With the switchgear type SIMOSEC

we are setting new standards with respect

to modularity and switching functions.

SIMOSEC combines air-insulated technology

with a gas-insulated switching function in a

space-saving design.

SIMOSEC uses the well-known three-

position switch-disconnectors and vacuum

circuit-breaker types 3AH5 (fixed-mounted)

and 3AH6 (withdrawable), which have proven

their efficiency for years. To reach a high

degree of climatic resistance and reduced

application of insulating material – which

means minimum fire load –, the housing of

the SIMOSEC three-position switch is her-

metically welded.

As for the complete function, this means:

• No transverse insulation between phases

• Air-insulated system for the busbar and

the cable connections, requiring low main-

tenance

• Three-position switch with air-insulated

primary connections and gas-insulated

quenching principle

Furthermore, SIMOSEC offers all panel ver-

sions required to combine the optimal and

most cost-efficient solution for each applica-

tion, out of the modular product range.

SIMOSEC – The modular switchgear up to 24 kV and for busbar currents up to 1250 A

ApplicationAir-insulated switchgearSIMOSEC for indoor installationare used for power distributionin power supply utilities andindustrial plants.Their modular structure enablesspace-saving use for all applica-tions, such as• substations and customer

transfer substations, as wellas distribution and switchingsubstations of power supplyand public utilities

• public buildings,like high-rise buildings,railway stations, hospitals

• industrial plants, like windpower stations, port facilities, fibrous material and foodstuffindustry and stand by powergenerating plants

Our switchgear SIMOSEC is avail-able for• voltages up to 24 kV• short-time withstand currents

up to 25 kA• feeder currents up to 630 A• busbar currents up to 1250 AFeaturesSIMOSEC switchgear are factory-assembled, type-tested, three-pole metal-enclosed switchgearfor indoor installation accordingto IEC 60298 and VDE 0670 Part 6.The main features are:• Phases arranged one behind

the other• Top-mounted busbar• Air-insulated busbar system

and air-insulated cable connec-tion system requiring low main-tenance

• Metal-enclosed three-positionswitch, with air-insulated pri-mary connections and gas-insulated quenching principle

• 3AH5 vacuum circuit-breaker,metal-enclosed, fixed-mountedin metal-enclosed housing

• 3AH6 vacuum circuit-breaker,air-insulated, withdrawabletype

• Pressure relief to the rear andto the top

• Air-insulated cable connectionsystem for conventional cablesealing ends

• Cubicle-type or metal-clad pan-el versions

The advantages of SIMOSEC

Personal safety

• All switching operations can be performedwith the panel front closed

• Metal-enclosed switchgear, cubicle-typeor metal-clad

• HV HRC fuses and cable sealing ends areonly accessible if the associated feedersare earthed

• Logical mechanical interlocks. e.g. for thecable connection compartment

• Capacitive voltage detection system toverify safe isolation from supply

• Feeders are earthed through make-proofearthing switches

Operational reliability

• Use of proven components, such asoperating mechanisms, three-positionswitch-disconnector or vacuum circuit-breaker

• Metal-clad panels (metallic partitions be-tween busbar and switching device aswell as between switching device andcable connection compartment)

• Cubicle-type panels with metallic partitionbetween the busbar and the cable con-nection compartment

• Metal-enclosed and hermetically sealedthree-position switches, gas-insulated:– Sealed for life due to welded switch-

disconnector enclosure as well as weld-ed bushings and mechanical operatingsystem

– No transverse insulation betweenphases

• Operating mechanisms of switching de-vices accessible outside their housings

• Mechanical switch position indicationsintegrated in the mimic diagram

• Switchgear interlocking system with log-ical mechanical interlocks

Re-availability

• Metallic compartmentalization of busbars, switching devices and cable connectioncompartment

• Separate pressure relief for each compart-ment

• Cable testing without isolating the busbar• Three-phase current transformers for se-

lective shutdown of circuit-breaker feeders

Cost-efficiency

Low ”life-cycle costs” and maximum availa-bility throughout the entire service life of theproduct thanks to• Air-insulated three-position switch with

gas-insulated quenching principle• Vacuum circuit-breaker 3AH• Minimum space requirements• Easily extendable switchgear concept
