At the last VPN Cabinet meeting we agreed to see if carers understood the information that had been sent out on the Care Act

The new Care Act became law on the 1st April 2015
KCC has changed its carer policy in line with the new law

Carers now have the same rights as those who they care for
• Carers MUST be offered a carers assessment if they provide or intend to provide care
Please note that this isdifferent to the assessmentGiven for the cared for person

• Carers may be able to get support even if the person they care for does not.
• Carers have their own support plan.
