Hospital Visits After HIPAA (Health Information Privacy Act) began to

take effect in 2003, churches were no longer given access to

names of hospital patients who were members of their churches.

Since that date Eucharistic ministers are only allowed to bring

Communion to hospital patients who request it. Therefore,

because we are not aware of who is admitted to the hospital, we

miss a lot of opportunities to bring Communion or to visit

parishioners while they are at Bartlett. We welcome information

about any parishioner who are hospitalized, so we may both offer

our prayers for their healing and visit them.

If you have any information, please contact the parish office

Back to Basics Catholic Adult Bible Study

Our next Bible study will be the letters of St. Paul to

the Romans and to the Galatians. There will be an introductory

meeting on Thursday, January 21, 2016, followed by 12 weekly

lessons. With a two-week break for Easter, this study will end

April 28. We use the Diocese of Little Rock Scripture Study

program, which is totally Catholic. Participants may purchase

the commentary book and study guide from us, and we will

provide the accompanying DVD lectures. If you would like to

join us, please call us as soon as possible, so we can order the

materials. For additional information, call Susanne and Terry

Elder at (907) 789-9611.

Collection for the Church in Latin America This weekend, we will be taking up the Collection for

the Church in Latin America. In Peru, the 14 villages of Chazuta,

in Moyobamba, are all located away from the city center, with

the most remote only accessible by boat. The faithful in these

communities do not have access to catechetical formation, and

members often feel separated from the life of the universal

Church. Through a grant from the Collection for the Church in

Latin America, we were able to provide faith formation, spiritual

retreats, and workshops to nearly 250 people. Participants were

better equipped to help others deepen their faith and answer

questions. The program also renewed their sense of commitment

to their parishes and created stronger bonds within their families.

Through this program, members of the Chazuta villages felt the

love and support of the universal Church. Please support

programs like these and give generously in this week’s

collection.

St. Paul Street Evangelization—

Juneau, Alaska

Welcome to your local chapter of St. Paul Street

Evangelization.

St Paul Street Evangelization is a

grassroots, non-profit organization, dedicated to

responding to the mandate of Jesus to preach the

Gospel to all nations by taking our Catholic Faith

to the streets, We do this in a non-confrontational

way, allowing the Holy Spirit to move in the

hearts of those who witness our public Catholic

presence.

Christ’s call to evangelize was made to

every Catholic Christian, and the Second Vatican

Council reiterated this need, urging each of the

baptized to bring the Gospel, found fully in the

Catholic Church, to a culture that has largely

reverted to paganism. As an on-the-street Catholic

evangelization organization, St. Paul Street

Evangelization provides an avenue for you to

share the Person of Jesus Christ and the truth and

beauty of the Catholic Faith with a hungry culture.

We will have classes on January 17th,

24th & 31st.

the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (pre-school

through 6th grade) or the 7th & 8th grade youth

group at anytime throughout the year.

Embrace the Spirituality of Childhood

Attention parents, grandparents, godparents, and those of you who care for children: Katy will be starting a new adult

formation course on the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd on Tuesday, January 26th. This weekly course will meet in the Parish Hall

from 6:45pm to 8:15pm. Themes covered will include the spirituality of childhood, listening to God with children, and the

essentials of the Catholic faith. While this course offers formation for catechists of the three to six year-old child it is also a

wonderful way for adults to grow in their own faith lives as they discover and encounter the unique relationship between God and

the child.

Registration

To register, contact Katy in the office of religious education.

Life Teen Announcement

by Heather Shaw

The youth of our parish

communities have so many gifts and so

much light to bring to the Church. My

role in this ministry is to empower our youth to answer their call to grow in

their personal relationships with Jesus Christ and to use their gifts to spread the

light of Christ. However, Youth Ministry is impossible without the

involvement of all generations and all members of the Church. I am looking to

expand my core team of volunteers to better reach all students! Please consider

one, or all, of these areas to help bring our Teens closer to God:

Gather with me and other Core Members to pray for our Teens,

intentionally and specifically, every other week, as well as brainstorm different

Life Night Event ideas. Join us on Sundays for our Life Nights at 6:30 to help

lead small group discussions, play games, and build fellowship.

Sign up to provide a meal for the students on Sunday night! I am in need of

support in this area.

High School students! Join me and other students from JDHS, TMHS

and YDHS for Life Teen at 6:45pm every Sunday, upstairs in the St. Paul’s

Parish Hall! Food, games, fellowship and Jesus!

1/24: Back to Basics!

1/31: Stashes and Lashes: Authentic Men and Women of Christ pt. 1

2/7: Stashes and Lashes: Authentic Men and Women of Christ pt. 2

If you are looking for ways to get involved with Youth Ministry, love

your faith and just want to share it with others, or God has placed it on your

heart to serve our teens in one or more of the ways I’ve mentioned, please

email me or call me! You do not have to have a teen in the program to help out!

I would love to involve as many people as possible, as I think it is important

that our Teens see many different people, not just myself, living out their faith

lives. Thank you and please continue to pray for me, youth ministry and

especially our teens!

Text me for more information on future College student and Young Adult

events, or even if you just want to grab coffee!

Family Promise

Interfaith Hospitality is closer

to being a reality in Juneau.

Family Promise is a

community response to families experiencing homelessness by

providing hospitality in area churches. Guests receive hospitality

and three meals a day from church members and volunteers.

Family Promise case managers work with guest parents to

ensure they can regain their self-sufficiency.

The interfaith hospitality network program began in

Union County, New Jersey, in 1986, in response to the growing

number of homeless families seeking shelter and support

services. Successful non-profit programs for families

experiencing homelessness have been implemented by a number

of communities based on this model for the past thirty years

throughout the nation including Wasilla.

Our regional representative from Family Promise,

Jeanna Beck, will join us on Thursday, February 18 from

5:00-6:30 at St. Paul’s Parish Hall on the corner of Egan and

Mendenhall Loop Road (9055 Atlin Drive) for a meet and greet.

This is a great chance for community members and

congregational leaders to learn more about the program and ask

questions about how this has worked in other communities.

For more information call Pastor Tari at 789-4093.
