December 8th, 1 PM, Saskatoon Livestock Sales

It is once again a true pleasure to be working with the likes of Wraz Red Angus and Kenray Ranch, the Birnie’s and Kyle’s are very inspired, ambitious people that truly love the industry they are in, their passion is evident. A great collection of bred heifers has once again been compiled by these leading breeders and it is always exciting when I get to tour through the 150 farms a year and see the success stories from the genetics that stem from these programs. A very select group of heifer calves are offered for this sale to highlight what these genetics look like as calves and rest as-sured you can count on them being out of monumental cow families that headline these herds. Also on offer is a package of embryos out of a top donor from Wraz and the newest source of genetics in their herd, “Big Shot”. The success to any business venture rests upon customer satisfaction and in this case from the first two POP sales things are full speed ahead. The time and energy spent tweaking things to make these machines run right is impressive let alone the finances used to source the genet-ics needed to further bolster the herd replicating the very qualities that are being built upon. Speaking of time, take a look around when you’re at your next sale and then the sale after etc. Is it any accident that you see many of the same faces show up to support fellow breeders at various events. Wraz and Kenray go to great lengths, miles and energy spent to attend as many functions as possible for numerous rea-sons but most importantly they care to see others prosper and do well themselves. Life is very busy we all know that but the effort that someone puts forward to attend your event is always well thought of. With that we invite you to a great Angus weekend with the TOC sale Friday night followed by the social that is put on by the consignors as well as Kenray and Wraz to be held at the Sandman Inn. This weekend has become the Angus weekend to be at during the fall season and we thank all that help make that happen. Cattle will be available for viewing starting Thursday AM at SLS right up to sale time on Saturday AM so be sure to touch base with Phil, Sheldon or ourselves at Castlerock Marketing as we will be on site the whole time as well. We look forward to visiting with you in the future!

See you sale day!Shane Castle Castlerock Marketing

Welcome to the 3rd Annual Pride of the Prairies Female Sale. 2018 has been a challenging weather year across most of western Canada. A hot dry summer and an unexpected early snow fall in October left producers scrambling. Our feed stacks are shorter than hoped yet the cows have pulled through summer in tremendous condition and weaned calves heavier than recent record. Cows with fleshing ability and the ability to forage freely are the type of cows that we are focused upon. We hope that you will make the time to be our guests on December 8th in Saskatoon to enjoy our special brand of hospitality and enjoy the fellowship of other dedicated Red Angus enthusiasts. We recognize that there are lots of sales to source your next genetic investment from. For this reason, we extend a very appreciative thank you to the fellow breeders that have put their faith in our breeding program and have entrusted us with their business and friendships over the years. Many of our customers have had remarkable success with their purchases and have ended up becoming lifelong friends in the process. We aim to produce a product that fits where the commercial producers are headed. While show champions, and high sellers are nice to achieve every now and then, what gets us excited is seeing functional mama cows in excellent condition bringing in big fat calves off grass in the fall. This fall’s calf run solidifies our belief that POUNDS PAY!! Consistently the heavy weaned calves are the calves that are putting the most money into the pockets of the cow-calf producers that produce them. Don’t fall prisoner to trends and passing fads when selecting the genetics that will impact your future profits. We manage our cows to work for us, they graze for as many days as possible before being turned into winter feeding paddocks and only see the corrals during calving season, then they are turned out into one large group post-calving up until breeding season. We are a family operated operation so the same guys that AI the heifers, feed the bulls, bed the barn, mend the fences, treat sick calves and also follows up with our customers. We understand your needs and if you feel that we don’t we want to hear it from you. Our offering this year is one that we are extremely proud of. We have been told by many visitors that this may be our best offering to date. We firmly believe that this group of bred heifers will go out and work for their new owners. We exposed most of the offering early to Staunch 61D that has been held tightly within two breeding programs to date. This young herdsire gets us extremely excited and we are very pleased with the breeding job that he is doing. This spring we sourced a proven calving ease line from our friends at Moose Creek Red Angus and elected to use Holt 58E as our pasture sire. We recognize that some of the breeding dates may require a DNA parentage test, we will gladly cover these costs for the new owners of the bred heifers. As always the heifer calves on offer are a cross section of sires from our breeding program and are a true snapshot of where we are headed. All of our offering have been on a full herd health program designed for our herd by Head for the Hills Veterinary Service, Dr. Clarke Hill. In the spring heifers are vaccinated for viral infections (IBR, BVD, PI3, BRSV) as well as shipping fever and Blackleg. They were vaccinated with Titanium and Vision 8 in the fall. All breeding heifers were vaccinated prior to breeding with in the spring of 2018 with a modified live fetal protection vaccine Express 5 VL5. This covered BVD (type 1 & 2), IBR, BRSV, PI3 as well as vibrio and leptospirosis (abortion causing bacteria). These heifers should be up to date for fetal protection and ready to fit into any herd vaccination herd protocol.Sincerely,Sheldon Kyle

KENRAY RANCH

Welcome to the 3rd Annual Pride of the Prairies female Sale. We are very pleased to be working with our friends and sale partners at Kenray Ranch as well as Castlerock Marketing, auctioneer Chris Poley and Sarah Buchanan of DV Auction. Thanks to Mike Fluery and staff at SLS for their great job to accommodate our sale – it’s a very busy place and we appreciate it. We know there are many places to source your females so we really appreciate your time and sincerely hope you can find the time to join us sale day. If you are unable to attend please do not hesitate to give someone a call. The sale staff have evaluated the cattle or call one of us directly – we are all here to help. This has been a year of extremes across North America. Most areas started out dry which was certainly the case in our area. I have been in contact with many who have endured very little precipitation and a shortage of quality feed – some of you having to purchase your winter feed supplies. I have been in your shoes and understand the cash flow challenges that come with the situation. I also know what a resilient group we cattle producers are! Even in these tight times the show must go on! As a breeder when the right one or the right cow family comes along that will keep us going forward it’s in our best interest to continue taking our program forward. Sometimes it means being honest with ourselves and culling that group of females that just does not cut it and replacing them with new blood – it can save on feed and keep us going forward. Once again I have been there. With that I understand sometimes this takes some time and planning. If we can help you to achieve your plan please do not be afraid to give me a call. This group of bred heifers has been selected from a group of over 100 heifers that were bred this year – this group was selected last spring and AI to breed leading sires then exposed to the 2016 Red Round Up Reserve Champion bull WRAZ 7D. I believe there are many opportunities throughout the offering with a few very interesting proven cow family opportunities. Keep the cow herd strong and the rest will follow. We work very hard to live up to our slogan “The Program You Can Count On” so please invest with confidence – we will be here for you if you need us. Communication is the key. A little blurb about the MooCall collar I put to the test on this group of sale females. The collar goes around the neck of an animal and can be used like a marking device to detect heats or used on a breeding bull to detect a breeding date. The females have a tag similar to an RFID tag then the collar detects and sends a text to your cell phone when it detects the heat or breeding. It is new technology that I wanted to try so that I am as accurate as possible on the breeding information I am supplying to you on this offering. There is a lot I could tell you but the short story is that it is not perfect but because it is new and I wanted to make sure it was working the texts it sent for the first month with the collar on WRAZ 7D were checked by one of us very closely. This helped a lot to observe any breeding dates after AI. I do believe this information along with the preg check results should help increase the accuracy I have supplied – I guess time will tell for sure. The whole herd is on a year round mineral program and our winter feeding rations are formulated and balanced by Gowan. We work very closely with Dr. Henry McCarthy on a whole herd health and vaccination program. We blackleg vaccinate and follow the Bovishield Gold program protocol to ensure we have fetal protection and can maintain a BVD PI free herd. Ivermectin is applied to the whole herd annually. The preg check on these females was done as advised by Dr. McCarthy as close to optimum time as we were able to ensure accuracy. We want to be as accurate as possible on the breeding date information. I have taken one more step on accuracy with MooCall to give you as accurate of information as possible but I am still not able to guarantee the sire. With that I realize that many of the breeding dates may trigger a DNA test for parentage. WRAZ offers to cover that cost for you – just give me a call next spring and we will work it out. We will again be hosting supper Friday along with the great consigner group that Castlerock Marketing has for the Annual Touch of Class sale. Come for supper, stay for the Touch of Class followed by great hospitality. New this year is a hospitality room at the hotel!! Spend the night and join us for brunch followed by the Pride of the Prairies Sale on Saturday. We would love to show you hospitality second to none as well as a great sale offering with Integrity that you can count on!! We really hope you will take this invitation to join us.Take care out there,Sincerely,Phil, Lana & Family

The proof is in the pudding here. Dam 96C was one of the top selling breds in the Dec 2016 sale now owned by Wayne & Sharon Broughton and leased back to us at WRAZ. Here is a power female for your evaluation. Her dam Jetta 41W is a very productive, milky Tycoon daughter here at WRAZ. I would be happy to have a whole herd of Tycoon daughters. Maybe her greatest accomplishment to date is a son Coleman 44Z in the very productive U6 Livestock herd near Wynyard, Sk. If you have a chance make sure yougive them a call or stopin and say hello to Garnet & Shirley! They speak very highly of their Coleman daughters and find they milk very well out of great udders.AI May 24 to Red Brylor/WRAZ Makn’Waves 39X. Exposed May 26 – Aug 15 to Red WRAZ Big Rock 7D. There is a strong influence of maternal sires throughout this ones pedigree. If you were through the Agribition yards a couple years back her sire Ghost Rider 95C was hard to miss. We don’t have many daughters and won’t part with many. He and his full brother 12B are high on my list of Ghost Rider sons to date. We had to part with 95C way too soon but fortunately the good folks at Double C allowed me the opportunity to buy back his full brother 12B. Trina 183E is another one I would rather keep at home but selling top quality females is our goal so here she is! Trina 183E is the result of an embryo package I purchased at Red Round Up from fellow breeder and good friend Jeff Fraser. I really appreciate how she is put together and the strength of her dam Trina 6N who has 23 progeny. Red Kodiak 3A will only add to the maternal greatness here. She just may have future donor potential!!AI May 16 to Red Cockburn Assassin 624D. Exposed May 21 – Aug 15 to Red WRAZ Big Rock 7D. Preg check Aug 27 indicates WRAZ 7D breeding in June. The Countess Cow family has been a mainstay for many Red Angus breeders across the land. Her dam Countess 5C was a Red Round Up selection that I purchased as an open heifer from RACK Red Angus. If you are looking for a slightly different pedigree on this proven Countess line then this one might be of interest. Her dam is very feminine with a very calm temperament. There have been very few Best Man females sold to date so pick one up while you can.AI May 14 to Red Cockburn Assassin 624D. Exposed May 21 – Aug 15 to Red WRAZ Big Rock 7D. I expect a solid ROI on these Millenium females. We purchased Millenium 75B to produce females on the strength of his beautiful dam. McMillen’s felt she was one of the top producing females in their Red Angus herd. The calving ease he passes on while maintaining body length is a bonus. There is a lot of flexibility with your next service sire to fit your own market needs.AI May 15 to Red Cockburn Assassin 624D. Exposed May 21 - Aug 15 to Red WRAZ Big Rock 7D. Preg checked Aug 27 favorable to WRAZ 7D. MooCall Collar detected a June 26 breeding.

Kuruba 140E is a very eye appealing daughter of Ghost Rider 95C. He adds eye appeal and softens up his daughters – they are typically looser made, good haired and easier keeping cattle. Her dam 132C is top shelf on production already at this young age and has proven her fertility. Her weakness if you can call it a weakness is she puts everything into her calf and goes a little hard on herself. This mating was to improve on that so called weakness.AI May 18 to Red Cockburn Assassin 624D. Exposed May 21 – Aug 15 to Red WRAZ Big Rock 7D. Preg check Aug 27 is a tough call - a week short for the AI date. The MooCall Collar shows a possible June 20 breeding but no observation (the MooCall collar heats were observed and recorded). This one is just flat out interesting. If you are looking for a black red carrier female that maintains condition well in a forage based programhave a close look here – she is definitely above average on forage conversion. These Kodiak 3A females have proven themselves very well across many regions in a wide variety of programs. There are top end very desirable red and black genetics throughout her pedigree. She is bred early to WRAZ 12B – a son of Ghostrider with great muscle definition and proven calving ease. Exposure to WRAZ 12B - April 23 - August 15. Preg checked Aug 27 as definitely over 3 months. Her dam WRAZ 29B by Ghost Rider is another one of the direct Serebl 95N daughters that is a little more moderate in stature and doing a real nice job. We had a bull injury at the start of breeding so I submitted both sire choices and requested a DNA kit to be sure – I dropped the ball on getting the DNA test sent away but it should be done by sale time.Same cornerstone cow family as 40F and 154E – I already stated there is a cow family opportunity here!

If you are looking for an easy doing calving ease sire with well above average ability to convert feed to beef then take a close look at Final Deal 78Z – there will be semen opportunities in the future. I am very pleased with the job he has done – calving ease sons will be available in our April bull sale. Dam Pteet 34Z has done a very nice job for us. 30This Serebl cow family has been our top producing cow family here at WRAZ. Serebl 760T is designated Premier Dam with the CAA based on her outstanding production. She has earned her right to be a donor female at WRAZ and we flushed her for the first time this past spring to the Big on Performance sire Red ACC Big Shot 118E. If you have not heard of him you should look him up! ABAA 118E. WRAZ & Brylor partnered on this high performing, high selling son of U2 Magnum from the Anderson’s – Anderson

Cattle Co. near Swan River, MB. Big Time Adj WW of 973. Adj YW of 1543. Make sure you stop by for a visit if you are in MB – they are a great family with deep roots in the livestock industry - you will be happy that you took the time!! These embryos are exportable to the US quite possibly the only embryos you will find available for the fall of 2018 and possibly for spring 2019 as well. There is a very good chance Big Shot is one of those bulls that may remain very exclusive. If you recall the past two P.O.P sales each had a mature donor female from the Serebl family. Both were direct daughters of Serebl 760T. She has done an admirable job producing both male and female progeny. I anxiously await the progeny from this flush. This could be your Big Shot at the next great one!!

On offer 3 conventional #1 frozen embryos exportable to the USA. Guarantee of 1 pregnancy if implanted by a certified embryologist. FOB Embryo Genetics Inc. Morden, MB. I have experience shipping to the US and Canada from Embryo Genetics and I would be happy to help organize the shipping.

A very honest Indicator 30Z on offer here. We selected Indicator as our choice of the MarMac program as their high seller back in 2013. He has surpassed every hurdle we have presented him. His legacy will become his hard working and easy keeping daughters. The cows behind this heifer are as correct and solid as any that you will find in this offering.Exposed to Red Kenray Staunch 61D April 8 - May 7Red Moose Creek Holt 58E May 8 - August 5

Eve 42F has been a favorite all summer during pasture checks and tours. If we were into showing this heifer would have been in our sting. Her sire has been on a streak of producing the winning kind. If you want to hang a halter on one don’t miss Eve 42F, she is that kind!!
