Dear Benefactors, Friends, and Staff of the Thomas More Society:

I am pleased to send you my greetings and congratulations as you gather this evening at NavyPier to celebrate the fifteenth anniversary of the Thomas More Society and its dedication to

defending life, marriage, and religious liberty. I am sorry that I am out of town and unable to joinyou for this celebration.

At a time when our most cherished and foundational beliefs in the sanctity of life, of thenature of marriage and of religious freedom are being challenged by powers within our government

and by the growing secularization of our culture, the Thomas More Society provides a necessary andinvaluable service in defense of truth. Inspired by the holiness, integrity, and courage of your patron,Saint Thomas More, you have chosen to uphold and defend the sacredness of human life fromconception to natural death. You valiantly fight to preserve respect for individuals ability to live out

their faith freely, and you work to defend marriage as the union of a man and a woman for the sake

of family, in which children can be raised and nurtured as gifts from God.

In a particular way today, I congratulate and thank Thomas Brejcha for his many years ofservice, and for the encouragement he has offered to other Catholic laypeople by his example ofstrength in the face of determined opposition. I also extend my gratitude to Deborah Brejcha, to the

Societys staffand to all who support the mission of the Thomas More Society. Thank you for using

your gifts, talents and resources to build up the Church and to serve your brothers and sisters withgenerosity, fortitude and perseverance.

May the Thomas More Society, faithful to the witness given by its patron and expressed in

his memorable words, I am the good Kings servant, but Gods first, never cease to protect thevalues of life, faith, and family that the Lord has given us to uphold. Asking the Lords blessingupon the Societys work, I pray that His Holy Spirit will fill you with even greater wisdom and

inspiration to face the challenges that lie ahead. As I pray for you, and also for the conversion ofthose who oppose the Societys work, I ask you to also pray for me. May the Lord, who is our help

and our salvation, bless you and those you love.

    Sincerely yours in Christ,

Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I.Archbishop of Chicago
