GIBSIN Engineers, Ltd. Indoor Coal Yard Project Name: Hsinta Power Station Indoor Coal Yard Client Taiwan Power Company Location Hsinta/Kaohsiung, Taiwan, ROC Description To mitigate local environmental concerns, an indoor-type coal yard and all related handling facilities for Hsinta Power Station is constructed. The indoor-type coal yard consists of four (4) coal domes each with 170,000 metric tons of storage capacity which enables the supply of coal for existing four (4) units for 50 days operation. While building coal domes the project was divided into two stages, in which domes, conveyors, stackers/recla imers were constructed during the first stage to handle coal supply by barge and was transferred from Talin, Kaohsiung Harbors; further, at the second stage an off-shored wharf with ship unloaders and conveyors were constructed to realize the complete coal handling system. Hsinta indoor coal yard is built on the reclaimed land from an ash pond, with area of 12.27 hectares, in Hsinta Power Station where four (4) coal domes are situated. Each dome is 120 meters in diameter, 67 meters in height, and is equipped with one (1) radial semi-porta l type stacker/reclai mer and conveyors to handle coal flow in/out. Coal is unloaded from an offshore wharf which is connected by a 2.3 kilometers long of trestle-bridge from power plant boundary. The wharf is equipped with two (2) continuous ship unloaders (CSU), each with 2,000 t/h unloading capacity. Two (2) 4,000 t/h conveyors are installed for the handling of unloaded coal into coal domes. The system design features for major equipment are as follows:  Coal Domes 1. Quantity: 4 2.
