Every year more than 350 chemists, mechanical and other engineers are involved in developing lubricants in Pangbourne. Using the experience of experts from various fields allows us to develop integrated solutions that incorporate all performance characteristics of a designed product.

We perform all work in constant liaison with Castrol customers, when we discuss interim results obtained during product development. This cooperative approach gives an opportunity to consider all possible aspects of using each individual product. So, our technical specialists do more than just create lubricants to maximize performance.

They not only create new products, but also study the products' effect on various vehicle components, the performance of oils in different engines and find solutions to problems that auto manufacturers cannot solve on their own. Specialists from Pangbourne provide technical support for customers and partners if there are any questions during the use of our products.

The laboratories at the Castrol Technology Center in Pangbourne have state-of-the-art multipurpose equipment for performing tests and compounding various samples. Most of the research at the center is unique and can be carried out nowhere but here. The center performs an average of 65,000 independents

tests per year using more than one hundred different methods of analysis. Among other things, the list includes elementary quantitative analysis of pollutants and additives, analysis of physical properties such as density and plastic deformation of substances, wet chemical analysis, heat and corrosion treatment, oxygen treatment, etc.

Test benches are used to check the effective-ness of various fuels and lubricants at critical load on engines, transmissions and other vehicle units under specially created and controlled conditions. Most of the test benches used in Pangbourne were designed here and are one of a kind. Tests on an operating engine allow

DTM races are a strictly regimented champion-ship for touring cars that are very similar to Formula 1 race cars in their performance characteristics. However, in DTM there are no pilots competing on sponsors' money. The leading automotive manufacturers from the "German big three" (Audi, BMW, Mercedes) compete instead in an all-out competitive

struggle.Remember that Castrol is a partner of BMW

in professional car racing. The BMW Motorsport team uses Castrol EDGE oils in their race cars and officially recommend the products of the leading lubricant supplier. Thanks to combined effort, BMW's performance in DTM was a real triumph last year: the team won three championship titles (in the individual and team events, and won the Constructors Cup for BMW).

Jens Marquardt, the Director of BMW Motorsport, had this to say about it: "A long and close working relationship and the use of high-performance Castrol lubricants have brought us a lot of victories. Last year we won another title. That's amazing, and I would like to thank the team and our technical partners at Castrol for their hard work."

Nearly 45,000 people gathered for the start of the Moscow stage. There was something for everybody: they could visit the fan park of their favorite team, get autographs from famous pilots, buy souvenirs, or look at collections of accessories or the latest additions to the model line in the paddock. Events in the race unfolded like a real sports intrigue. BMW pilot Bruno Spengler, last year's winner and a contender for the title this year, fell back to the last place in the first turn due to a collision. His BMW colleague Augusto Farfus was luckier. During the race, he managed to hold third place, which not only brought BMW and its team to the podium, but also gave important points

of Manufacturer's Cup and the team champion-ship.

The DTM series is one of the most popular races among TV audiences worldwide. Forty six channels in 114 countries carry live broadcasts. The audience varied from 1.5 million to 2 million TV viewers. At the same time, an average of 30,000 people and a record of 147,000 specta-tors attended the races of the DTM stages. The races are held mainly in Germany, Austria, Great Britain, and the Netherlands. Starting from this year, the organizers decided to add a Russian stage, since our market has great strategic importance for the auto manufacturers participating in DTM.

Castrol was a partner of the event. All the cars tested during the journey had Castrol EDGE Professional in their engines as well as Castrol sticker on backs. Besides all the branding of the event had Castrol logo. Castrol has global strategic partnership with Volvo for more than 10 years. Close cooperation between 2 brands includes co-engineering projects, lubricants supply for first fill and to dealer network, developing Volvo dealers business, joint marketing activities, and sponsorship in motorsport.

The press-conference took place at Don Motors, Volvo dealer in Rostov-on-Don, where journalists learnt about innovative technologies used in Volvo V4 CC as well as about the different aspects of Volvo Castrol partnership. Afterwards, a multicolored procession of Volvo crossovers took to the road. A challenging journey awaited them. The finish of the test-drive was in one famous

AUDI RUSSIA HAS A FeMININe FACe. eLeNA SMIRNOVA HAS BeeN HeAD OF AUDI RUSSIA FOR SeVeRAL YeARS. IT IS NICe TO Be ABLe TO SPeAK RUSSIAN WITH THe HeAD OF ONe OF THe MOST POPULAR GeRMAN BRANDS IN RUSSIA.

Many auto manufacturers have seen a drop in sales in the last two years. What about Audi?

Despite a downturn in buyer activ-ity on the European market, the past year was very successful for Audi AG worldwide. Among the three large German companies, the growth trend in demand for Audi vehicles around the world and in Russia was the largest. The company had record production, sales, income, and profit figures. A total of 1.45 million people bought Audi cars, and income was 48.8 billion Euros. Audi AG is one of the world’s most successful auto manufacturers.

In Russia, 33,512 Audis went to buyers. Growth in demand for our products was a record 44.1%, while demand on the Russian automotive market increased by only 11% overall, and 28% in the premium segment on average.

As of the end of the first half of 2013, 780,500 Audi cars had been sold around the world, or 6.4% more than in the same period last year. Expansion and updating of the model line, the variety of programs we are ready to offer customers, and the availability in our warehouses of cars traditionally in high demand such as the Audi Q3, Audi Q5, and Audi Q7, allowed us to increase sales compared with last year and top the short list of premium brands in Russia based on sales in the first half of the year.

What is the best car for Russia? It's hard to give a short answer. However, we

can certainly judge from the preferences of Russian customers. In our country, there is greater demand compared with a lot of other markets for the powerful Audi Q5 and Audi Q7 SUV, and the sport series S and RS.

It’s important that 67% of Audi cars sold

in our country are equipped with the quattro all-wheel drive system. This popularity is no coincidence, since the quattro system shows its best qualities in tough Russian weather and road conditions and really boosts the car's safety, while revealing its sporty nature and increasing driving pleasure.

The customer is the focus of Audi's strategy around the world. People are our strategic priority. To emphasize Russia's strategic importance, our company is supporting an event of great importance for the whole country, the 22nd Winter Olympic Games in Sochi. Preparations for the Olympics are nearly complete, and Audi's division in Russia has made special modifications to Audi Q3, Audi Q5 and Audi Q7 models in honor of the Olympics. There are 365 cars in the Sochi Collection differing from standard models in their special options and designer components. Another model available only on our market is an Audi Q7 in the Sport quattro version. The version is distinguished by dramatic sport styling from the German tuner ABT.

What are the development prospect's for the brand's model line?

Expanding the model line is one of the company's key strategies. In the last several years, Audi has taken a leap into a number of new segments at once, and 2013 is no exception. The year began with the premiere of the Audi RS Q3, a compact sport SUV with all-wheel drive and a 310 hp engine that can accelerate to 100 km/h in 5.5 s.

Audi plans to maintain the high expansion rate of the model line and individual technologies. To do this, Audi is implement-ing an unprecedented investment campaign:

nearly 11 billion Euros will be invested in various production areas by 2015.

As far as 2013 is concerned, Audi's Russian customers can expect a lot of interesting premieres. They include Audi A3 Sportback, Audi S3 Sportback, Audi RS 5 Cabriolet, Audi RS 6 Avant, Audi RS 7 Sportback, Audi RS Q3, and long-awaited Audi A3 Sedan. This last car is especially worth mentioning. Audi is the first of the three large German companies to offer a sedan in the compact car segment.

What are the advantages of Audi models over direct competitors?

Our cars have a full set of advanced innovative solutions for safety, infotainment and auxiliary systems that go far beyond the usual equipment for premium models. These "intelligent" solutions include Audi pre sense front installed in our new Audi A3 Sedan. It can activate the car's braking mechanisms to almost full power if there is a threat of collision. Besides that, one of key competencies of Audi is a simpler design. A car manufactured using this technology is easier to control, which means we can offer the customer a vehicle with a high level of safety and fuel economy.

The key to Audi's success is a wide model range and a high service level at all stages of customer relations, both at the time of sale and after it, during operation. The special Audi Credit program has been developed for our customers, so they can buy a car using the financial instruments offered by partner banks. Together with them, we follow market trends closely for changes in the car loan market and study our customers' needs. Last year, about 25% of Audi cars were bought on credit through the Audi Credit program. We plan to increase this figure in 2013.

Audi has a very long and successful history in world car racing. Today the high-tech Audi R8 e-tron quattro and Audi RS 5 DTM are in the first place in various international car racing championships, including the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) with the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans and the purpose-built DTM series. Grand victories on racetracks around the world highlight Audi's technical superiority and strengthen

its positions on the world's most important markets.

Furthermore, all our cars, whether it's an Audi R8 sports car, an Audi TT coupe, or an Audi A8 executive sedan, have their own unique look with a powerful emotional component. The "allure of contemporary de-sign" — this is how our customers rate our cars.

How is the partnership between Audi and Castrol developing?

Very successfully. One of its obvious symbols is the Castrol name on the oil filler cap of each engine coming off the assembly lines at our plants. Castrol EDGE Professional LongLife III 5W-30 is the only motor oil recommended by Audi. It was developed in close coopera-tion of the companies' designers, engineers, and production managers, and meets all the requirements of modern Audi engines. More than thirty of our partners who are official Audi dealers in various Russian cities are also Castrol partners. We have common interests, and I am confident, we have a very bright future.

presentations related to the current situation on the commercial vehicle market as a whole, the development prospects for commercial transport, current problems, and feasible solutions. Keith O’Connell, Chief Technology Specialist at the Castrol Technology Center in Pangbourne, England, represented Castrol at the summit. The topic of his presentation was reduced demand for fuel and cutting harmful emissions.

Most consumers know Castrol mainly as an experienced developer of lubricants for cars and motorcycles. However, the company's business goes far beyond this. Castrol's other business lines include designing and manufacturing products for the power industry, transportation, construction and excavation, refrigeration systems, metalworking, and production of synthetic materials. In these business lines the company works in close cooperation with leading equipment manufacturers in order to develop and supply

lubricants that best meet the specific requirements of each line.

for all these years they never had any technical problems with the performance of Castrol transmission fluids and motor oils. In 2010 Castrol and KamAZ signed a new contract on expanding their technical and marketing partnership, and Castrol became the sports team's sponsor and technical partner.

Castrol is an enthusiastic supporter of car racing, and as a sponsor for many successful teams, helps them reach new heights. Castrol is a partner with KamAZ and Volkswagen in the Dakar series, with BMW and SEAT in the WTCC series, with Ford in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), with Škoda in the IRC championship, and with Honda in the MotoGP and World Superbike motorcycle races.

"When the team was training for Dakar 1994, we met with Castrol representatives. They not only told us a lot of interesting things about Castrol products, but also immediately offered to test Castrol in actual race conditions," says six-time Dakar winner Vladimir Chagin, talking about the choice of Castrol. First, the oil under-went laboratory tests, and then team drivers from Yaroslavl tested it to see if Castrol could be used in highly supercharged racing engines.

"Of course, the real test was the race," Chagin, who holds the record for the number of Dakar victories, continues." They offered us the company’s full product range of motor oil and two kinds of transmission fluid. Our KamAZ vehicles for Dakar 1994 were filled with Castrol motor oil. One, two and three Dakar rallies went by, and now we're finally convinced that we made the right choice. We haven't used any other oils but Castrol products since then, and we're completely satisfied. For all the time we've been using them, we've never had any technical problems or breakdowns due to substandard performance or poor quality of Castrol products."

Performance for Volvo

Specially for GAZelles

ASTROL has been collaborating with Volvo since 2002 and with Jaguar Land Rover since 2004. These relationships include joint develop ment of lubricants to achieve the best fit of their properties

to the design of specific engines and transmis-sions. As a result, the use of Castrol oils guarantees the manufacturer's stated performance and lifetime of engines and other assemblies. The Castrol logo is placed on the oil filler cap of Volvo, Jaguar, and Land Rover engines.

Castrol EDGE oils have been developed using enhanced oil technology with the involvement of leading auto manufacturers and tested in car races.

The Fluid Strength TechnologyTM strengthens the oil film and allows the oil to adapt to any engine operating conditions. Its effectiveness

C has been confirmed by tests, which showed that Castrol EDGE motor oils:

— were up to 40% more effective in reducing the metal/metal contact area*;

— were up to 35% more stable under peak loads*.

The enhanced oil film reduces the contact area be-tween metal surfaces. As a result, more of the power generated in the engine is spent on mov-ing the vehicle; i.e. friction losses are minimized. Thus, friction losses are reduced and the engine's output becomes more efficient.

Castrol EDGE 0W-30 A5/B5 provides exceptional protection for the engine even under peak load and allows to realize the engine's full potential. It also guarantees high fuel economy and outstanding wear protection throughout the service interval

CASTROL introduces the new Castrol Vecton 10W-40 motor oil with SYSTEM 5™ technology designed for newer generation GAZelles, including the GAZelle Business and GAZelle NEXT equipped with Cummins engines.

This product is also suitable for previous generations of gasoline engines. Modern engines operate in constantly changing conditions that affect their performance. Castrol Vecton 10W-40 motor oil with

SYSTEM 5™ technology adapts to these changes to maximize key performance indicators. For the convenience of car owners, Castrol Vecton 10W-40 will be sold in 3 and 7 l containers, which is more useful, given the volume of oil pans for Cummins ISF 2.8 and ISF 3.8 engines.

Advantages— Fuel consumption: resists increased oil

viscosity up to 40%* more effectively, while

maintaining optimum fuel consumption. — Oil consumption: prevents the formation

of deposits on pistons up to 25%* more effectively, thus reducing lubricant consumption.

— Oil change intervals: disperses contaminants up to 40%* more effectively, which helps increase maintenance intervals.

eDGe MeeTS THe PeOPLeFrom January to June 2013 Castrol Ukraine ran a campaign to promote Castrol EDGE motor oils. Adding Castrol EDGE 5W-40 to the lineup helped popularize the brand in the Ukraine. Sales outlets received advertising promotional materials like "Castrol EDGE. Recommended by Leading Auto Manufacturers" and "Castrol EDGE. Now in the Popular 5W-40". During this promotion, Castrol Ukraine and individual distributors launched a joint incentive program for employees at retail sales outlets and service centers.

For example, the distributor AJAX AUTO ran a promotion for its customers in the eastern Ukraine (Kharkov, Sumy, Poltava, Donetsk, and Lugansk). With the purchase of two 4-liter cans of Castrol EDGE 5W-40, the customer was offered a top-up of a 1-liter can of oil for 1 hryvna. At the same time, the distributor FORSAZH ran a campaign in the central Ukraine and Odessa on other conditions. A customer who purchased

one 4-liter can and one 1-liter can of Castrol EDGE 5W-40 received a 10% discount on the total purchase amount.

By the end of the action sales of Castrol EDGE had increased by 24% compared to the first half of the previous year. Congratulations to the distributors' sales teams for their achievement!

ŠKODA 24 HOURS PROGRAM

In 2013, as part of its partnership with ŠKODA, Castrol Ukraine supported the ŠKODA 24 Hours Assistance program. This program provides ŠKODA owners with free technical assistance and other services throughout the warranty period. The list of services includes, for example, help in changing a tire, battery charging, thawing door locks, towing, and supplying gas. All ŠKODA dealerships in the Ukraine also had posters (spiders) with information on the program and recognizing Castrol EDGE Professional as the program’s official partner.

WINNeR'S CUP IN THe UKRAINeAt the end of the Škoda Castrol Aftersales Cup dealership competition between European countries, Ukraine, represented by Škoda importer Eurocar LLC, was in the first place. The main criterion for determining the winner of this competition was the increase in sales of genuine Škoda spare parts (50% of the total) and oil from the Castrol Professional group (50% of the total) in 2013 compared to the previous year. Sales of Castrol Professional oil in particular increased by more than 110%. We would like to thank all Škoda dealers who took part in the competition and Eurocar LLC for a productive and successful partnership!

MAGNATeCAn action to promote and increase sales of Castrol Magnatec motor oils was carried out in the second quarter of 2013 throughout the Ukraine. A customer who purchased two cans of Castrol Magnatec 10W-40 from an official distributor could purchase a can of Magnatec 5W-40 at and additional 20% discount. When this campaign was being launched, representatives of Castrol Ukraine and distributors' sales teams held more than 40 individual meetings with the largest players on the Ukraine's oil market and gave a presentation of the sales program. It is worth noting that the action was very well received by distributors, stores, and service centers. You can read about the campaign results in the next issues of Castrol News.

"Perfection"SeTRA LUBRICANTS KAZAKHSTAN LLP HAS BeeN AWARDeD THe "PeRFeCTION" NATIONAL MARK OF qUALITY, THe DeSIGNATION FOR THe CASTROL TRADeMARK IN KAZAKHSTAN. We NOTe THAT CASTROL WAS THe FIRST MOTOR OIL BRAND IN KAZAKHSTAN TO ReCeIVe THIS AWARD.

He BeST manufacturers on the goods and services market from Kazakhstan and abroad were present at a ceremony held in Almaty on June 15.

The National League of Consumers of Kazakhstan has been studying the goods and services market

in the country since 2000. Based on results, they annually award the "Perfection" national mark of quality to the best companies. A special article on how to choose the proper Castrol motor oil and protect yourself against fakes was published on the League's website.

The key operating principles of Setra Lubricants Kazakhstan — technological leader-ship, a drive to win, and knowing its business — are half the battle in the prestige contest. Once again, it highlights the impeccable quality of Castrol products.

A DReAM BeCOMeS ReALITYThe "Castrol — Lamborghini. A Dream Becomes Reality" action was held in Kazakhstan from March 15 to May 31, 2013. Two hundred and fifty sales outlets in 12 cities in Kazakhstan and Castrol motor oil customers who participated in the "SMS hunt" fought for the chance to test a luxury Lamborghini on the legendary Super Trofeo race track in Italy.

Stickers with a tear-off part for the seller were placed on cans of EDGE and Magnatec motor oils taking part in the action. After a sale, sellers at the outlets sent an SMS with the code shown on the tear-off part and received a guaranteed prize of a cell phone balance top-up, which was higher for the sale of a can of EDGE than for Magnatec. Nearly 17,000 SMS were sent during the action, including more than 6,000 for EDGE and more than 10,000 for Magnatec.

The final draw for the grand prizes was held on June 10 for sales outlets that sent the most SMS during the action. The grand prizes were certificates with a face value of 10,000, 25,000, 50,000, and 100,000 tenge to buy consumer electronics, and three trips to Italy to test-drive a Lamborghini for sales outlets and one for customers. You can read about the results in the next issues of Castrol News.

"MYSTeRY CUSTOMeR"The "Mystery Customer" action was launched in Kazakhstan on June 15 in order to promote sales among outlets sellers.

As part of the program, Castrol representatives make assessment visits to sales outlets as potential customers. Depending on how well an outlet meets all program criteria, the Castrol representative and the seller fill out an assessment card that indicates the criteria and the number of points accumulated for

the visit. Based on the results of all visits, outlets that have accumulated the most points and have recommended Castrol at least four times will have the chance to participate in the final draw for prizes.

In order to win a prize, sellers must meet the following conditions:

— they must recommend Castrol lubricants first of all;

— they must display Castrol motor oils as recommended;

— they must ensure the availability of the Castrol lubricant product range.

A sales outlet that meets all of the above conditions will receive a guaranteed prize from the "Mystery Customer" and earn points toward the final draw for prizes.

During the first visit by a "Mystery Customer", sellers at outlets had received a score of 78% of Castrol lubricants recommendations.T

He "Experts Recommend Castrol" action aimed at employees of retail stores selling automotive chemicals and spare parts ended in June. The action was very simple: a Castrol representative posing as a customer visited a sales outlet

participating in the action and asked which motor oil he should buy. The salesperson's task was to recommend a Castrol product. Then the mystery customer took off his "mask" and filled in a checklist together with the salesperson describing the availability of Castrol products

and compliance with the planogram. The results of the action exceeded

expectations: according to Castrol specialists, the initial objective was to make salespersons recommend Castrol products first in at least 70% of the sales outlets participating in the actions compared with the current 60%. According to the results of the action, 90% of salespersons recommend Castrol today.

ETRA Lubricants and Moscow distributor of Castrol lubricants Berg Holding launched a bonus program for independent vehicle service centers (IVSC) in July. This program gives service centers a great opportunity to gain extra

advantages from purchasing Castrol products from an official distributor.

The program works as follows. When IVSC make purchases, they earn bonus points that they can later exchange for promotional materials, expendables, gifts, and souvenirs with the Castrol logo. The main objectives

of the program are to increase the independent service centers‘ loyalty to the Castrol brand and the distributor. However, this is actually mutually beneficial cooperation. Expanding sales of fully synthetic Castrol EDGE and Castrol Magnatec motor oils increases the income of IVSC, and using the branding of a leading world lubricant manufacturer increases the number of visits to the center by attracting new customers and making current customers more loyal. CASTROL MAKeS LUBRICANTS NOT ONLY FOR CARS AND MOTORCYCLeS, BUT ALSO FOR SPeCIALIZeD eqUIPMeNT. THIS INCLUDeS eqUIPMeNT THAT HeLPS WHOLe CITIeS BUILD AND GROW. IN THIS ISSUe We PReSeNT A RePORT FROM THe CONSTRUCTION SITe OF THe KHODYNSKOe POLe SUBWAY STATION ON THe THIRD INTeRCHANGe CIRCUIT.

To Build and to Live

ASTROL is the recognized world leader in production of lubricants for a wide variety of equipment. "Variety" means more than just commercial vehicles and motorcycles. What about tunnel boring machines for driving

subway tunnels? Castrol and BP manufacture lubricants used around the world for heavy construction equipment, refrigeration equipment, mining equipment, and much more. To convince us of this, specialists of Redital, an official Castrol distributor, called us to the construction site of the Khodynskoe Pole subway station on the Third Interchange

Circuit of the Moscow subway (from Delovoy Center station to Nizhnyaya Maslovka station). Association ENGEOCOM CJSC, one of Redital's main customers, is currently building it.

The tunnel boring machine (TBM) nicknamed "Natalie" from the French company NFM needs 5 tonnes of oil to operate normally. ENGEOCOM alone has at least six TBM available. Now imagine the monthly lubricant purchases/deliveries that Redital makes. It is obvious that this Castrol business line needs a separate official distributor.

COur Best CustomerMikhail Rudyak founded Association ENGEOCOM CJSC in 1989. Today ENGEOCOM is one of Russia's largest construction investment holdings. In 24 years the company has successfully carried out more than 200 construction projects in Russia and abroad in such areas as road transportation infrastructure, subway engineering, civil engineering, and hydraulic engineering.

"ENGEOCOM's important contribution to major Moscow, Russian and foreign projects is a given...Thousands of employees are well paid on time for their work and creativity. We are steadily advancing in our work and favorite business," this is how the company's founder Mr. Rudyak described its role and mission. "ENGEOCOM is a strategically important partner for Redital and one of its largest customers."www.engeocom.ru

"NATALIe", "JULIA", AND "KATYUSHA""Natalie", "Julia" and "Katyusha". And "Maria", "Sofia", and "Victoria". These are the nicknames of tunnel boring machines, or more simply tunneling machines, belonging to ENGEOCOM. When fully assembled, this unit reminds you of a huge tank car with the size of a two-story house. At the front there are boring tools with blades. Inside the tank there is a special mechanism for automatically laying tunnel rings and system for extracting rock and passing it back. You can see an assembled TBM only at an exhibition or on the Internet, since the machine is usually assembled inside the pit. The pit is about 28 meters deep at the construc-tion site of the future Khodynskoe Pole station. That is deep enough to fit a nine-story apartment building or the Arena Khimki stadium.

It is a tradition to give nicknames to complex equipment or fearsome weapons — there is something national about it. During the Second World War a "Katyusha" was a rocket launcher or multiple rocket launcher. Another example was the 82-millimeter 2B9 mortar, popularly known as "Vasilek". Then there were and still are the

Page 23: Castrol News #2

infamous "Cheremukha" and "Siren" tear gases and "Topol" rockets... In other words, it is not surprising. However, female nicknames suit tunnel boring machines better. Firstly, because their purpose is to bring peaceful benefits to countries and cities. Secondly, all specialists operating these machines have their own special relations with them. This becomes obvious when you visit the construction site. Even deep underground in semi-darkness, where there may be a ground-water lens, running soil, water-saturated sand and who knows what else only an arm's length away, inside the machine it is always clean and tidy. The operator's cab is comfortable and quiet. A small paper image hangs above the control panel. There is no hustle and bustle

Facts and FiguresThe simultaneous startup of two tunnel boring machines in the pit at the construction site of the Khodynskoe Pole station took place at the end of April 2013. From April through July, a Lovat machine ("Maria") drove 328 meters of tunnel toward Petrovsky Park station, while an NFM machine ("Natalie") drove 337 meters toward Delovoy Center station. During the work, the shields underwent manufacturing setup and are now ready to move to their design speed of 250 meters of tunnel per month.

The NFM machine is driving the right main line tunnel from Khodynskoe Pole to Delovoy Center. The tunnel is 6,200 meters long. After driving is complete, the TBM will be dismantled on Testovskaya Street near the Moscow City business center. This machine (series and model 1331/342/0920) was manufactured in France in 2012. The shield is 82 meters long. Generating capacity is 2.1 MW. A ring-type stacker is lining the tunnel with tubing. The lining has an inner diameter of 5.7 meters and an outer diameter of 6.3 meters. The tubing is 1.2 meters wide.

The Lovat machine ("Maria") is driving the left main line tunnel from Khodynskoe Pole to Petrovsky Park. The tunnel is 1,550 meters long. After driving is complete, the machine will be dismantled and then moved back to Khodynskoe Pole, where it will start driving the right main line tunnel to Petrovsky Park. The shield (RME238SE, series 22401) was manufactured in Canada. The TBM is 84 meters long. Generating capacity is 2.2 MW. A ring-type stacker is lining the tunnel with tubing. The lining has an inner diameter of 5.3 meters and an outer diameter of 5.8 meters. The tubing is 1.4 meters wide.www.engeocom.ru

familiar from feature films about construction sites. Everyone does his job. There is no dirt, disorder, or good old pickaxes. Everything is automated, employees are dressed in clean protective clothing, and everything is orderly, fast, and modern. Even the rock — lumps of earth and clay — is removed from the tunnel by a miniature train on temporary tracks. The tunnel itself looks recent and completed, but the builders say everything has just started, and the engineering and track works are still ahead. However, you can already walk through the entrance of the future station and imagine what it will look like.

Here, at the bottom of the pit, it is easy to understand how quickly Moscow is being built, even if not all at the same time. Very soon

hundreds and thousands of Muscovites and visitors to the capital will move quickly and comfortably through these tunnels every day on their way to work or recreation. The appearance of the new station, as well as the entire subway system, will transform the whole urban environment from Savelovsky Station to the Moscow City international business center on Krasnopresnenskaya Embankment.

For Machines and MechanismsThanks to advanced technologies, knowledge of its business, and vast practical experience, Castrol is always a step ahead of its competitors. The quality of our products has been confirmed by the history of development of many industrial sectors, where Castrol lubricants have been the preferred choice for over a hundred years.

Redital is an official distributor of Castrol and BP lubricants for industrial and commercial machines and mechanisms in Russia. Partnership between the companies has been ongoing since 2001. Redital supplies lubricants of a recognized world leader for mining and power generating equipment, construction, refrigeration and metalworking equipment, farm machinery, and equipment for water and air transportation.www.redital.ru

Myth No. 1If the oil turns dark, you should change it right away, even if you have driven

less than a thousand kilometers.

Myth No. 4You can tell when to change the oil by looking at it.

Myth No. 2Oil in one batch is always of the same color.

Myth No. 3Oil change intervals are the same for all types of vehicles.

Myth No. 5You do not have to change oil regularly.

FACT:Do not worry if the motor oil changes color. It becomes dark due to the detergents contained in modern lubricants that dissolve products of incomplete fuel combustion. In this way, they keep the engine parts clean and protect them from contamination. Fine soot particles also cause oil to darken. The speed of color change also depends on fuel quality, consumption and the vehicle’s operating conditions; for example, poor quality gasoline leaves more combustion products.

FACT:The recommended oil change intervals are specified by the vehicle manufacturers, and it is important to follow these instructions when making this decision. There may be exceptions, but there should be good reasons for this, for example, when the poured oil contains the maximum permissible amount of solid particles. It is also worth changing the oil if it is still light-colored after you have driven more than 5,000 km: this means the oil is not doing its job, and all dirt and soot particles are deposited on engine parts.

FACT:Manufacturers pay a lot of attention to the lubricating properties of products, but not their color, since slight differences are considered normal. The usual color of new oil is from amber to light brown. However, there are exceptions. For example, a distinguishing feature of the Castrol EDGE professional line is a special substance that glows in UV light, and the oil has a green tint.

FACT:The oil change intervals for cars are quite close, but they are still determined independently for each brand, and may be either fixed or flexible at the discretion of the manufacturer of a particular car brand. For commercial vehicles, the oil change interval depends on the operating conditions and may differ by several times. In some cases, the intervals will be 20,000–30,000 kilometers, and in other cases up to 150,000 kilometers. The intervals can be determined more precisely by laboratory analysis of samples taken when the equipment is operating.

FACT:If you miss a scheduled motor oil change, deposits will form in the engine with increasing intensity. This will lead to slower oil circulation and deterioration of engine lubrication, which increases engine wear and may cause a major breakdown or engine seizure in future.
