Catalyst is the only museum in the UK which explores the science and technology behind the chemical industry and its impact on our lives past and present. Inside Catalyst there is a gallery of interactive hands-on exhibits called ‘Scientrific’, a museum exhibit called ‘Birth of an Industry’, a Puzzle Room and Observatory where you can look at views over Halton. Arriving at Catalyst
This is the entrance to Catalyst. When you arrive, you will need to buy a ticket from the pink reception desk. Our front of house staffed dressed in purple tshirts can help you.
Scientrific
Scientrific is our hands-on interactive gallery on the ground floor. Inside Scientrific you can play with our exhibits and do science experiments. Sometimes it can be noisy in Scientrific. We have ear defenders at reception to help with the noise.

Link Corridor and lift
To get to other floors you need to walk down the link corridor to our glass lift. If you do not want to take the lift you can also use the stairs. Birth of an Industry
Birth of an Industry is on the 1st floor. It tells the story of the chemical industry. Inside it is quiet and has low lighting. There are lots of things to read and films to watch.

Puzzle Room
In the puzzle room is on the 2nd floor. Here you can find different puzzles and games. This is a large room with natural day light. It is also quiet.
Observatory
The obveratory on the 4th floor is a glass room where you can look at some fantastic views. At the reception, you can book our Panoramic Halton Tablets available. These interactive tablets help you to explore the history of the area that you can see from the windows of the observatory gallery.

Cafe
This is the café. It is on the ground floor by the reception desk. It sells hot and cold food and drinks.
Volunteers
As well as staff, we have many friendly volunteers who work at Catalyst. They wear turquoise tshirts. They can help you find things and answer any questions.
