose sodium contains not less than 6.5 percent and not more than 9.5 percent of

sodium (Na) , as calculated on the dried weight basis.
