Working conditions fou Working conditions fou nd during audit nd during audit

In latex sedimentation, workers ad d sulfuric acid to the latex to promo te coagulation. They do this by dep

- ending on long experience withou t measuring. Then they use a stick

to stir and mix the acid with latex, a nd later scoop the coagula floating on the surface. The water remainin

g is drained into the rubber trap.

Ensure appropriate consumpti on of acid used in coagulation, by plotting titration curve of s

kimmed latex at various amou nt of ammonia, and add only r

equired amount of acid each time.

Service cost 50 baht (sampling skimmed latex for ammonia check)

Savings 360 baht (Acid costs saved per sedimentation)

When cleaning factory floors, swe ep off dirt and scraps before hosi ng down with water

Check for leaks in various connec tions, e.g., pipes for raw, soft an

d cold water, and repair immediat ely if leaks are found

Ensure that float valves are prope rly functioning

-Where possible, use high pressur e nozzle on water hoses

Page 15: Case sample of a CT option

Avoid cleaning by overflow syst - em; counter flow system is pref

erable Plan production process so tha

t minimal washing is required Product change should not tak

e place too often Check quality of water used an

d use appropriate type of water

Page 16: Case sample of a CT option

Insulate hot and cold water pip es and repair the insulation if d

amaged Consider returning condensate Avoid using steam directly by u

sing indirect heat transfer whe re applicable

Water used to cool machines s hould be reused

Page 17: Case sample of a CT option

Acid and alkaline should not be d umped after only one use; try to r

- e use by adding acid or alkaline t o obtain required concentration

For light, fluffy materials, trap sy stems should be utilized to preve

nt loss Install water meter at key points

so that loss and production effici ency will be known

Avoid using hazardous chemicals

Page 18: Case sample of a CT option

Prepare work manuals and hav e them available for use

Maintain machines in good wo rking condition

Check condition of boilers regularly

If production is much lower tha n production capacity, product

ion process should be revised t o minimize loss

Page 19: Case sample of a CT option

Air conditioner should be set at a n appropriate temperature

Lights should be turned off when not in use; use spot lighting wher

e possible Light switches should be position

ed throughout different work are as. Replace spent bulbs with ene rgy saving bulbs.

Clean light bulbs and reflectors regularly
