The following rules apply throughout this Service Manual:

1. Each chapter contains sections explaining the purpose of specific functions and the relationship between electrical and mechanical systems with reference to the timing of operation.

In the diagrams, represents the path of mechanical drive; where a signal name accompanies the symbol, the arrow indicates the direction of the electric signal. The expression "turn on the power" means flipping on the power switch, closing the front door, and closing the delivery unit door, which results in supplying the machine with power.

2. In the digital circuits, '1' is used to indicate that the voltage level of a given signal is "High", while '0' is used to indicate "Low". (The voltage value, however, differs from circuit to circuit.) In addition, the asterisk (*) as in "DRMD*" indicates that the DRMD signal goes on when '0'.

In practically all cases, the internal mechanisms of a microprocessor cannot be checked in the field. Therefore, the operations of the microprocessors used in the machines are not discussed: they are explained in terms of from sensors to the input of the DC controller PCB and from the output of the DC controller PCB to the loads.

Pickup/Feed System ■ Overview

Papers in the cassette are lifted up with the Lifter Plate. At pickup, the Pickup Roller picks up a paper by coming down and contact with paper surface. The Pickup Roller comes down when the Pickup Solenoide turns ON. A paper picked up by the Pickup Roller is fed to the feed path with the Separation Roller, and then, is fed to the Registration Roller with the Vertical Path Roller. The Vertical Path Roller, Pickup Roller, Feed Roller and Separation Roller are driven by the Cassette Pickup Motor.

■ Paper Size Detection At the cassette pickup assembly, since the feed speed is increased, detection cannot catch up with it. Thus, delay and stationary jam detection are not executed at the Cassette 1 Pre-Registration Sensor. Instead of it, the Vertical Path Sensor executes the delay and stationary jam detection. Since the residual jam should be detected on each cassette, the Cassette 1 Pre-Registration Sensor detects it. Because the Vertical Path Sensor is too close and it is unnecessary to execute detection, the Vertical Path Sensor does not execute residual jam detection.

6) Lift and remove the host machine.

CAUTION:

• The host machine weighs as shown below. It is recommended to lift it with 4 people or more. However, if there is a standard to handle a heavy load in each sales company, follow it for operation. Also, make sure to lift the machine with keeping it level at operation.

• Because the gravity center is in the rear, lift with care.

How to Check this Installation Procedure

NOTE:The 2nd side of 2-sided print mentioned later means 2nd side in the image formation order.With this machine, 2nd side in the image formation order at duplex copy/print is equivalent to the 1st side of the original.

Margin Adjustment (1st side)

1) Print from the Cassette 3 and 4, and check that the left edge margin is within 2.5 +/- 1.5mm.

3) Hold the lever of the Trailing Edge Guide Plate, and check the values of the scale on the 2 Adjustment Plates of the Trailing Edge Guide Plate.

5) Move the Adjustment Plates back and forth according to the scale values checked in step 3. As the Adjustment Plate is moved toward the rear by 1 scale, the left edge margin is decreased by 1mm.

NOTE:When moving the scales, be sure to move the same amount of the value for the 2 points.

7) Return the cassette to its original position.

1) Execute duplex printing from the Cassette 3, and check that the left edge margin is within 2.5 +/- 2.0mm.

2) If the margin is not within the range, change the left edge margin adjustment value for the 2nd side of the Cassette 3.

• As the value of COPIER > ADJUST > FEED-ADJ > ADJ-C3RE in service mode is incremented by 1, the left edge margin is decreased by 0.1mm.

3) Enter the value same as the left edge margin adjustment value for the 2nd side of the Cassette 3 to the side registration adjustment value for the 2nd side of the Cassette 4.

2) Open the plastics, and remove the 2 pads by lifting the rear of the equipment. Then, tuck the plastics toward the front.

3) Remove the remaining 2 pads and plastics by lifting the front of the equipment.

4) Lift the equipment down from pallet.

5) Remove all tapes attached to the equipment and packing materials from the equipment.

CAUTION:

Be sure to remove tapes on the rear side of the host machine after completing the installation of the equipment; otherwise, cables may be trapped.

Installation Procedure

1) Open the Right Lower Cover.

CAUTION:

If mounting the host machine without opening the Right Lower Cover, the cover may get damage.

2) If the Right Lower Sub Cover is installed to the host machine, remove it using a flat-blade screwdriver. (The removed Right Lower Sub Cover will not be used.)

NOTE:When installing the host machine at the same time, skip this step because the Right Lower Sub Cover is packed with the host machine.

3) Mount the host machine by aligning the corners (right and left) of the front side of the host machine with the corners (right and left) of the front side of the equipment.

CAUTION:

When mounting the host machine to the equipment, be sure to move the host machine parallel and fit the 2 Positioning Pins on top of the equipment into the holes on the Base Plate of the host machine.

CAUTION:

• The host machine weighs as shown below. It is recommended to lift it with 4 people or more. However, if there is a standard to handle a heavy load in each sales company, follow it for operation. Also, make sure to lift the machine with keeping it level at operation.

• Because the gravity center is in the rear, lift with care.

9) Connect the 3 connectors to the host machine and put the cables through the guides.

CAUTION:

Be sure to tuck the extra slack of the harness to the host machine side to prevent the cables from being trapped.

10) Loosen the screw on the Connector Cover included in the package, and install the grounding wire between it and the toothed washer.

12) Secure the equipment in place with the 4 adjusters.

NOTE:Securing of the adjuster is not earthquake resistant.

2) Hold the lever of the Side Guide Plate, and adjust the plate to the specified size. At this time, move the Side Guide Plate by referring to the Size Index (Label) of the sheet size to be set, and adjust the Side Guide Plate to the click position (position where it clicks).

3) Hold the lever of the Trailing Edge Guide Plate, and adjust it to the specified size. At this time, move the Trailing Edge Guide Plate by referring to the Size Index (Label) of the sheet size to be set, and adjust the Trailing Edge Guide Plate to the click position (position where it clicks).
