Case Study: International Mobile Money
Service Provider
Applying Business Expertise in a Social Context.
Background TSIC’s Work OutcomesOur client provides mobile
payment services in 7 countries,
with plans for rapid global
expansion in 2012.
An International Mobile Money
Service Provider appointed TSIC
to develop a flagship community
engagement programme to act
as a single platform for the
Service Provider to harness its
technology to support
disadvantaged communities
around the globe.
A key criteria was to minimise
headquarter resources and
design a replicable model to
manage community
partnerships globally.
Community Research. TSIC produced a
detailed report highlighting the potential
social impact the client could have on
various community groups, and the range
of interventions that could be supported
by the client’s business.
Partner Selection. After discussing the
complexity of each social group and
helping the client select a target group,
TSIC performed thorough due diligence on
a number of potential NGO partners to
assess their capabilities and credibility.
Programme Design. TSIC designed a one-
year activities calendar for the community
programme. TSIC is currently working with
the client’s Marketing team to coordinate
external communications activities and
launch events.
This is an ongoing project due to be
completed in 2012. TSIC has :
Identified a social group to form the
core focus of the flagship programme
by assessing how they could best
benefit from the client’s technology and
business networks.
 Selected suitable international NGO
partners with input from the client
team. Worked with the NGO partners
to plan the next 12 months of activities,
and to monitor its progress on behalf of
the Service Provider.
TSIC will produce an evaluation report to
measure the success of the programme
and identify opportunities for
improvement.
