RTCS Briefing
Cashless Tolling:
• The system is designed to be a “closed” system where trips along the Turnpike are tolled based on the distance between tolling points
• There are some sites that only have a toll zone in one direction of travel, and other sites that have a toll zone in both directions of travel
RTCS Briefing Cashless tolling sites:
• 12 new “single zone sites”
• 12 new “double zone sites”
• Split into 4 different construction packages over 3 years
• 3 conversions of ORT “double zone sites”
RTCS Briefing
Consistent features for each mainline toll zone: • Two box truss overhead
structures
• Concrete toll zone with in- pavement conduits
RTCS Briefing Cashless Tolling – Single Zone Site:
Roadside Enclosure Building
• 21’ between nearest gantries of opposing directions
RTCS Briefing
• 1 building for each direction of travel
Generator for emergency power provided by KTA
• 1 generator for each tolling location
RTCS Briefing Cashless Tolling Double Site
• Flat grading area for roadside building, generator and propane tank
Construction Overview Civil construction vs. RTCS
contractor responsibilities:
