CARTER BUZZ CARTER MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWSLETTER AUGUST 2017 ~A Message from the Principal~ Watsons World~ I am excited to start my third year as your Principal at Carter Middle School. I have lived in the Carter Community my entire life and have children in the Carter area schools. I am a Hornet, and I have a passion for this community. We have great kids at Carter Middle School and my goal to push our students to be the best they can be. I will work hard to educate, empower, and motivate our students to excel. I am challenging the staff, the students, and our families to show their Hornet PRIDE this year. We must maintain our growth in academic achievement while at the same time addressing our studentsemotional, social and physical needs. We can do this by demonstrating our PRIDE traits: Positive, Respectful, Involved, Dependable, Excellence. It will take a lot of hard work, but working together as a Carter Middle School community we can accomplish this goal. Communication between school and home is very important in our studentseducation. In order to maintain good communication we will utilize various methods such as: Phone and email messenger system. Flyers sent home. Newsletter Twitter: @CMS_principal_ I will send a phone message every Sunday afternoon called the CMS Update. This message will include information about things happening at school and important dates. You will need to OPT In to the Messenger system to get these messages. I will also use Twitter and tweet information for school wide events. I am looking forward to a great year and working together to achieve the highest potential for our students. Go Hornets! Sullivan’s Scoop~ Welcome Back Students and Parents,

I hope you had the opportunity to rest your brain a little

this summer and that you enjoyed time with your family

and friends. Now is the time to start a new school year

with a fresh outlook and a mindset for learning. I am so

excited to have the opportunity to be part of the 7th grade

team this year as the grade level assistant principal. The

Carter community has been so welcoming! From every-

thing that I have experienced and been told, you all em-

brace newcomers with caring hearts and overwhelming

support.

My goal this year is to provide an environment that will

allow you to be the best you possible---from great teach-

ers that will enhance your potential to opportunities to

shine socially and emotionally. I look forward to being a

part of your family as well as the Hornet family!

Please do not hesitate to reach out with questions, re-

quests, or support! I look forward to meeting you at our

Carter Middle School Open House on August 7th from 5-7

p.m.! Stay tuned to the calendar for future events.

Warmly,

Stanley’s Section~ Hello Carter Middle School Students and Parents,

Some say educators have the best profession ever. Sum-

mers Off! Job hours 8-30. I agree, but only for a different

reason. The opportunity to start the year (school year)

over. The slate has been wiped clean. A new year be-

gins. How exciting is that. I want to extend a heartfelt

welcome to you as we begin the 2017-2018 school

year. I am enthusiastically anticipating this new school

year and working with your child. I hope that you and

your child will have a successful school year. If you have

any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact

me. This is going to be a great school year.

Stinnett’s Scene~ Hello, Carter Middle! My name is Lindsey Stinnett, and I

will be serving as an assistant principal and Leadership

Academy Fellow this year. During my teaching career, I

taught English at West High School and English/Language

Arts at Vine Middle Magnet School. I look forward to

serving our teachers, students, and families!

I am WILD about LITERACY! My mother always taught me

that reading could open doors for me. As a teacher, I

realized that my students could choose the life they want if

they could read well as adults. I want our graduates to be

able to read auto loan paperwork so that they get a good

deal on a new car. I want our graduates to know how to

install a baby seat properly to keep their families safe.

What life do you want for your child? What will he/she

need to read to be successful? Share your thoughts and

ideas with me at [email protected].

My heart has truly been moved by the warm and gracious

welcome that I have received from staff and families in the

Carter community. Please stop by and introduce yourself

when you get a chance!

PTSA~

The school year is well underway and we are accepting member-

ships to PTSA. Adults are $7 and students are $5. Please consider

how you will get involved.

Why join? Believe it or not, schools aren’t totally funded by tax dol-

lars. Things like AEDs, picnic tables, decorations, landscaping,

many educational activities etc… are not included in the budget. It

is people like YOU, who support the PTSA and its activities, that

make your child’s memories of Carter Middle truly remarkable.

You can stay up-to-date by joining the Carter Middle School PTSA Facebook page or if any questions you can e-mail us at [email protected]
