Structures. On the 992G, combine theuse of robotic welding and castings incritical high-stress areas. More than90 percent of the 992G structure isrobotically welded to provide highlyconsistent welds and increased strength.Castings are also used in several areasto increase strength by helping to spreadthe loads and reduce the number of parts.

Full Box-Section Frame. Has beenredesigned for increased strength. (1)Internal and external members have beenadded to the rails in critical sections.

Box-Shaped Cylinder Tower. Is designedfor improved resistance to twisting formaximum strength. (2) The tilt cylindertower high-strength steel plates directstress down to the cast tube, absorbingimpact and loading forces. This designresults in a narrower tower which givesbetter operator visibility.

Upper and Lower Hitch-Pins. Pivot on adouble-tapered roller bearing. (3) Theupper hitch plate thickness has beenincreased and the lower hitch plate hasbeen extended to improve transition tothe rail assembly.

Spread-Hitch Design. Helps to squareup the frame while providing increasedclearance for access to the hitch andhydraulic lines. (4)

Steering Cylinder Mounts. Are locatedon the outboard side of the front frameto increase component clearances andstructural strength, while improvingserviceability. (5)

Linkage Pins. Are grease lubricated andperiodically relubricated as the machineoperates by the standard autolubesystem. The linkage joint seals have ametal core that protects the seal duringnormal bending and flexing that occurswhile loading.

Cast Box Boom Box-Section Design.Delivers three times the torsionalloading stiffness of the previous design.(6) With the parallel lift arm design, corner loading the bucket sent stressesup the lift arm, through the cross tubewelding and up the other lift arm. Thebox-section design spreads stresses overthe full length and perimeter of the castbox boom, allowing stress transferthrough parent material. This resiststwisting and prevents stress paths thatcan lead to cracking.
