With conventional reels, as line is pulled off the spool in fish-fighting-drag-mode the spool is locked to the main drive gear. The spool and drive gear turn in concert with each other as the line is pulled from the spool. With the Ardent Edge’s Drag Tracking Technology the level wind drive gear is locked to the main drive gear while the reel is in fish-fighting-drag-mode. This feature causes the level wind to move in concert with the rotation of the spool and keeps the level wind eyelet aligned with the line position on the spool. This action eliminates any angle of the line from the spool to the level wind eyelet and thereby reduces line stress and line jump caused by this sharp angle. Drag Tracking Technology insures smooth, consistent drag pressure and reduces line stress that can cause line breakage when fighting trophy fish.

A liquid microlubricant containing a suspended dry lubricate with an anti-corrosion additive. Ardent Reel Supreme dissolves grease, oil and salt on contact. It removes contaminants and debris from the metal and fills the pores of the metal with microlubrication particles that are slippery, waterproof and more stable than grease or oil.
