Caribbean Children’s Cricket Charity

The Caribbean Children’s Cricket Charity collects huge quantities of new and gently loved cricket equipment. We place bats, balls, gloves, pads, helmets, playing uniforms, shoes and wickets into the hands of cricket-loving kids who could never afford gear of their own.

2017 saw delivery of the inaugural Caribbean Children’s Cricket Charity shipments of cricket goodwill. In total 53 boxes were gifted to schools identified as having little or no cricket equipment in Antigua and Barbuda, and Barbados.

The gratitude from children, principals and local cricket bodies is hard to describe such is the shortage of cricket equipment in developing Caribbean nations.

In Dec 2017, large donations of equipment were also made to Sydney-based organisations Community Care Refugee Program, and Jesuit Social Services.

What We Do

We strive to give economically disadvantaged children the simple joy of access to cricket gear in a region of the world with a proud cricketing history.

Eleven primary schools received cricket kits including wooden and plastic junior bats, soft balls, pads and gloves, t-shirts, stumps, hats and backpacks.

Four secondary schools and four college teams were presented with cricket kits containing wooden bats, hard balls, pads, gloves, helmets, playing uniforms, backpacks and water bottles.

The Government of Antigua & Barbuda through the Ministry of Trade, Industry, Commerce, Sports, Culture & National Festivals assist in facilitating the work of the CCCC.

Population: 103,000. To date, we have donated to eleven primary schools, four secondary schools and four college teams.

In 2015 a passionate humanitarian with a life-long love of cricket, Tamara Lowe, travelled through the Caribbean with her family. Everywhere they went children of all ages joined games of cricket with their new Aussie friends.

At Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica, towards the end of the trip, Tamara asked a group of cricket-mad teenagers if anyone had ever owned a cricket bat or ball. As is common for children in the West Indies, nobody had.

When the test match ended, four cricket sets were delivered to the boys’ school in Kingston. A very surprised principal happily accepted the gift for the students. And the CCCC was born!

Levelling the playing field and fostering a brighter future for less fortunate children.

How We Got Started

Inspired and determined to give economically disadvantaged children the simple joy of access to cricket equipment, the Caribbean Children’s Cricket Charity was created to help relieve the spiral of poverty.
