PEOPLE OF THE COVENANT. If there is one word that stands out in today’s readings, it is “covenant.” God’s faithfulness and goodness serve as examples to us of how to live. Genesis tells the story of Noah and of God’s covenant not only with all people, but with all of nature. Never will the cleansing waters of the flood bring their destructive power to all the earth again. The sign, the reminder to both God and nature, is the rainbow in

the heavens. The psalm reminds us of this compassion of God, and begs God to remember us, not because of our goodness, but because of God’s goodness and fidelity to the promise. God shows us how to be good, not by decree, but by example.

Next Meeting of the Parish Pastoral Council will be Tuesday, February 20th at 6:00 pm in St. Ignatius Hall.

Our Lady of Grace Rosary Group The Rosary will be prayed in homes and hosted by parishioners on TUESDAY EVENINGS, instead of Wednesdays. Mrs. Laura Renda is the OLOG Rosary Group Coordinator. Please let her know if you would be willing to host Our Lady of Grace Rosary once a month, 704-840-

9860. Come and partake in the beauty and benefits of the Rosary! This weekly devotion is worth the trip! There is fellowship before and after if you like.

"Is anyone among you sick? They should summon the presbyters of the church, to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will save the sick person and the Lord will raise them up. If they have committed any

sins, they will be forgiven." (James 5:14)

In the sacrament we pray that the sick be healed in body, in mind and in spirit. The mission of the Church is to do what Jesus did. Healing was essential to the mission of the disciples.

If you are experiencing the effects of illness, advanced age, preparing for surgery and seek the healing power of the sacrament you are encouraged to ask Father Dennis to celebrate the Anointing of the Sick with you. You or a family member can contact the parish office at 803.345.3962 or call Father’s cell phone at 843.834.5447.

The Adoration Chapel is available for adoration of the Blessed Sacrament 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with the use of a code to enter the chapel. The code is available through the parish office.

Lighthouse Catholic Ministry Unpack the Passion Mystery

With these two CDs, you can unpack the Passion Mystery like never before. Dr Scott Hahn, celebrated theologian and professor at the Franciscan University of Steubenville, might as well be inviting us into one of his graduate theology classes. Let’s put thinking caps on and be ready for a challenging ride. Start with “Seven Last Sayings of Christ” in which Dr Hahn unlocks for us the deeper significance of Our Lord's last words, carefully chosen so that we might better understand the

immense love of God for every person and His plan of salvation. Christ’s words, “It is finished,” what does “it” refer to? Dr Hahn touches on this question in this first CD, but digs into it in great depth in “The Fourth Cup.” Here, Dr Hahn traces “it” back to the Last Supper, the Jewish Passover, and even farther back, to the time

when God pledged his covenant with Israel.

Please Keep in Your Prayers

The Rite of Sending took place last Saturday, February 10th, during the Vigil Mass. The Lenten Season of repentance has begun. Our Candidates’ journey of conversion serves as a reminder to all of us that God’s work of redemption and salvation continues in our midst. Our Parish Community now sends them forth to reflect on the

word of God. We look forward to the day when they will remain here with us to share fully at the Lord’s table. This Saturday, February 17th, will find our Candidates at St. Peter Catholic Church for The Rite of Election with our Bishop, The Most Rev. Robert E. Guglielmone. Please keep them in your prayers as they continue their journey:
