This will be a group audition. Please note that you must attend the movement call if you are auditioning for any of the following roles: Carl Hanratty, Frank Abagnale, Snr., Paula Abagnale, Brenda Strong, Carol Strong, Roger Strong and Ensemble. Please wear appropriate footwear (chorus heels for girls). No bare feet will be allowed. 10:00am DANCE CALL

This will be a group audition. Please note that you must attend the dance call if you are auditioning for any of the following roles: Frank Abagnale, Jnr., Agent Cod/Branton/Dollar, Stewardesses/Nurses and Male Dancers. Please wear form fitting dance attire and appropriate footwear (chorus heels for girls). No bare feet will be allowed. FROM 12:30pm VOCAL AUDITIONS The vocal auditions will be held in small groups at 30-minute intervals. You will need to prepare two contrasting 90 second pieces in a musical theatre style that best demonstrates your vocal ability. You will need to provide a backing (CD, AUX or USB) as no repetiteur will be available.

CALLBACKS WILL BE HELD ON WEDNESDAY 13th FEBRUARY 2019 AT SPOTLIGHT THEATRE. All auditions will be recorded for casting reference. Please arrive 10 minutes early for your audition to register with our team. If you are going to be late, simply can’t make it or just decide not to audition, please advise the production manager on 0437 752 872 so we are not holding up other auditionees waiting for you. Please note that if successful, you are committing to rehearsing three times a week until the show opens on the 17th of May 2019 and the four weeks of performances. It is the responsibility of the cast member to ensure that they negotiate work and other personal commitments in order to attend all rehearsals and performances. ABOUT THE SHOW

Based on the hit film and incredible true story, Catch Me If You Can is a splashy musical comedy about the high-flying adventures of a globetrotting con artist. Seeking fame and fortune, precocious teenager, Frank Abagnale, Jr. runs away from home with nothing more than his boyish charm, a big imagination and millions of dollars in forged cheques, that is, until FBI agent, Carl Hanratty comes on the scene. Catch Me If You Can is a big and bright spectacle with high-energy dance numbers and a riveting story.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN

The creative team are looking for actors over the age of 16 who can convincingly play the following roles: FRANK ABAGNALE, JR. Male, 18-30. Strong vocalist with intermediate dance ability. American Accent. Our story's conniving and charismatic protagonist, he is a handsome and youthful con artist. Grew up learning to disappear into another skin to avoid his problems. He eventually falls in love with Brenda and desperately tries to change his ways. Vocal range: G2 - C5 CARL HANRATTY Male, 35-45. Strong vocalist with basic dance ability. American Accent. An FBI agent leading the investigation and search for Frank Jr. A knowledgeable and habitual workaholic who idolises the moment he catches his perp. Lives a private life of loneliness and depression. Vocal range top: G2 - G4 FRANK ABAGNALE, SR. Male, 40-65. Strong vocalist with basic dance ability. American Accent. Frank Jr.'s father. He is an inspiration when it comes to swindling. Upbeat and fast-talking, he undergoes a series of progressive failures that leaves him a miserable drunk. A Frank Sinatra/Dean Martin type. Vocal range: F2 - G#4 PAULA ABAGNALE Female, 40-60. Strong vocalist with basic dance ability. French Accent. Frank Jr.'s gorgeous mother. She met Frank Sr. in France, during the war, but has fallen out of love. Caring and loving, with an underlying resentment toward her husband and son. Vocal range: A3 - C5 BRENDA STRONG Female, 18-30. Strong vocalist with basic dance ability. American Accent. A young nurse and Frank Jr.'s eventual love interest. Hard-working and initially insecure, she meets Frank Jr. after running away from a wedding. Comes to trust him but his true identity clouds her feelings. Vocal range: G3 - A5 CAROL STRONG Female, 35-50. Strong vocalist with basic dance ability. American Accent. Brenda's traditional mother. She is talkative and boisterous. Vocal range: Bb3 - A5 ROGER STRONG Male, 35-50. Strong vocalist with basic dance ability. American Accent. Brenda's conservative father. He is stern and interrogatory, but reveals himself to be deeply romantic. Vocal range: A2 - A4 AGENT COD Male, 25-45. Strong vocalist with intermediate dance ability. American Accent. A seasoned FBI agent in the fraud division. A regular guy punching a time clock. No special passion about his work. AGENT BRANTON Male, 25-45. Strong vocalist with intermediate dance ability. American Accent. FBI agent in the fraud division. A smart- ass.

AGENT DOLLAR Male, 20-25. Strong vocalist with intermediate dance ability. American Accent. A rookie, gun enthusiastic, FBI agent in the fraud division. Fresh out of college and new on the job. STEWARDESSES/NURSES Female, 16 - 30. Excellent dancers with strong vocal ability. All ethnicities to play stewardesses and nurses with featured vocal parts. Note: All auditionees wishing to be considered for Stewardesses/Nurses must be comfortable in revealing costumes and/or showgirl style outfits. MALE DANCERS Male, 16 - 30. Excellent dancers with strong vocal ability. All ethnicities to play various ensemble characters. ENSEMBLE Male and Female, 16-50. Basic movers with strong vocal ability. American Accent. All ethnicities to play various ensemble characters.
