Card Activation

Your SyndicateBank Global Debit Card will be activated within two working days after the Card &PIN Mailer are received by you from the Branch.

Your first transaction through this card or signature at the Branch for receipt of the card & PIN Mailers will be treated as your acknowledgement of receipt of the card and acceptance of Terms and Conditions of SyndicateBank Global Debit Card.

Convenience that you carry with you

SyndicateBank Debit Card is very simple to use. Whenever you perform any domestic or international transaction with your card, your account is directly debited on-line and in real-time.

You can get three of your accounts with same Customer ID (of same Branch or different CBS branches) linked to the debit card as per your convenience.

You can withdraw cash from any of your linked accounts through “Withdrawal Mode” from any of the ATMs of SyndicateBank. However, only Primary Account would be accessed for transactions under “Fast Cash” in our Bank ATM, other Bank ATMs. Merchant Establishments (MEs) and for e-commerce transactions.

You can use your Debit Card up to the available balance in your account at ATMs and/ or MEs and for e-Commerce, subject to following limits (or equivalent foreign currency abroad)

Safety tips for using your Debit Card Please perform your first transaction preferably through any ATM of

SyndicateBank, where you have the option of changing your PIN.

Sign on the signature panel provided on the reverse of the card immediately on receipt.

PLEASE REGISTER YOUR MOBILE NUMBER WITH THE BRANCH IF NOT ALREADY DONE. SMS Alerts for Card transactions are free.

Retraction of Cash is disabled. Kindly collect the cash and wait for “Welcome” screen to appear in the ATM, to ensure that your transaction is completed and logged out.

Ensure that no one except you, has access to your Card or PIN.

For personalized Cards, please verify whether your name is printed correctly on the face of the card. If not, take up with your Branch of Issue.

Safeguard your card like your cash, jewels etc. to prevent any misuse. Notify us immediately, if it is lost, stolen or misplaced.

Do not bend or scratch the card, particularly the magnetic strip on the reverse of the card.

Do not keep your card near electro-magnetic devices, or expose it to heat or direct sunlight.

Quote your 14-Digit Account No. in every correspondence with the Bank.

Make sure the arrow is pointing towards the card slot before inserting the card in the ATM.

Keep your PIN secret. Memorize your PIN and destroy the PIN Mailer for security reasons. Never keep it with your card or never write it on the card and do not record it anywhere in writing.

Use your body to shield the ATM keyboard / PoS/ EDC machine at MEs, while entering the PIN to ensure that no one can see your PIN.

Avoid using an ATM, if you sense any abnormal/ suspicious behavior by person(s), in and around the ATM.

Enter your PIN carefully and correctly without mistake. In order to prevent fraudulent use, only three attempts to re-enter the PIN are provided. Thereafter, the card will be disabled for further operations and you need to take up with your Home Branch for enabling the same.

Do not take help from strangers/ even security guard in carrying out an ATM transaction.

Bank does not call for Card/ PIN/ Account details. DO NOT divulge the details even if somebody claims to call from the Bank.

Ensure that Merchant swipes the Card only once in PoS/ EDC and that too in your presence. In case of any doubts, immediately contact your card issuing Branch to know the details of debits.

In case of cancellation of a transaction already done through your card at any Merchant Establishment, insist and obtain a VOID transaction slip generated by the PoS terminal.

You may receive ‘phishing e-mails’ (also known as ‘carding’ or ‘brand spoofing’) asking you to visit certain internet sites, which resemble existing legitimate sites of Bank or other e-Commerce sites to trick you into divulging personal financial information (such as Bank Account or Card Nos, ATM PIN, or other personal identifiers), which will be used to commit frauds.- Don’t fall prey to them. Please do not respond to phishing e-mails and never access fraudulent websites mentioned in the e-mail. Neither RBI/ VISA/ MasterCard/ NPCI nor Bank would contact you by e-mail or phone seeking your personal or confidential information.

If you receive such e-mails and/ or phone request, please report the incident immediately to your Home Branch.

If you suspect having disclosed confidential information to a fraudulent website, please contact our 24 hour Helpline immediately to get your card hot listed.

There is a time-out for response to any request in an ATM, please

quickly respond to the request displayed on screen.

You may also install Bank’s mobile application “Synd e-Passbook” to keep track of your accounts/transactions on a real time basis.

Terms & Conditions:

I. Definitions:

a. These terms and conditions shall be known as “Terms and conditions governing SyndicateBank Global Debit Card” and shall come into force with immediate effect.

b. In these terms and conditions, “The Bank” means SyndicateBank, a body constituted under the Banking Companies (Acquisition & Transfer of Undertaking) Act 1970, having its Head Office at Manipal (Karnataka State, India) and Corporate Office at Bangalore (Karnataka State, India) and includes its successors and assignees.

c. “The Issuer” in relation to Cardholder means the SyndicateBank.

d. “Cardholder” refers to the Accountholder of SyndicateBank or any such person authorized by the Accountholder to whom a Card has been issued and who is authorized to hold the Card.

e. “Card or Debit Card” refers to SyndicateBank Domestic/ Global Debit Card issued by the Bank from time to time. “The add-on card” means a SyndicateBank Debit Card issued to the Joint account holder on the specific written request of the cardholder.

f. “Account” refers to the Cardholder’s CASA account or any other type of account nominated by the cardholder and approved by the Bank.

g. “Primary account” means first of the account/s (opened under the same customer ID) to which card is issued, as described above, which will be normally debited for transactions, performed using the card. Other CASA accounts linked to the card are called “Secondary Accounts”.

h. “Nominated accounts” include primary account and it indicates account nominated in writing and approved by the Bank to be accessed by Debit Card.

i. “ATM” means any Automated Teller Machine in India or abroad, whether owned by SyndicateBank or any other Bank on a shared Network, at which, amongst other things, the customer can use Debit Card to access his/ her accounts held with SyndicateBank.

j. “Micro-ATM” means a hand held device used by Business Correspondents appointed by the Bank.

k. “PIN” means Personal Identification Number allocated to the customer by the Bank or chosen by the Cardholder from time to time, which is required to access ATMs in India or abroad or at PoS terminals.

l. “Transaction” means an instruction given by a Cardholder to the Bank, effected by a Card Holder’s use of the Debit Card directly or indirectly

m. “International transaction” means transaction carried out by the Cardholder in any centre other than India, Nepal & Bhutan.

n. “Merchant” or “Merchant Establishment” shall mean such physical and/or virtual establishments, wherever located, which honor a RuPay/ VISA / VISA Electron card or MasterCard and shall include, among others, stores, shops, restaurants, hotels and airlines cash advance points including ATMs and mail order advertisers (whether retailers, distributors or manufacturers), the Bank/s have approved

and made arrangements with, to accept and honour cards, for the sale of goods and services to cardholders.

o. “Merchant” means any person who owns or manages or operates a Merchant Establishment (ME).

p. “EDC” means any Electronic Data Capture terminal, printers other peripherals and accessories including PIN pads and necessary software to run the devices.

q. “PoS” means Point of Sale terminals whether of SyndicateBank or any other Bank on a shared network at which, amongst other things, the cardholder uses his/her Debit Card to access funds in his/her account held with SyndicateBank.

r. “VISA” or “VISA Electron” means a trademark owned by and normally associated with M/s VISA International.

s. “Shared Network” means VISA/ MasterCard/ RuPay or any other networks which honor the Card.

t. “VISA/ Plus ATM Network” means ATMs that honour the Debit Card and that display the VISA/ Plus or Electron Symbols.

u. “MasterCard ATM Network” means ATMs that honour the Debit Card and that display the MasterCard and Maestro Symbols.

v. “RuPay” is the Trademark wholly owned by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). NPCI has a tie up with “Discover Financial” “Diners Club International” and few other networks for international acceptance of its cards.

w. “Force Majeure Event” means any event such as fire, earth quake, flood, epidemic, strike, lockout, labor controversy, industrial disputes, riot, civil disturbance, war, civil commotion, natural disasters, Acts of God, failure or delay of any transportation agency, or any other furnisher of essential supplies or other facilities, omissions and acts of public authorities preventing or delaying performance of obligation relating to acts of public authorities including changes in Law, or other regulatory authority acts beyond the control of the Bank, or for any other reasons which cannot reasonably be forecast/foreseen or provided against, and which cannot be predicted by men of ordinary prudence.

x. “Technical Problem” means any problems or difficulties arising due to the power and electricity failure, computer errors, programming errors, software or hardware errors, computer breakdown, unavailability of Internet connections, communication problems between Network’s server and any ATM, the Bank’s server and ATM network, shutting down of the shared Network or the Bank’s servers, unavailability of links, corruption of the computer software, problems in ATM or any other service providers’ infrastructure and telecommunication network, problems in any other telecommunication network and any other technology-related problems.

Bank shall exercise care when issuing PINs or codes and shall be under an obligation not to disclose the cardholder’s PIN or code, except to the cardholders.

Bank shall be responsible for direct losses incurred by a cardholder due to a system malfunction directly within the bank’s control.

The bank shall not be held liable for any loss caused by a technical breakdown of the payment system if the breakdown of the system was recognizable for the cardholder by a message on the display of the device or otherwise known.

The responsibility of the bank for the non-execution or defective execution of the transaction is limited to the principal sum and the loss of interest subject to the provisions of the law governing the terms.

II. Applicability of Rules and Regulations:

1. The issue and use of card shall be subject to the terms & conditions of SyndicateBank Debit Card and the Rules & Regulations in force from time to time issued by the Reserve Bank of India, SyndicateBank and FEMA, 1999.

2. Utilization of the card shall be strictly in accordance with Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), 1999 and any other law and/or regulation in force from time to time. In the event of failure to comply with the said rules, the cardholder is solely liable for action under the FEMA and may be debarred from holding the Debit Card from SyndicateBank at the instance of the Bank or RBI or any other Regulatory Authority.

III. Card validity and Cardholder’s obligations:

1. The card is valid for use in India/ India and abroad (on request).

2. The card is valid up to the end of the month & year printed on the card unless cancelled/ invalidated/ hotlisted earlier. On expiry/ earlier cancellation/ invalidation/ hotlisting, the card must be destroyed by cutting into two or more pieces.

3. The card shall be valid only for transactions permitted by the Bank, RBI and any other Regulatory Authority from time to time in India and abroad. Please note that foreign exchange transactions are not allowed in Nepal & Bhutan.

4. Issuance fee at the prevailing rate will be levied at the time of issuance of the card which will be collected by debiting to the account for each of the card issued to the account. Annual fee will be collected from second year of issuance, every year, during the month in which the card was originally issued. The fees are subject to revision by the Bank from time to time.

5. The Debit Card issued will always be the property of the Bank and shall be returned unconditionally & immediately to the Bank upon request by the Bank without assigning any reasons.

6. The Debit Card is not transferable or assignable by the cardholder under any circumstances.

7. Signature on the card has no relation to the specimen signature lodged with the Bank for operation for his/ her account/s.

8. Cardholder’s nominated/ primary account will be debited immediately with the amount of any withdrawal or transfer and other transactions effected by the use of the card except during off-line conditions.

9. The cardholder shall maintain sufficient funds in the account to meet any offline transactions where amount is not debited immediately. Present offline limit is ` 5000/-.

10. The Cardholder shall not be entitled to overdraw his/ her account/s with SyndicateBank or withdraw funds by using Debit Card in excess of any agreed overdraft limit. The Bank reserves the right to withdraw the overdraft facility and recall the Card/ advance immediately if such overdrawal occurs.

11. It is the cardholder’s personal liability to keep the card in safe custody to prevent loss and misuse. Cardholder shall memorize the PIN and should not share the Card , PIN and OTP related details to anyone including family members.

12. The cardholder will be responsible for transactions effected by the use of card, whether authorized by the cardholder or not, and shall indemnify the Bank against any loss or damage caused by any unauthorized use of the card or related PIN, including any action arising there from on account of any violation of RBI guidelines

or rules under FEMA Act, 1999 or any other law being in force in India and/or any other Country/State/Continent/Territory wherever located in the world at the time notwithstanding the termination of this agreement.

13. The transactions under this Debit Card shall be strictly in conformity with the guidelines under FEMA Act and will not be designed for the purpose of any contravention or evasion of the provisions of the FEMA or any rule, regulation, notification, direction or order made there under from time to time and for any violations cardholder is directly and personally liable to appropriate authorities.

IV. ATM Usage

1. The Debit Card is accepted at all ATMs of SyndicateBank, NFS member Banks’ ATM and all ATMs displaying respective logo/ sticker of the card network like VISA/ MasterCard/ RuPay in India and worldwide (International/ Global Debit Cards).

2. The Cardholder can perform all the functionalities made available by the Bank in its own ATMs across the country.

3. The Cardholder can utilize ATMs of other Banks displaying the RuPay (abroad usage in networks provided elsewhere in the document)/ VISA/ Master logo across the world to withdraw cash and for balance enquiry purposes. However, the Bank will not be liable for any deficiency in services offered by other Banks’ ATMs.

4. Usage of card in ATMs is upon physical insertion of the card in the slot of the ATM and keying in the required PIN.

5. There will be separate charge levied, announced by the Bank from time to time, for availing services through ATMs. The Bank shall deduct from the Cardholders’ account all such service charges, either at the time of transaction or at a later date. The cardholders expressly agree to waive notice of such changes/ modifications in levy/ collections of service charges.

6. The Bank will not be liable for any deficiency in services or to perform any obligation there under where such failure is attributable, directly or indirectly to any malfunction of the ATM or the Card, third party dependencies, temporary insufficiency of funds, any dispute or other circumstances beyond control.

7. When the card is used at any other shared ATM, the Bank will not accept responsibility for any dealings the cardholder may have with the other institutions including but not limited to such services. The cardholder should notify the Bank of such dispute immediately and not later than 30 days.

8. There will be separate service charges levied for withdrawal from other Bank ATMs that will be fixed by the Bank from time to time and debited to the cardholder’s account linked to the card at the time of making such transactions.

9. The availability of ATM services in a country other than that in which the card was issued is governed by the local regulations in force in the said country. SyndicateBank will not be liable directly/ indirectly, if these services are withdrawn or charged to Cardholders account

10. The printed output that is produced at the time of operation of the ATMs is record of the ATMs and shall not be construed as the Bank’s record. The Bank’s record of transactions shall be accepted as conclusive and binding for all purposes.

Procedure for Card usage at ATMsA. At SyndicateBank ATMs:

Enter the PIN by shielding the ATM screen with your body

Select your transaction option Viz. Fast Cash, Cash withdrawal, Balance Enquiry, Mini Statement (last 10 transactions), Funds Transfer, Cash Deposit or PIN change.

In case of Cash withdrawal, enter the amount that you wish to withdraw. This should be within the transaction limits mentioned earlier subject to the balance available in your account. Cardholder can opt to receive a printed Receipt for his transaction using the Card.

On approval, you will receive your cash.

On completion of the transaction, Cardholder will receive the ATM Receipt / transaction slip with the available amount shown in the Receipt.

When you opt for “Fast Cash”, Primary Account would be debited. Under Cash Withdrawal option, accounts linked to your Card would be displayed for selection.

Cash Retraction is disabled in ATMs. Please wait until you collect cash and Welcome screen appears.

B. At Other Bank/ VISA/MasterCard/RuPay ATMs:

Some ATMs may require you to select the Account type (i.e. Savings or Current/Cash Credit). All other options/ requirements will generally be the same as that of SyndicateBank ATMs.

For all the transactions performed at shared Network ATMs (VISA/ MasterCard/ RuPay) & PoS terminal transactions, only the Primary Account linked to your card will be accessed.

C. At Micro ATMs:

Micro ATMs are operated by Business Correspondents appointed by Banks for specific area, normally where Banks do not have Branches.

Cash limits will vary from Bank to Bank, which will be much lower than the ATM cash withdrawal limits.

In our Bank’s Micro ATMs, maximum amount of ̀ 5000/- can be drawn per occasion and per day.

Card Usage outside India Card is valid for only Rupee transactions in Nepal and Bhutan.

You can use your Global ATM card in all other countries, excepting Nepal and Bhutan, for Cash withdrawal in ATMs & purchases at MEs in respective local currencies. Yet, your account would be debited in Indian Rupees only.

All transactions with this card outside the country are governed by Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), 1999 rules or such other rules/ guidelines issued by RBI/Govt. of India from time to time. Please be guided by the provisions of FEMA,1999 or any rule, regulation, notification , direction or order made there under from time to time while transacting with this card, as it is your sole responsibility to adhere to the same.

V. Personal Identification Number (PIN)

1. The card is operational with the help of confidential Personal Identification Number (PIN) at all ATM locations, Micro ATMs and MEs through PoS/ EDC.

2. The Bank shall send/ deliver the PIN number in a sealed envelope separately to the Cardholder for first time operation of the ATM. In

case the PIN Mailer is received in a mutilated, open or damaged condition, the cardholder shall return the same immediately to the Card Issuing Branch for issue of new PIN.

3. Please tear at perforation to know your PIN and “do not scratch” the dark portion. Memorise and destroy the PIN Mailer.

4. It would be the Cardholder’s obligation to change the PIN number periodically to ensure its confidentiality.

5. The cardholder shall neither keep a record nor divulge the PIN to anyone. Any such act done by the cardholder will be at his/ her own risk and responsibility and the Bank will in no way be responsible/ liable for any direct/ indirect or consequential loss to the Cardholder due to such act. The cardholder will be fully responsible for any misuse of the card through any ATM/ Micro ATM or PoS/EDC due to such act.

VI. Usage at Merchant Establishments:

1. Present your SyndicateBank Debit Card after making your purchases or availing services from the ME accepting the card where the network’s logo is displayed (VISA/ MasterCard/ RuPay).

2. ME will make a few quick checks and then swipe your card in an Electronic Terminal (EDC machine) if it is a magstripe card or insert if it is a Chip Card and enter the amount of your purchase.

3. Enter the PIN (used for ATM transactions), covering the keypad.

4. On approval, the terminal will print out a transaction slip (called charge slip) containing the details of your purchase like card number, amount and date of transaction etc.

5. Verify the details on the charge slip and sign at the appropriate place on the slip to authenticate the transaction. Wherever PIN validation is done, signature is not necessary. In India, PIN is compulsory for all Debit Cards.

6. Once your card is swiped/ inserted, PIN entered & transaction is authorized by the systems, payments towards such transactions cannot be stopped later.

7. Remember to collect your card after the transaction is over.

8. Please retain the copy of the bill and charge slip handed over to you by the ME to verify whether the transaction is reflected correctly in your account.

9. Should the Cardholder choose to disagree with amount debited to his account, the same should be communicated to the Bank/ Issuer within 15 days of the transaction date, failing which it would be construed that all charges are in order.

10. The Cardholder must retain his own copy of the charge slips. Copies of charge slips will not normally be provided by the Bank/ issuer. However at its discretion and upon customer request, the Bank/ Issuer may obtain from the acquirer and provide copies thereof if request is received in writing within 30 days from the date of transaction, subject to an additional fee, which is subject to change at the discretion of the Bank / Issuer.

11. No extra charges/ surcharge can be levied for making payment through your Debit Card, except for use at PETROL PUMPS, RAILWAY STATIONS, IRCTC, payments to Government Departments, where surcharge shall be levied as per Industry practices, debit of which will be done at a later date on receipt of intimation from the acquiring Bank.

12. No cash deposit is permitted through EDC/ PoS terminals using Debit Card. Cash withdrawal of `2000/- (Tier-4 to Tier-7) or `1000/- (Tier-1 to Tier-3) depending on the type of city is permitted through EDC/PoS terminals.

13. The Bank is not responsible for any limitations/ defect in the quality of goods/ services available/ rendered at MEs.

14. The Debit card is meant for electronic use only. Electronic use is construed as the charge slip/ transaction slip generated electronically from the EDC/ PoS terminal. Usage of Debit card in any other manner shall be considered as unauthorized use and the cardholder shall be solely liable for the same.

15. Though the MEs are expected to honour valid card, the Bank shall not be liable for loss or inconvenience, if any, caused to the cardholder.

16. The Bank shall not accept any responsibility for any dealings the ME may have with the cardholder, including but not limited to supply of goods/ services. The cardholder shall resolve any dispute with the ME on his own.

17. The Bank accepts no responsibility for any charges over and above the value/ cost of transactions levied by any ME and debited to cardholder’s account. As per the network guidelines, ME is not permitted to levy any additional charges.

18. A purchase and subsequent cancellation are two separate transactions. Such refunds shall be credited to the cardholder’s account subsequently after due verification and as per RuPay/ MasterCard/ VISA rules and regulations.

19. The cardholder agrees that any debits received during the time of transaction will be honoured based only on the available balance in the account without considering the pending refund. The cardholder also indemnifies the Bank from acts of dishonouring the payment instructions in such circumstances. If the amount is not credited within 30 days of such cancellation, the cardholder should notify the Bank along with a copy of the credit slip issued by the ME.

20. For payments at MEs, the primary account of the cardholder only will be debited. In case of insufficient funds in this account, such transactions would be declined, even though there might be sufficient balance in other accounts individually/ collectively.

21. The cardholder shall make payments only on the basis of the bill and advised not to make payments in advance before completion of purchase transaction/ services.

22. The bank reserves the right and the cardholder agrees inter alia for the disclosure and share and receive from other institutions, credit referencing bureaus, agencies, statutory executive, judicial and regulatory authorities whether on request or under an order there from, and on such terms and conditions as may be deemed fit by the Bank or otherwise, such information concerning the cardholder’s account as may be necessary or appropriate in connection with its participation in any Electronic Funds Transfer network. The bank also reserves the right of disclosure of information to third parties about the bank account of the cardholder or the transactions done through the use of the card where it is so necessary for completing transactions and/ or when necessary to comply with law or government agency or court orders or legal proceedings and/or when necessary to resolve errors or to resolve other matters.

23. Any Government charges, Duty or debits, or Tax payable as a result of the use of the card shall be borne by the cardholders and if imposed upon the Bank (either directly or indirectly), the Bank shall debit such charges, duty or tax to the cardholders account on receipt of demand subsequently from the acquiring Bank.

VII. Features of the Debit Card

The Bank may from time to time, at its discretion, offer various features on the Debit Card in tie up with various agencies on a best effort basis only. The Bank will not be responsible for any deficiency or usefulness of the products or services offered by any service provider/ merchants/ outlets/ agencies. The cardholder shall settle such disputes, if any, with such merchants/ agencies etc., related to services/ delivery of goods, etc directly without involving the Bank.

VIII. Loss/ Stolen / Copying of the Card

1. In case your card is lost/ stolen/ misused or you have information that the card has been unauthorizedly copied, please notify the same to the Bank immediately. You can utilize 24 hour Customer Service 1800 425 0585/ 080-25125300/ 9483522433 to notify the loss/ theft/ misuse of the card for blocking further operations of such act as per the procedure laid down.

2. You can also notify the loss/ theft of your card to your Card Issuing Branch. Your card will be hot listed, after verification, to prevent any further misuse.

3. In case your card is found to have been misused, please file a complaint with the local police for loss, theft or copying of the card and submit acknowledged copy of the same to your Card Issuing Branch along with a letter for issue of duplicate card. Filing of police complaint is not required if there is no loss.

4. However, the cardholder shall submit in writing such theft/ stolen/ copying as soon as possible to the card issuing branch. The written complaint shall accompany a copy of FIR, if lodged with the Police.

5. The Bank will issue a new Debit Card after proper verification, at its sole discretion and upon receipt of written request duly forwarded & recommended by the Card Issuing Branch. The Bank shall charge the prescribed fees for issue of another Debit Card.

6. The cardholder shall indemnify the Bank fully against any liability (civil or criminal) loss, cost, expenses/damages that may arise due to theft/ stolen/ copying of the card in the event that it is lost and not reported to the Bank, or lost/ stolen and misused before the same is notified to the Bank.

IX. Disputes

1. In case of purchase transactions (PoS), a charge slip with the signature (where PIN is not compulsory) and together with the card number noted thereon shall be conclusive evidence between the Bank and the cardholder as to the extent of the liability incurred by the cardholder and the Bank shall not be required to ensure that the cardholder has received the goods purchased/ availed of the services to the cardholder’s satisfaction.

2. All suits and proceedings against the issuer relating to any claims disputers or differences arising out of or in respect of the card shall be instituted only in the court situated at Bangalore in India. The Issuer may, however, at its option institute any such suits or proceedings against the cardholder at any place where the card holder resides or carries on business for work or gain or maintains his account with any branch of the Issuer.

3. The Bank does not accept any responsibility for the refusal of any ME to honour the card.

4. The Cardholders are informed that VISA/ MasterCard/ RuPay have prescribed time limits for raising any dispute over card transactions. Hence, the Debit Cardholders should get their Debit Card related account, pass book updated/ obtain statement of account, not later than every fortnight and in case of any disputed transaction, submit their written complaint along with proof immediately but not later than 30 days from the date of disputed transaction to the card

issuing Branch. Any delay in submission of claim may forfeit their rights to recover the disputed amount.

5. The cardholder will be responsible for all the costs associated with the resolution of the dispute.

X(i). Dispute Resolution for ATM Transactions in other than Syndicate Bank ATMs within India: There are 3 stages for dispute resolution, namely chargeback, pre-arbitration and arbitration.

Chargeback: Whenever the customer disputes the transaction as not having received cash or cash received partially, on registration of the complaint with the Branch (within 60 days of the transaction), the resolution will be known in 7 working days from the date of registering the complaint.

Pre-Arbitration: In case the resolution is in negative and customer wants to go further, he can opt for pre-arbitration within 30 days of such decision and submit a letter to the Branch. Pre-arbitration resolution will be known in 17 calendar days from the date of raising the complaint under pre-arbitration. The customer is eligible for compensation at Rs.100/- per day from the date of chargeback rejected date till resolution. If the dispute is accepted under pre-arbitration, the compensation amount shall be credited in addition to the disputed amount automatically. However, compensation shall be payable only if the original complaint is registered within 30 days from the date of transaction.

Arbitration: In case pre-arbitration is also not in favour of the customer, he/ she can prefer arbitration process, within 30 days of such pre-arbitration rejected date. A fee of Rs. 500/- plus applicable taxes is payable by the cardholder. The decision of NPCI in this regard is final.

Good-faith chargeback: In case the customer approaches the Bank after 60 days and before 120 days of the transaction, there can be only one stage i.e., Good-faith charge back which can be raised through the system. The time limit for the acquiring Bank to accept/reject the claim is 15 days. If the customer approaches beyond 120 days, the request to the acquiring bank can be sent directly through e-mail and there is no timelines for the acquiring Bank to respond to such request.

X(ii). ON US Transactions (i.e., transactions done at Syndicate Bank ATMs) For dispute resolution, customer has to register the complaint with the base branch

X(iii). Disputes for PoS/ e-Commerce Transactions and ATM transactions done abroad:

There are 3 stages for dispute resolution, namely chargeback, pre-arbitration and arbitration.

Chargeback: Whenever the customer disputes the transaction as failed and account debited, on registration of complaint with the Branch (within 120 days of the transaction), the resolution will be known after 45 calendar days for VISA/MasterCard and 30 days for Rupay Cards.

Pre-Arbitration: In case the resolution is in negative, the customer need to approach merchant directly with the proof provided by the merchant in charge back rejection stage. If not satisfied with the response of the merchant, Customer can opt for Pre-Arbitration and submit a letter to the Branch. Pre-Arbitration timelines and fee vary from network to network and shall be made known to the cardholder before proceeding with Pre-Arbitration.

Arbitration: In case pre-arbitration is also not in favour of the customer, he/ she can prefer arbitration process. The timelines and fee for Arbitration vary from network to network and shall be made known to the cardholder before proceeding with Arbitration.

If the customer approaches the bank beyond 120 days, the request to the acquiring bank can be sent directly through e-mail and there is no timelines for the acquiring Bank to respond.

To register disputes of ATM transactions in other than Syndicate Bank ATMs within India and for the transactions done through POS, Ecommerce channels, customers can approach any Syndicate Bank branch or can mail their grievance to [email protected] with transaction particulars.

Note:

1) Do not share ATM PIN or OTP with others. Memorize the ATM PIN and Do not write/store the PIN elsewhere.

2) Bank never asks for any card credentials such as expiry date, CVV, OTP…etc

3) For security reasons change the PIN at regular intervals

XI. Exclusion from liability

1. Without prejudice to the foregoing, the Bank shall be under no liability what so ever to the cardholder in respect of any loss or damage arising directly or indirectly out of –

Any defect in goods supplied/services rendered by any ME.

The refusal of any ME to accept the Debit Card.

Any malfunctions / non-function of any device/ communication channels or any other equipment directly responsible for enabling the transactions in the Debit Card.

Effecting transaction instructions other than by the Cardholder.

Parting with the Card to any unauthorized persons, including blood relatives or employees of the Bank not designated to receive the card.

The Bank exercising its right to terminate any card.

The Bank exercising its right to demand and procure the surrender of the card prior to the expiry date exposed on its face, whether such demand and surrender made and/or procured by the Bank or by any person or computer terminal.

Decline or a charge because of excess foreign exchange entitlements as prescribed by RBI from time to time or the Bank becoming aware of the cardholder exceeding his/ her entitlement.

Any mis-statement, mis-representation, error or omission in any details disclosed by the Bank.

Any injury to the credit character and reputation of the cardholder alleged to have been caused by the re-possession of the card and/or any request for its return or the refusal of any ME to honour or accept the card.

2. Any loss caused by a technical break-down of the payment system.

3. The Bank accepts no responsibility and will not be liable for any loss or damage for any service features or disruptions (including but not limited to loss of data) attributable to a systems or equipment failure or due to reliance by the Bank on third party products or interdependencies including but not limited to electricity or telecommunications.

4. The Bank accepts no liability or responsibility for the consequences arising out of the interruption of its business by acts of Gods, riots, civil commotions, insurrections, wars or any other causes beyond its control, or by any strikes or lockouts.

5. Subject to the foregoing provisions, the cardholder will not hold the Bank liable in case of improper/ fraudulent/ unauthorized/ duplicate erroneous use of the card and/or PIN through the card

falling in the hands of any third party or through PIN coming to the knowledge of any third party. In the event of any misuse or suspected compromise, the Bank reserves the right to seize/ capture / invalidate/ hot-list the card or withdraw the ATM/ card facility without any notice to the cardholder.

6. Failure of the Card Holder to access the Account due to any Force Majeure Event, Technical Problems, or any other reason beyond the control of the Bank.

XII. Termination

1. The Bank may terminate the Debit Card facility with immediate effect and the card shall be returned upon the occurrence of any of the following events:

a. Failure to comply with the terms and conditions herein set forth.

b. An event of default under an agreement of commitment (contingent or otherwise) entered into with the Bank.

c. The cardholder becoming the subject of any bankruptcy, insolvency proceedings or proceedings of a similar nature.

d. Demise of the cardholder.

e. Closure of the cardholder’s account or failure to maintain the minimum balance in the account or improper conduct of the account.

2. The cardholder decides to terminate the card, the cardholder shall give the Bank not less than 7 days prior notice in writing and forthwith return the Debit Card to the Cardholder’s Issuer Branch and obtain a valid acknowledgement therefor. Such termination shall also be deemed a termination of all related facilities accorded by the Bank to a cardholder.

3. In the event charges are incurred on the Debit Card after the card holder claims to have destroyed the card, the cardholder shall be entirely liable for the charges incurred on the card whether or not the Bank has been intimated of the destruction of the card.

4. The Bank shall be authorized to discontinue the facility at any time by cancelling the card with or without assigning any reason whatsoever by giving 7 days notice and shall be deemed to have been received by the card holder within 7 days of the posting to the cardholder’s address within India, last notified in writing to the Bank.

Surrender / Replacement of Card:

The Card issued to the Cardholder shall remain the property of SyndicateBank and will be surrendered to SyndicateBank, on request. The Cardholder shall return the Card to SyndicateBank for cancellation in the event the Cardholder no longer requires the services or if the services are withdrawn by SyndicateBank for any reason whatsoever.

Customers are requested to approach the Home Branch for renewal/ replacement Card. SyndicateBank may, in its absolute discretion issue a replacement Card along with a new PIN to the Cardholders, including for any loss/ stolen Card.

XIII. Indemnity

1. In consideration of the Bank providing the cardholder with the facility of the Debit Card, the cardholder hereby agrees to indemnify and keep the Bank indemnified from and against all actions, claims, demands, proceedings, losses, damages, personal injury, costs, charges and expenses whatsoever which the Bank may at any time incur, sustain, suffer or be put to as a consequences of or by reason of or arising out of the Bank’s acting in good faith and taking

or refusing to take or omitting to take action on the cardholder’s instructions, and in particular arising directly or indirectly out of the negligence, mistake or misconduct of the cardholder, breach or non-compliance of the rules, terms and conditions relating to the card and the account and/ or fraud or dishonesty relating to any transaction by the cardholder or his/her employee/s or agent/s.

2. The cardholder agrees to indemnify the Bank against all liabilities, losses, damages and expenses which the Bank may sustain or incur either directly or indirectly as a result of:a. Negligence, mistake or misconduct of the cardholder

b. Breach or non-compliance to the rules/terms and conditions relating to the card and the account.

c. Fraud or dishonesty relating to any transaction by the cardholder or his employees/ agents etc.

XIV Disclosure of Information

a. The cardholder hereby expressly authorizes the Bank to disclose at any time and for any purposes, any information whatsoever relating to MIS-particulars, accounts, transactions or dealings with the Bank, to any court of competent jurisdiction, quasi judicial authorities , law enforcement agencies Govt or regulatory agencies like RBI etc., in India or elsewhere, any agents or contractors which have entered into an agreement to perform any service(s) for the Bank’s benefit and any other person(s) whosoever where the disclosure is required by law or otherwise to whom the Bank deem fit to make such disclosure.

b. The cardholder agrees to provide the Bank information that the Bank requires from the cardholder by law or regulation or any other appropriate information that the Bank may reasonably request from time to time.

c. The cardholder agrees to the Bank providing any part or full information about his dealings with the Bank through Card or otherwise for RBI or such other Regulatory Agency(ies) under any statutory or regulatory provisions such as FEMA, 1999 etc.

d. The Bank reserves the right to utilize the information and data generated through the usage of the card by the cardholder in any manner whatsoever deemed fit in the conduct of its business.

XV. General information

1. The issuer will have a right to set off all monies with Issuer held in the name of the cardholder under any account with any of its offices against the outstanding dues under the card without notice to the cardholder.

2. In case the recovery of overdue under the card is entrusted to an outside agency by the Issuer, the charges incurred by such agency shall be charged to the cardholder.

3. The Bank reserves the right to add/delete or vary any of these terms and conditions as the Bank thinks fit in its absolute discretion and without assigning any reason whatsoever and notify such changes to the cardholder in any manner it thinks appropriate. Such changes shall make a reference to this paragraph and shall be binding on the cardholder.

4. The cardholder shall be deemed to have unconditionally agreed to and accepted the terms & conditions by either signing the card application form or acknowledging the receipt of the card in writing or by signing the reverse of the card or by performing a transaction with the card.
