I have decided to make my cast members my focus group as I thought they are within the age range of my target audience and who better to ask the opinion of when working on this short film production than the other people working on it with me. This will allow them to make suggestions as we are making it as they understand the short film due to being the characters and adapt my short film to the feedback they give me whilst in the process of making it.

Characters:

Victim 1:

Actor: Jack Roy

Character description: A kind, young adult that likes to have a good time out with his friends during evenings and nights. He was caught in the wrong place at the wrong time when being chased by the killer in the alley.

Costume: Leather jacket, t-shirt and jeans for typical clothing of a night out.

Victim 2:

Actor: Wishes to remain anonymous Character description: Is displayed to seem as the killer at first but really is the first victim to

the killer as he stumbles out from the darkness. A shy high school student just wanting to spend a night out hanging with his friends at the village park yet gets caught in the alley by the killer.

Costume: Hoody for warmth and to feel socially comfortable not for intimidating purposes, jeans and trainers.

Wayne Kerr (detective 1):

Actor: Adam Williams Character description: The character that the story revolves around the most as he tries to

solve two murders alongside his co detective Floyd Pink. He is the more serious of the two and displays this through more concern to the crime and being the one to talk to the police about what he has found.

Costume: He wears a leather jacket, slit jeans and a shirt, although he is a serious guy that likes to get his job done, he would rather do it comfortably than a set uniform as it makes him feel more relaxed and less vulnerably to be pin pointed whilst at work.

Floyd Pink (detective 2):

Actor: Zane Farley Character description: This is the partnered detective with Wayne who is needed to solve

the case for the suffocation murders committed in the alley. Floyd is less serious of the two and doesn’t pay as much attention the one to be there as an assistant rather than leading role that likes to crack a joke here and there.

Costume: Floyd is also casual in clothing avoiding uniform but this isn’t due to trying to be more comfortable and hiding his identity as a detective it is due to a lazy lifestyle as he is clever but doesn’t feel the need to put effort into his work.

Policeman:

Actor: Andrew Bowles Character description: In the short film he plays the part of investigating the two murders

with the detectives, he is a caring guy but jumps to conclusions fast when doing his job interrogating a suspect. Although he likes to keep his relationships with co-workers professional he feels the need to check on Wayne (detective 1) just in case something is wrong.

Costume: high visual jacket, shirt and black trousers to keep professional and in uniform. Also wears casual clothing when visiting detectives house later in short.

Suspect:

Actor: Patrick Chandler Character description: An innocent guy accused of the murder for victim 1 and 2 due to

having no alibi and being most likely to have committed the crime. His character is interrogated by the policeman and in the process gets angry and aggressive towards him as he is being accused for something he hasn’t done.

Costume: casual shirt with t shirt underneath and trousers.
