Pearson Berry Farm and Innisfail Growers
will be here in the parking lot across from the
clubhouse this Saturday between 2:00 and
3:00 p.m., weather permitting.
Wipes and
Paper Towels Wipes labelled “Flushable”
appear to go down the toilet
without a problem, however,
they don’t disintegrate as
quickly as toilet paper. Dispose
of flushable/baby wipes and
paper towel into the garbage
instead!
Personal Hygiene
and Contraceptive
Products These products may contain
materials and plastics that
are very difficult to break
down. Properly dispose of
these items in designated
cans (in public washrooms)
or in the trash.
Pharmaceuticals Prevent pharmaceuticals
from infiltrating surface water
and drinking water. Ensure
all your unused or expired
pharmaceuticals are taken to
your local pharmacy for prop-
er disposal.
Fats, Oil and grease These cooking by-products
can harden the insides of
pipes and create a sewage
backup. Use paper towel to
soak up the oil and dispose
of in the trash.
Food scraps and
Waste Food scraps and waste
will cause blockages
throughout the pipes
which will create a sew-
age backup. Put these
items in your household
garbage.
Paints, cleaning prod-
ucts and other house-
hold hazardous waste Products containing toxic ingredi-
ents can be harmful to water
systems and the aquatic habitat.
Dispose of these products as per
the manufacturer instructions.
THANK YOU
We have had multiple
sewer problems in the
past couple of weeks.
This is a result of flush-
ing harmful or inappropri-
ate items that cause
blockages.
We would like to thank
all those who are not
flushing items that are
not bio-degradable down
the sewer system.

Carefree Owners and Friends:
Where to begin. I almost feel speechless this year wearing my social hat and reflecting on my
past years opening newsletters. In each new calendar year, long before Carefree opens for May
long, activities and events are organized and planned with all our great Carefree volunteers. This
year saddened me to have to cancel all our events, given these unprecedented times, and wait
aside with everyone else for approvals and or guidelines from Alberta Health Services (AHS).
With so many events and activities going virtual, we decided we could organize and fund a fun
family challenge This event is open for all to participate but only children will receive a treat if
they submit the challenge successfully within the time frame. Please see the ad in the newsletter
for all details on this fun virtual event that will get you out and about.
We also have another exciting update I can provide as I put on my Treasurer’s hat. In the ap-
proved 2020 budget we had set aside money for a new playground in Marina Park as the old
structures had not passed safety codes. After some great negotiations and patience with a Cana-
dian manufacturer, we were able to solidify a great playground, within budget, that will have fun
for all ages. Installation of the playground is expected to begin on July 6th. During this time, we
ask all owners and guests to stay clear of the area until it is safely installed and passed inspec-
tion. We cannot guarantee an end date as that is weather dependent, but we can promise a grand
opening event with a ribbon cutting, balloons and freezies for the kids in attendance.
It is quite a different year indeed and I hope all of you are continuing to stay safe and are enjoying
quality time with family. Keep posted to the weekly newsletter for updates pertaining to COVID
and social activities as we move forward this season.

FAMILY CHALLENGE – WORDSEARCH
EX: Found these leters and lots (W/51)(E/701)(S/1)(T/500)
Alphabet: S W E E T
Lot #: 1 51 701 701 500
YOUR Alphabet:
CHALLENGE Lot #:
Carefree social is presenting an activity for children and their
families to participate in together
Starting Saturday, July 4th, going through to and including Saturday, July 11th.
Each lot can participate only once. Fill in the wordsearch below by collecting
alphabets from around the resort. The letters printed on white letter paper with
blue ink are posted on trailers visible from the road (please be respectful and
do not enter people’s property).
There are 14 alphabets to find in total. But there is more; you must write down the
lot number where you found the alphabet. When you have collected all
14, fill in the word search to unravel the message (note: letters can be
used more than once in the scramble). Submit the
wordsearch, filled out entirely, with your family’s lot
number and only the first names of children to the
store. The store can only receive wordsearch forms
during the week the challenge is open and children
17 and under will be treated to a kid’s ice cream
(regular cone or cup). No rain checks.
If you need a form, pick one up from the outbox in front of the office door.
CAREFREE COVID19 UPDATE – July 2, 2020:
We have not received any new information from Alberta Health Services (AHS); therefore this week
everything will continue to stay status quo. The Board will continue to consult with recommendations
received from AHS towards removing further restrictions where possible. We ask for your patience
and understanding as we navigate the logistics of preventative measures moving forward while con-
tinuing to be cautious in the best interests of the safety of residents and staff.
POOLS
The pool is now open with some guidelines in place which include cleaning every 4 hours. The pool
will be closed for 30 minutes for cleaning each time. Porto-potties will be used as an alternative to
the washrooms.
WASHROOMS/SHOWERS
The resort cannot yet adequately meet all AHS cleaning requirements. As the province recommends
the use of individual residences the Board deems these services non-essential and will remain
closed as per the “Guidance for Private and Municipal Campgrounds” under "Cleaning Shared
Spaces and Equipment".
WASH HOUSE LAUNDRY
Open with some restrictions. Please contact the office to reserve a timeslot for use (2 hr usage). We
must allocate 30 minutes for Carefree staff to clean after each use. We encourage lot owners to take
laundry home to reduce the AHS cleaning requirement when possible.
VISITORS
Although AHS continue to indicate relaunch Guidance for Private and Municipal Campgrounds stat-
ing: "Physical distancing means maintaining a distance of at least 2 metres between attendees who
are not from the same household at all times", we have observed many visitors in the resort. We re-
spectfully request that you ensure visitors do not display any symptoms and/or have been tested pri-
or to entering the resort. We trust our residents will apply good judgement when inviting non-
residents to the resort.
PLAYGROUNDS - IMPORTANT: NOTE TO PARENTS/GUARDIANS
We have allowed access to the playgrounds. Use of the playground structures is solely at the dis-
cretion of parent/guardians. It is recommended that hands are washed prior to using playground
structures as well as immediately after. Please allow for social distancing or sharing access time of
the structures with other families.
Key Reminders:
The office, clubhouse, washrooms/showers remain closed until we receive notice from AHS to
open and are able to meet the cleaning requirements appropriately.
Drop-off and pick-up boxes will be located outside the office for any required forms. Email is
preferred or call the office in advance.
6-foot social distancing continues to apply to all residents and visitors.
Social outdoor gatherings are limited to 100 people with social distancing in effect.
Please refrain from approaching Carefree staff. They will not be offended, but appreciative of
your consideration for their safety.
The store will be open; however, some services may not be available.
Access to beaches will be assessed by AHS closer to the bathing season.
*You may wish to consider downloading and using the ABTraceTogether mobile contact tracing app when out in public
or off your lot within the resort.
PREVENT THE SPREAD
We strongly request that if you are showing any symptoms that you notify the Carefree office and return to your primary
residence immediately, as rural health services are not equipped to handle an outbreak.
AHS MONITORING
AHS will continue to conduct periodic visits to the Resort to observe COVID precautions. If mass
gatherings and physical distancing is not practiced, AHS may escalate to get the facility shut down.”
Obviously, this is not a welcomed outcome, but a possibility if some residents chose not to comply
with AHS recommendations, thereby impacting all residents.
We encourage you to be kind to others during these difficult times. We would like to thank all own-
ers and family members for your understanding and precautionary efforts to prevent the COVID-19
virus from entering Carefree Resort!
If you have any questions regarding the COVID updates, please send an email to
[email protected]. We appreciate your time reading this update.

GOLF CART INSURANCE
The last few years, we’ve been pleased with the number of owners who have brought in their proof of golf cart liability early in the season. Thanks very much!
As you know, we require proof of insurance for all golf carts as per policy, and have been enforcing this for a few years.
The policy states: Golf Carts:
The following governs the use of golf carts within Carefree Resort on Gleniffer Lake:
* Golf carts must have four number decals (front, back, and both sides)
and a proof of liability insurance year sticker on the front beside of number sticker.
* Golf Carts will be operated only persons with a valid Driver’s License.
* Owners must produce proof of Liability Insurance.
Please drop off your current proof of liability insurance to the Office, and drop it in the appropriate box outside the door, or fax or email it in, in order to receive your required ‘2020’ sticker. We will be looking for your name, expiry date and specification that the golf cart is in fact covered. With the current situation, please call us, or email us, and we’ll drop your sticker in the Pick Up box outside the office door a few minutes before you arrive at the door.
Golf carts found driving around the resort without a ‘2020’ sticker will be escorted back to their respective lots, and should remain parked until the sticker has been issued. If a golf cart is caught without the appropriate sticker more than once, a fine of $25.00 will be issued to the lot owner. Repeat offenders can expect increasing penalties including having their golf cart removed from the resort.
We are confident that this procedure ensures that our Carefree community is a safer place for all residents.
