The Project

The client, a leading manufacturer of audio, video, communications, and information technology products for the consumer and professional markets, wanted to develop photo realistic 3D models with a hi-tech look and feel for their next generation line of electronic products. As part of their product marketing strategy, they required these models for developing online interactive product tours as well as for their promotional literature in print media. The ChallengeIn a geographically dispersed and web-empowered market place, the challenge for the 3D developers was to build realistic models of Sony's electronic products for providing a virtual demonstration of their products to global prospects in a real-time, online showroom. The primary outcome expected of the finished models was an ability to effectively replace the real experience of actually touching and feeling the products, exploring their various features, texture, highlights and functionalities, as conventionally demonstrated by a showroom salesman.

The Process

Stage 1: Understanding the Project Requirement

Texturing was carried out using the reference photographs for creating detail maps. Highly accurate textures were then created and applied to the model for a realistic look and feel.

The Final Output:

Trimity Studios was able to successfully model and animate more than 40 products for this interactive tours project. These were used as powerful online marketing tools for strategically promoting their products to reach out to a global target audience in a cost-effective package, providing the much-needed competitive edge for operating in a dynamic Electronics, Communication and IT goods market.
