INFORMATION YOU SHOULD KNOW
College Credit: Dual Credit is available for students who have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average and achieve a passing score on the ACT or COMPASS exam or another similar test approved by MCC. In district students pay one-half the cost of tuition. The credit earned and grade achieved at CTC is transcripted to the student’s formal college record immediately upon course completion. Articulated Credit is available to students who have not achieved a 3.0 GPA but who do complete a qualified career program with at least a B average. This credit will benefit the student if they choose to attend the sponsoring college. At MCC, the credit is transcripted once the student completes 15 credits at MCC; at least three of the 15 credits must be in the program area in which the articulated credit was earned. Typically, articulated credit is accepted by four-institutions only if the student has completed an Associate in Applied Sciences degree. Some institutions accept it only as elective credit. PLEASE NOTE: The credit listed on the program pages is subject to change. The transferability of any college credit to a two or four year institution is contingent upon transfer agreements between individual institutions and MCC. As curriculum changes in our programs or at the sponsoring institution, it may allow us to receive more credit for our programs. It is also possible that curriculum changes could cause certain credits to become unavailable. If you have any questions concerning dual or articulated credit, please feel free to contact the CTC at 650-7188. What skills do I need? Each program instructor has composed a list of skills necessary to be successful in their particular program. For example, students interested in College Prep Engineering or Construction Trades Technology should be proficient in math. Students in EMT, CSI/Law Enforcement, and Health Sciences should have a strong understanding of science. If you would like to see a document listing the necessary skills students should have before entering a program, please go to http: fortosagectc.sharpschool.net, click on Prospective Students—Entry Level Skills for CTC Students. Career and Technology Center Expectations: Students will be held to a high level of accountability while attending the CTC. A student’s grades, attendance, and behavior should be that of a professional, as our goal is to provide career training, career advancement, and career placement. Students will not only be expected to be technically capable, they also must understand that the CTC places high importance on academics with an emphasis on reading, writing and math.
