Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception January 26, 2020

.

Canon Jean Marie Moreau, from the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest, is in temporary residence at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception until the new Oratory of St. Francis de Sales in Sulphur becomes functional. While he is in residence at the Cathedral, he will be helping with Confessions and offer the Traditional Latin Mass daily. He will also be available to offer the other Sacraments in Extraordinary Form, i.e. Baptism, Wedding, Extreme Unc-tion, Funeral. Here is the schedule of the Traditional Latin Masses at the Cathedral while he is in residence here:

To officially welcome Canon Moreau, we will have a Potluck Dinner in the Ave Maria Hall on Sunday, January 26, after the 5:00 PM Extraordinary Form Mass. For each family attending, please bring a main dish and a small side dish of either a vegetable or dessert to share.

I was born near Tours, France, the city of St. Martin of Tours in 1959, the centennial year of St. Jean Marie Vianney’s passing to Heaven, and I was named after him. At 4 years old I told my Mom that I will be like the Curé of Ars…:) (which I failed :) My parents, Paul and Bernadette Moreau, were hard work-ing people, raising 11 children with their small agricultural business from their apples and pears orchards, grapes and other vegetable garden, in the Tours countryside.

In 1969 at 10 years old, I entered the minor diocesan seminary in Tours, which unfortunately closed a few years later. It lead me to secular studies of Mathematics, Eco-nomics and Political sciences until I found my vocation back with the Traditionalist movement in France. I became a member of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest, and was ordained to the Priesthood on October 7, 1992 in Rome, on the feast of the Holy Ro-sary, by the late Cardinal Pietro Palazzini. I served for 13 years in the beautiful Central Africa coun-try of Gabon, (1991-2004), then for 12 years in the USA from Green Bay, Wisconsin (2004-2008) to Oakland and San Jose, California (2008-2011) and then in Newark, New Jersey (2011-2016). Then I was sent to the island of Mauritius to take care of the new formed Latin Mass com munity and Hospital chaplaincy. On January 16, I arrived for the first time in Lake Charles and received a warm and wonderful welcome from His Excellency Glen John Provost, Vicar General Father Ruben Buller and the Cathedral Rector Father Rommel Tolentino. I am excited to serve here and to start a new Institute Oratory in Sulphur with God’s help, Our Lady of Prompt Succor’s intercession and the prayers of all of you. May God reward you, Canon Jean Marie Moreau

Sunday, 5:00 PM - High Mass Monday, 5:30 PM - Low Mass (He will offer a private Mass on Monday morning) Tuesday to Friday, 7:00 AM - Low Mass (First Friday to be announced due to possible conflict with parish schedule) Saturday, 8:30 AM - Low Mass

Solemn Mass & Plenary Indulgence Feast of St. Francis de Sales 29 January 2020, 6:00 PM The Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest has certain privileges attached to the feast of its patron saints. Saint Francis de Sales is one of the Institute's patron saints, along with St. Benedict and St. Thomas Aquinas. Saint Francis de Sales is also the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Parish's secondary patron saint; the first mission church (built in 1854), which in 1869 was officially established as a parish, was dedicated in honor of St. Francis de Sales. To gain the plenary indulgence you must be a Catho-lic in the state of grace. You must perform with a contrite heart the act to which the indulgence is at-tached, i.e. attend the Solemn Mass on January 29. You must go to Confession (within 8 days before or after), receive Holy Communion at the Mass (in the state of grace), and pray for the Holy Father's inten-tions (An Our Father and a Hail Mary would suf-fice). The final condition is that you must be free from all attachment to sin, including venial sin. If you at-tempt to receive a plenary indulgence, but are unable to meet the last condition, a partial indulgence is re-ceived instead.

BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUP If you or someone you know has experienced the death of a loved one (a spouse, friend, sibling, parent, child) you may want to consider participating in this sixweeks Bereavement Program. You do not have to be a Catholic, there is no time

limit as to when the person(s) died and there is no cost...all are welcome.

There is no easy way around the pain of losing a loved one. Grief has no rules and no timetables. Understanding the griev-ing process can soothe the doubts that linger. Learn about the

“surprises” of grief and the emotions that affect you physically, mentally and spiritually. In this sixweek series you will learn

about normal grief and hopefully gain a renewed sense of hope. Come and learn, share feelings and ask questions to gather hints

about picking up the pieces after loss. When: Mondays 19th, 26th,

September 2nd, 9th, 16th Where: Immaculate Conception Cathedral in

Ave Maria Hall Time: 5:30 PM

Please call the church and let the receptionist know if you are planning to attend.
