This photo indicates the clean superior discharge of Dura-Buket plastic buckets. Picturedis a 9 x 6 plastic Dura-Buket running on a 30 head pulley at 62 RPMs for a belt speedof 487 FPM. This is an LP style bucket spaced on 4-3/8 centers.

STYLE SSExtensive testing has proven that the SS bucketscan be placed on closer cup centers than what hasbeen recognized in the industry. The SS cups areuniquely designed at a 45 angle, allowing bettercup fill and discharge.

STYLE LPThe LP cup has been modified on the back wall, thusreducing the cup depth. The main advantage ofDura-Buket LP bucket is that it can increase capacitiesup to 50% in existing elevator legs. This modificationdoes not change the discharge characteristic associat-ed with the original Dura-Buket SS bucket.

    How To Estimate Horsepower (HP)

    HPO (at headshaft) = W x H33,000

    W =Pounds per minute of material elevatedor bushels/hour x material wt./bushel

    60 min./hour

    H =Vertical lift in feet

The above formula will result in the theoretical horsepowernecessary. It is recommended that an additional 10% beadded for drive losses and up to 15% for elevator frictionand cup digging through the boot. To overcome chokedconditions, additional horsepower is required.

    How To Calculate Belt Speed

Head Pulley Diameter in Inches xHead Pulley RPM x .262 =Feet Per Minute (FPM)

The cup projections used with the appropriate head pulleydiameters are common engineering practices. The table ofspeeds is for reference only and does not mean that thebuckets will discharge perfectly running at all speeds in thisrange. Minor variations are permissible.

To find the capacity of any elevator, it is necessary to ascertain the contents of the cup in cubic inches, the spacing of the cup on the belt anthe speed of the belt in feet per minute. To do this, multiply the contents of the cup by the number of cups per foot. If the cups are spacedon 6 centers, for example, you would multiple the cubic inch capacity times 2. If on 8 centers, you would multiply the cubic capacity by1.5; if on 10 centers, by 1.2, and on 12 centers, by 1. The results will give you the contents in cubic inches of every running foot of belt.Refer to the chart for other spacing multipliers.

This result is then multiplied by the belt speed which will give the cubic inches discharged per minute. The result multiplied by 60 gives adischarge in cubic inches per hour. Divide the results by 2,150 which is the contents in cubic inches in one bushel and you have the capacin bushels per hour. Divide by 1,728 for contents in cubic feet. To find the tons per hour elevated, you must know the weight of the materelevated per cubic foot.

    RECOMMENDED BUCKET INSTALLATION

    INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

We recommend that the following instructions be followed to

    assure you long lasting services.

    Belt Application

    1. Attach bucket to the belt with 1/4, 5/16 or 3/8 elevator bolts.Stainless steel or plated bolts are recommended for corrosive

    materials.

    2. Use a leather washer between the nut and the bucket when

handling corrosive materials to facilitate the removal of rusty

elevator bolts. On other materials a leather washer is not

    necessary.

    3. On non-corrosive materials, place a flat steel washer inside the

bucket (as large O.D. as possible). Follow with spring lock

washer and then either a hex or square nut.

    4. Use power tool and tighten the elevator bolts until snug, then

use a wrench for the last two or three turns. Excessive pressure

is not necessary and should be avoided.

    5. When removing the bolts from the elevator bucket, do not use a

cutting torch. Dura-Buket polyethylene buckets will become

soft at temperatures over 225 F.

    -15-MAXI-SPLICE BELT FASTENING DEVICE

    DESCRIPTION

The Maxi-Splice is a mechanical clamping device with a simple three-piece construction. The patented design is for use on PVC and rubberbelting.

It accommodates belts of all thicknesses.

Standard splice bolts will accommodate up to 1/2 thick belting. Longerbolts are available for thicker belts.. Each splice set accommodates two inches of belt width. It is tested and approved by leading manufacturers of PVC and rubber

    belting.

    SPLICES

MAXI-SPLICE AB MAXI-SPLICE CI Non-ferrous metal of very high tensile strength Ferrous metal of moderately high tensile strength

Usable on belts up to 1200 PIW tensile Usable on belts of up to 600 PIW tensile Non-sparking, non-corroding and non-rusting Silver color Bronze color

    INSTALLATION

    1. First ensure the belt ends are square and even. If using the splicetemplate tape, apply the tape to mark the punching. Be sure to applythe tape squarely on the belt ends; then proceed to Step 4. If you are

not using the tape, go to Step 2.2. Draw a line approximately 4-1/4 from the belt end to use as the center

line for hole punching. Proper installation for even width belts willbegin just inside the belt edge. Odd belt widths require installation 1/2from the belt edge.

    3. Use the Maxi-Splice as a template to mark the hole locations forpunching. After marking the first hole, move over 2 and mark eachconsecutive hole.

    4. Punch both belt ends for 1/2 diameter bolts.5. The two end plates and center plate are used for firm belt gripping.

The end plates have two gripping areas the slotted gripping area ismounted toward the face of the belt and is followed by a series ofgripping teeth. These teeth are always mounted toward the tail of thebelt. The center plate is symmetrical and cannot be improperly

installed.6. IMPORTANT: We have supplied a 1/2 diameter, 4 long Grade 5 bolt

and nylon locking nut. The bolts must be torqued for Maxi-Splice toeffectively clamp. The torque requirement is 75 foot pounds for beltsup to and including 600 PIW belts greater than 600 PIW tensile require100 foot pounds of torque.

    7. Run the belt for thirty minutes; stop the leg and re-torque the bolts.
