Arch/BioAnth Lunch Talk Wednesday, January 18, 12:00pm Soc Sci I, 261 Careers Workshop Finding Employment in Archaeology and Biological Anthropology Alison Galloway Alison Galloway is Campus Provost, Executive Vice Chancellor, and Professor of Anthropology at UC Santa Cruz. A physical/biological anthropologist specializing in the study of the human skeleton, Dr. Galloway received a Ph.D. from the University of Arizona. Her areas of research include legal aspects of forensic anthropology, rates and processes of decomposition, age- related changes in the skeleton, and analysis of trauma. She is certified by the American Board of Forensic Anthropology and consults with the coroners/medical examiners for many Central and Northern California counties. Stella D’Oro Stella D’Oro received her A.S. in Multimedia from Cabrillo College in 1999, Certification in Archaeological Technology in 2005, her B.A. in Anthropology from UC Santa Cruz in 2005, and her M.A. in Applied Anthropology at San Jose State University where she also earned a GIS Certification in 2009. She currently serves as project manager for various projects and designs maps and other graphics for all projects at Albion. She has also played a lead role in Extended Phase I excavations for the Nacimiento Water Project, Santa Clara University Ten Year Capital Improvement Plan, and several residential projects. Her duties include using GIS and graphic software, collaborating with construction managers/designers, interpreting soil and geotechnical reports, conducting infield evaluations of cultural resources, and working in conjunction with Native American monitors. She is also a skilled field archaeologist, experienced in field survey, excavation, and site recording. Erik Zaborsky Erik Zaborsky is the Archeologist for the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Central Coast Field Office in Marina. He is also the Archeologist for the Fort Ord National Monument and California Coastal National Monument. He has been the Archeologist at the local BLM office since 1998. He received his BA in Anthropology at UC Santa Cruz (Crown 1994), then earned a Certificate in Archaeological Technology at Cabrillo College, and finally received his MA in Anthropology at California State University, Bakersfield.
