The ProductThe Essentials Series are high performance, high quality LED lighting fixtures designed specifcally for commercial & industrial applications. They are an ideal replacement for metal halide and fluorescent fixtures and provide very short payback periods for high bay applications such as manufacturing, warehouses, retail, sports/convention centers, or aerospace facilities.

Project RequirementsFlex operates manufacturing facilities across the world and as a result is also an ideal customer for lighting solutions. At the Timisoara, Romania facility, lighting levels had dropped below 300 lux in one of the buildings and it was necessary to replace the aging 250W metal halide fixtures. The requirement was an average level of 400 lux and to keep installation costs low, it was decided to reuse the existing cables and do a 1:1 fixture replacement. The floor area was nearly 40,000 square feet and would have required over 140 metal halidefixtures to meet those lighting levels.

Case Study

ProposalThe Flex Lighting Solutions team recommended the Essentials 6MS fixture and would need only 117 units to meet the requirement. With the Timisoara facilities team, they performed a 7 year total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis. The total wattage per fixture would be 47% lower, resulting in an annual energy reduction of nearly 170MW. This would lower the annual electricity bill for that one building by $19,000. In addition, because LED lighting has nearly 10 times the expected lifetime compared to metal halide bulbs, the facility would save an additional $2,250 in annual maintenance costs.
