FROM THE PASTOR ’S DESK . . .

My dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

At the time of this writing, I have not yet been to LeRoy for the Diaconate Ordination of Brother Daniel Bowen; so next week I will have all the details. Suffice it to say, we are all very proud of him. I look forward to being present at his ordination.

Be sure to check out your parish pastoral council. Their pictures are above the water fountain in the vestibule of the church. If you have any suggestions, be sure to chat with them.

You will remember that we had a beautiful candlelight procession with the Diocesan Pilgrim Statue on the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. Although Father Winkel and I could not be there because we were at a Convocation with all of the priests of the Diocese, I know that Deacon Chordas, Dennis Razayeski, and the Knights of Columbus did a wonderful job.

Did you know that we also have a Parish Pilgrim Statue? It comes to us from St. Margaret Mary and was part of an older tradition that was part of that parish. I would like to restore the tradition of the statue visiting the homes of our families. If you would like to have the Pilgrim Statue visit your home for a week, please call the rectory and reserve a time.

You will also notice a couple of new additions to the parish. In the Blessed Sacrament Chapel is a beautiful relief of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and St. Margaret Mary. This relief was in the Church of St. Margaret Mary and now has a prominent place within Sacred Heart of Jesus.

You will also see a new oriental rug in the sanctuary and also one in the St. Margaret Mary Room of the rectory. These beautiful additions are a gift from the Weaver Family. Thank you so very much.

May God’s blessings be yours this week. Father Ireland

Current water bill is $5,317.84 In June the bill was $1,629.72

The corresponding sewer bill for October is: $7,223.59 In June the bill was: $2,324.25

Attention Parishioners: Won’t you please consider joining the Cub Scouts of the parish in an activity to benefit Habitat for Humanity. Beginning next week, the scouts will be collecting gently used hand tools (or new ones you may have purchased or received as a gift that are still in the package). These will be given to Habitat for Humanity for the use of their volunteers. If you have larger items that could be used in the building of homes, please call the Parish Office (216.382.7601) before bringing them to the church. There will be receptacles available in the back of the Church to receive your donations. Thank you for your generous response to this very worthwhile organization.

Dear Parishioners,

This Thursday, November 13, is our Fall Parent-Teacher Conference Day. There will be an early dismissal at 1:30 p.m. Conferences are from 2-9 p.m. There is NO School on Friday, November 14. We are holding our first Scholastic Book Fair of the year this week-end. Hours are Saturday after the 4 p.m. Mass and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Fair will also run daily until the end of parent conferences on Thursday, November 13. It will be set up in rooms 1 and 2 of the Parish Family Center. There is an important Confirmation meeting for the parents of our 8th graders on Wednesday, November 12, at 7 p.m. in the Church Hall. This is their first step in preparation for their reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation. May God bless them and watch over them as they begin their journey for their big day in May. Please keep them in your prayers. We will say extra prayers on Veterans Day, Tuesday November 11, to honor all our veterans of war, both deceased and living. God bless those families who have suffered from the casualty of war and strife.

“Lord, grant me a heart of compassion so burdened for others’ needs, that I will show them mercy in attitudes, in words, and in deeds.” God Bless You, William DiBacco, Principal

ACADEMY NEWS . . .

It has come to our attention that 3 events escaped the scrutiny of the proofreaders of the November parish & school activities calendar which was included in last week’s bulletin. We apologize for these oversights. Please make note:

On Tuesday, November 11, the Women’s Guild meeting was omitted. They will gather at 7 p.m. in the St. Gregory the Great meeting room in the basement of the rectory.

On Wednesday, November 12, the meeting for parents of students preparing for Confirmation was omitted. That meeting will take place at 7 p.m. in the Church Hall (aka Knights’ Hall). It is a mandatory meeting. Parents who fail to attend will be required to make special arrangements to meet privately with Father Ireland.

On Monday, November 17, the meeting of the St. Vincent dePaul Society will take place at 7 p.m. in Mary’s Room.

STOCKING STUFFING FOR THE TROOPS AND

FOR THE POOR AND HOMELESS Lt. Bill Schaefer

One of our Brothers in Blue and his family needs our help. Lt. Bill Schaefer who is a 23-year veteran of the South Euclid Police Department and father of three, recently was diagnosed with a rare, life-threatening form of lung cancer. Like any strong family, the South Euclid Police Department and the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 80

is trying to help Bill and his family through this difficult time. On November 29, 2014, people will gather for a benefit dinner at Angelo’s Nido Italia Restaurante in Little Italy to support Bill.

There are several ways you can help us make this night a success and show Bill how much he is loved and appreciated. First, we are in need of items that will be put in the baskets that will be raffled off that night. Second, we are selling tickets for the event, which will include an authentic Italian feast, wine and dessert, for $50 each. Finally, we would welcome any monetary donations you would like to offer.

Please help us make a difference in the lives of Bill and his family through your generous monetary donations or your gift of raffle items. ALL donations must be received by November 15, 2014. Checks should be made payable to the South Euclid Fraternal Order of Police.

Please call 216.346.4543 to find out more about how you can help. Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you!

The Review Board for the Diocese of Cleveland needs two members: an individual with experience in investigations and a survivor of child sexual abuse who has completed a course of treatment. The Review Board advises the Bishop of Cleveland on keeping children safe from sexual abuse and examines allegations of sexual abuse of minors by clerics. Consider applying for the Review Board if you have an abiding interest in young people, and are an independent thinker, self-motivated, and able to make a significant time commitment.

Members of the Review Board are from varied life experiences who are in full communion with the Catholic Church. A term is five years. An application can be downloaded from http://www.dioceseofcleveland.org/download/child protection/ Review Board Application Guidance RevSept2014.pdf. The Diocese’s Policy for the Safety of Children in Matters of Sexual Abuse; Revised; 2007 is available at http://bit.ly/JlyGTh.

The deadline for application is December 1, 2014. Selected candidates will be notified for interviews. Call the Board Chair, Patricia Ritzers at 330.472.2158 with your questions.
