Our mission at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business is to educate students to be ethically responsible and effective global business leaders. We understand that in today’s competitive job market, in addition to an academically strong record, graduates must have a solid skill set developed through on-campus leadership positions, research opportunities, and internship experiences. To accommodate these business needs, the McDonough School of Business created the Undergraduate Office of Professional Development to provide career-related advising and programming specifically for undergraduate business students.

As a top business school, it is important that we provide individualized career services to ensure students are fully prepared to enter the marketplace upon graduation. From workshops to one-on-one career counseling and career treks to visit firms, students will learn the tools, skills, and knowledge they need to secure internships and job opportunities relevant to today’s demanding and changing business environment.

We invite students and alumni to take advantage of the programming that the Undergraduate Office of Professional Development offers.

Programming and ServicesONE-ON-ONE COACHINGStudents can make appointments to discuss career-related topics such as developing a job search strategy, reviewing a resume or cover letter, conducting a mock interview, or any other career-related questions.

WALK-IN CONSULTATIONSWalk-ins are available at various times throughout the semester. No appointment is necessary for these walk-in consultations.

BOOTCAMPS AND WORKSHOPSTopics covered at these events include resume and LinkedIn profile development, networking skills, industry-specific career panels, and mock interviews, among others.

EMPLOYER EVENTSEmployer events are scheduled throughout the academic year through both the Undergraduate Office of Professional Developmentand the Cawley Career Education Center. Employers who have visited Georgetown McDonough include GE Asset Management, Estée Lauder Companies, and Millennium Management.

CAREER TREKSStudents are invited to visit a company’s headquarters to learn more about jobs available in that particular industry. Treks are open to 10–15 students per trip and take place two to three times per semester.

ALUMNI MENTOR PROGRAMThe Alumni Mentor Program matches current sophomores andjuniors with Georgetown McDonough alumni in the Washington,D.C., area. Students and mentors meet formally and informally to discuss questions a student has about career development, life after Georgetown, and anything else related to employment.

Internships are a useful way for students to learn more about a particular industry and job function while building a resume before graduation. Approximately 84 percent ofGeorgetown McDonough students participate in an internship before graduation.
