Diocesan leaders said 364 princi- pals, teachers, catechists and youth ministers from around the state at- tended the event, with 111 sending comments through an online forum. Approximately 96 percent of respon- dents said the event met or exceeded their expectations. The annual fall gathering shifted this year to a targeted training day for teachers and catechists. It included more than seven dozen workshops, two keynotes, lunchtime collaboration for teachers, eucharistic adoration, op- portunities to receive the sacrament of reconciliation, daily Mass with Bishop Peter F. Christensen, a pilgrimage to the diocesan holy doors at St. John Cathedral and social gatherings. Father Richard Fragomeni, a priest from the diocese of Albany, NY, and religious studies instructor from De- Paul University in Chicago, offered the opening keynote Oct. 6, and earned high grades. “The keynote speaker was fabulous. I could have listened to Father for hours,” wrote one participant. “Father Fragomeni’s keynote was fantastic,” wrote another. Among the workshops favored by catechists, those which were required for ongoing certification were the best attended. Ones that stood out in the comments on the evaluations were Father Caleb Vogel’s talk on “Morality and Ethics” and Father Gerald J. Fun- ke’s session on “Trinity.” Teachers reported favorably on the wide variety of workshop topics, and offered numerous other suggestions for the 2017 CEC. Youth ministers were pleased with their own specialized track, and Catholic home schoolers wrote about their appreciation to be invited and welcomed by other participants. Videos of some of the presentations are available on the Religious Educa- tion and Catechetical Leadership web page, found at the diocesan website www.catholicidaho.org. ICR PHOTOS ICR PHOTOS

Inaugural conference

a successBOISE — The inaugural Catholic

Educators’ Conference, held Oct. 6-8 at Bishop Kelly High School, was a huge success, according to the evaluations submitted online by attendees.

Diocesan leaders said 364 princi-pals, teachers, catechists and youth ministers from around the state at-tended the event, with 111 sending comments through an online forum. Approximately 96 percent of respon-dents said the event met or exceeded their expectations.

The annual fall gathering shifted this year to a targeted training day for teachers and catechists. It included more than seven dozen workshops, two keynotes, lunchtime collaboration for teachers, eucharistic adoration, op-portunities to receive the sacrament of reconciliation, daily Mass with Bishop Peter F. Christensen, a pilgrimage to the diocesan holy doors at St. John Cathedral and social gatherings.

Father Richard Fragomeni, a priest from the diocese of Albany, NY, and religious studies instructor from De-Paul University in Chicago, offered the opening keynote Oct.

Fun-ke’s session on “Trinity.”

Teachers reported favorably on the wide variety of workshop topics, and offered numerous other suggestions for the 2017 CEC.

Youth ministers were pleased with their own specialized track, and Catholic home schoolers wrote about their appreciation to be invited and welcomed by other participants.

Videos of some of the presentations are available on the Religious Educa-tion and Catechetical Leadership web page, found at the diocesan website www.catholicidaho.org.
