0.1House for an archaeologist in Conímbriga

Program | A house to an archaeologist, with a very peculiar site plan. The house should function as a family housing but also as a place of work taking into account the specificity of the "customer."

The PThe Project | A clear idea of the project is to let the landscape get into the house working as an area of fusion between the construction and landscaping. Thus the living room is the element of integration, opening the house to the outside space. So this space works as an element of organization of space, taking the function of distribution of all areas of the house.

0.2Subway station in Coimbra

Program | A subway station integrated in the project of a future network of metro to the city of Coimbra. Apart from its function as bays should also include entertainment spaces for exhibition, bar, etc.

The PThe Project | The location of this subway station is very specific because is the moment when the subway breaks the underground to the surface. This passage occurs precisely in the top of one of the biggest parks in the city, being a central point of distribution of people. The building works as an open space to the population at the same time as works as the coverage of to the station quayside. It is defined as a set of platforms as pathways. These platforms marked the access zones to the station but also entertainment astation but also entertainment areas for the passersby, leading to a bar with a waiting area.

0.3Museum of the City of Coimbra

Program | A museum for the city of Coimbra whose program should include an auditorium, several spaces for temporary and permanent exhibitions, a bookstore and a residence for students.

The PThe Project | The museum is located in a transition space of two very important areas of the city, and also a place with a great property value, one of the outdoor areas of the building that nowadays is occupied by the prison of the city. One of the limits of the site is a big wall with a very stOne of the limits of the site is a big wall with a very strong presence. This is also one of the future spots of the proposed subway network that is being planned for the city (related with the last project). In this context, the program is divided in two different areas, a residence for students and a bookstore with a stronger relation with the park and another area with the exhibitions and the auditorium where the buildings create a square in connection with the existing one. These two areas are integrated in a pathway that connects the park with the old town.

0.4Senior Residential Unit

Program | A Senior Residential Unit whose program, by its character is very specific, require very strong restrictions and specificities of its spaces. This unit should carry typologies of single and double typologies of single and double rooms, reserved areas for specific functions (as health support units, etc.), leisure areas, canteen, and all the support infrastructures for this spaces.

The Project | The surrounding area of the site lead us to create a building that lives for itself, where it is possible to create living conditions as in the outdoor space as in the indoor space, without leaving the building. A building to involve. So, all the aSo, all the areas are distributed around the outdoor space, two of them are occupied with rooms, located in the closest part of the site and the other two are occupied with common areas with or without connection with the outdoor space. It is a game between semi public and private, safety and well being. The building wants to be integrated in the city but on the other hand create a shelter for those who live there.

0.5House in Longyearbyen | Norway

Program | A residential area located in a Norwegian island in the Arctic, with very pe-culiar features. The main goal is to plan an area of individual family houses with different types of housing with very specific ways of living.

The Project | A house as a wind break! Svalbard it is a very special place so it can not be think as another place to build…but the place that everyone wants to experience! This area is located in the east side of Longyearbyen and the biggest problem is the strong winter wind. So the main idea of my project is using the wind as a principle to organize the site planning and also to give bases for the housing design. The houses should “go with the flow”…following the shape of the mountain and give The houses should “go with the flow”…following the shape of the mountain and give directions to the wind. The goal is try to control the winter wind from east and also protect the houses from the summer wind (NW)…the house working itself as a windbreak! My idea is cMy idea is create groups of houses that are connected and also create some outside spaces between them. And each group protects itself from the wind and all the group together work as a wind break for the area. By sliding the groups, ones up and the others down I can create kind of a structure to direct the wind out from the houses. The houses aThe houses are also based in a structure to stop and direct the wind. I use a structure of strips of wood that create protect outside spaces in the houses. The idea of these spaces it is to fell the house more protect but also experience different types of using a house!

0.6Norwegian Embassy in Warsaw

Program | The Norwegian House in Warsaw will be a centre housing for the Norwegian Embassy and the local departments of Sintef and Innovation Norway. The centre should be a place to promote Norway and Norwegian inteinterests.

The Project | The architectural expression of the project is supposed to carry references to Norway. The design of the building is inspired by Norwegian landscape and the main façade material is Norwegian natural stone. The project is situated in a narrow and quiet city street in central Warsaw. The houses of the area are office buildings and apartment blocks of 4-5 floors. TTowards the south the neighbour building prevents the possibility of getting light into the building. We have designed an atrium going all the way through the building which will give light into the building and function as and open communication space.

0.7Urban Renewal in Almada

Program | The main goals to this project are to renewal and to dynamic the water fronts, which are being deactivated as their functions no longer mean something for the area. The city lost their interest leaving them to the abandonment. So, it is necessary give them their truly meaning as for the landscape as for the city.

The PThe Project | The proposal focuses on four major areas of the city of Almada, the east part of the bridge, in the cliff and the old town, the core of Cacilhas, which is now the central point of the transport network (boats and buses) and the former platform of Lisnave, an old bay for big ships called the Margueira. On the west part of the bridge the main focus was the area around the port and the university campus. The fThe front of Cacilhas was released, mainly from “cacilheiros” (the name of the boats that cross the river from side to side) that land there daily closing the square and blocking the image of the city. It created a new plaza area with a direct relationship with the river. This square is going to grab the slope, making the city coming down to the river, providing space for leisure and culture. In the middle of the square appears a building of special importance as well as for presenting the city's image. Through this building, the opera, not only streamlines Almada but also its entire relationship with the estuarthe estuary. From Cacilhas to Margueira appears to us the new interface of the city of Almada, which not only revival the riverside as the water front but also promotes a consider-able upgrading transport system in the city of Almada, by land and by waterways. It is goring to provide more and better interaction by subway, bus and boat. Also allow the connection to the cruise port of goods and created another platform. This port open Almada to the roadmaps of national and international tourist itineraries. The intentions of this new intermodal area its to create in the “new city” a more fluid and dynamic relationship with the existing one. There is not a place to be, but to move.(project related to the Triennal of Architecture in Lisbon)
