Carvel Bennett is a Leadership and Professional Development Consultant and Event Planner based in Lithonia, a suburb of the rapidly growing city of Atlanta, GA. He provides expertise, conducts seminars and workshops in the areas of Leadership, Team-building, Group dynamics, and Professional Development. He also has over 40 years experience planning, coordinating, and executing a wide variety of public, private, social, fund-raising and personal events – including, weddings, pageants, parades, carnivals, fashion shows and galas. His clients encompass a wide variety of educational, governmental, professional/private, and religious organizations.

Carvel started his career in Student Affairs where he rose through the ranks at Morris Brown College, serving in the following capacities –Counselor, Residential Living; Instructor, College Freshman Seminar; Counselor, Career Services & Cooperative Education; Director, Student Activities, Student Publications, Student Leadership Development & Campus Organizations; Associate Dean of Students, responsible for Student Leadership & Development and Campus Code of Conduct . He also served as an adjunct Instructor at the Ford Motor Company’s Center For Leadership & Professional Development at Clark Atlanta University.

Mr. Bennett’s unique college experience enabled him to pursue a parallel career in the Education Department at Zoo Atlanta. He has over 22 years teaching experience there, and has helped to develop some of the zoo’s outstanding educational programs. He is also a trained Animal Handler and volunteer Zoo Keeper, working primarily with carnivores and elephants. He also has extensive knowledge of “the history of zoos and zoo exhibit design”, a seminar he conducts regularly for students, teachers, and other zoo professionals.

It is this unique combination of working in Student Affairs and working in the zoo environment that has led him to develop his “Wild Workshops” – 3 exciting and innovative workshops designed to be conducted at your local zoo. These workshops use animals as the models for meaningful and honest discussion about leadership, group dynamics, morale, and communications in organizations or the workplace.

Carvel is a graduate of Tuskegee University with a BS in Marketing and minor in Banking & Finance, after changing his major his senior year from Animal & Poultry Science (Business option, Pre Vet-Med). He also holds an MBA from Clark Atlanta University with a concentration in Marketing. This explains his combining his love for animals with organizational behavior.

He is an ordained Elder and Deacon in the Presbyterian Church USA, the recipient of several awards and accolades, and occasionally participates in community and social justice activism. He also has training in the performing arts – dance and drama, and uses this training often in planning events and in the way he delivers his seminars and workshops.
