Let me start by thanking all our sponsors, without them it would be very difficult for all of us to survive as an association or as a club. There have been a few changes this year with our first Twenty 20 competition held to start the season. The concept has been well received and supported by the majority of players and we would like to see this continue over the coming seasons. The cash prize of $500 for hitting one of the Casino Real Estate signs, which was generously donated by Mark Simpkins, was not won this year but certainly generated a lot of interest. Team numbers have been up a little this year with no forfeits. However we still have a few teams playing short on occasions, so if you have a friend who is thinking of having a game, work on them for next year. Congratulations to the Casino Cavaliers on claiming the Minor Premiership in the regional LJHooker League competition and also making it to the final. Unfortunately they fell only a few overs short of holding on for a draw which would of been enough for them to claim the title. Keep up the good work boys. This year has also seen a start to improving our turf wickets with a new roller hopefully being purchased before the start of next season. These improvements will take time and money but all clubs agree that we need to work together to make these changes possible and hopefully the results will be seen quickly. I would like to thank the JJ, Clinton, the Committee and all the clubs delegates for all their help throughout the year. Last but not least a special thank you to my darling wife Annita for all her patience and understanding and for her tireless work throughout the year. Finally, congratulations to all the trophy winners. See you all on the field next year. Mal Hancock President

30 years as

CDCA Honorary Treasurer 1979/80- 2008/09

TONIGHT WE PAY HONOUR TO THE MAN WHO HAS HELD THE POSITION OF HONORARY TREASURER OF OUR ASSOCIATION OVER THE LAST 30 YEARS He is JOHN McDONALD, affectionately known to all as JJ. His first game was with Tatham in 1948 (61 years ago). He played for Tatham-Bowling Club, Bowling Club, and then Golf Club. After 55 years at the crease he hung up his well worn box. 55 years at the crease? He WAS a hard man to get out! During that time he amassed 11 centuries, carried his bat twice and scored over 500 runs in a season on 5 occasions. His stand of 254 for the 2nd wicket in 1966 is still a record that stands today. As an administrator he has no peer. While we celebrate his 30 years in office as Treasurer, it must be noted that prior to taking that office, he served as Vice-President for 12 years. This giving him a total of 42 years of administration, in which he is believed never to have missed a meeting. He has also been a Casino delegate to the Far North Coast Cricket Council for more than 30 years, and was the Treasurer of the Casino Junior Cricket Association for 5 years. He was also the inaugural Treasurer of the Casino Cavaliers. During his period of administration he has worked with: 9 presidents 15 secretaries 42 Vice-Presidents His awards include:

First Life Member of Casino District Cricket Association-1978 Life Member- Far North Coast Cricket Council- 1995 Life Member- Casino Bowling Club- 1982 Sports Administration- Australia Day Honours- 1997
