The Young

Church…

Preschool students at Holy

Cross Academy—

Our Lady of

Providence worked with

their fourth-grade “buddies” to

create prayer chaplets, or

“small rosaries.”

Since then, throughout the

month of October, a month

dedicated to this devotion to

Our Blessed Mother, the

students have been enjoying

the beautiful fall weather and

each other’s company as they

visit the Our Lady of Providence Rosary Garden to pray the rosary together.

The St.

Patrick

Catholic

School

Student Council

sponsored a

“Be Sweet: No

Tricks—Only

Treats”

collection to

gather items in

support of

“Operation

Sunscreen.”

Fifteen boxes of

granola bars and

peanut butter and cheese crackers will fill boxes to be shipped to our deployed

National Guard soldier s and airmen.

Valle Catholic School students participated in the “Great Central U.S.

Shake Out” at 10:20 am on October 20, 2016.

At the signal, students practiced the "Drop, Cover, and Hold On" drill along with

over 54.8 million people around the globe!

Great Shake Out Earthquake Drills are an annual opportunity for people in

homes, schools and organizations to practice what to do during earthquakes, and to

improve preparedness.

Q. Why is it impor tant?

A. To react quickly, one must practice often.

Jesus advises us, too, to be prepared, as we know not the hour or the day...

The Saint Joan of Arc

Catholic School kindergarten

room was transformed into an

archeological dig site during

October.

Students have been learning about

dinosaurs as a springboard for deep

learning across the curriculum.

Saint Joan of Arc students learn

about their own muscles by dissect-

ing a chicken wing.

Trained Student Ambassadors can

sell your school to prospective

families. Make sure they are trained

well in giving tours and sharing

your school’s narrative!

St. Joseph Academy senior

Katie Kersting has received the

“Excellence in Research Award”

for her advanced research in the

highly selective UMSL STARS

program.

The award is the result of her hard

work this past summer, and places

her among the top research students

in the area.

Katie worked with Dr. Roberta

Pineda from Washington

University on the effect of steroids

on pre-term infants.

St. Theodore

Parish School

of Religion in

Flint Hill students in

first through seventh

grade celebrated an

all-saints prayer

service on October 26.

Flint Hill is a

beautiful town just a

few miles northeast of

Wentzville that is

experiencing a lot of growth, especially in the area of “little saints!” Above, St.

Theodore's "little saints pose for a picture beneath the altar of this historic

church built in 1883.

At Holy Spirit Parish School of Religion in Maryland

Heights meets every Tuesday.

Last week, students were

engaged in a variety of

activities.

Second graders, who are pre-

paring to received the

Sacrament of Reconciliation

for the first time received a

tour of the confessional from

Pastor, Fr. Bob Evans.

Fourth grade PSR students

enjoyed sharing their lesson

about the Mass with their

parents at Family, Faith and

Fun Night. In preparation for the All Saints Mass, students, parents and

pastor, (pictured at left above) enjoyed a game of “Saints Bingo.”

Children at St. Mary’s Preschool—North love all creatures, great

and small, including wiggly worms!

Children are often outdoors on the

playground, weather permitting,

because children of all ages must

explore the natural world around

them.

The staff encourages students to

embrace their natural curiosity and

imagination.

At right, St. Mary’s students are

fascinated by a creepy crawling

worm. Mrs. Muffie turned this

opportunity into a teachable

moment with Amela, Brody and

Taylan to discuss living creatures,

and the need to be gentle and

careful with them, as they are with

each other.

Two students at Valle Catholic School in Ste. Genevieve received the

Do The Right Thing Award.

Second grader Colton Kutz and senior Jessica Bahr were

honored at a ceremony at the Shrine of Our Lady of

Snows in Belleville.

Colton (at left with certifi-

cate) alerted a teacher

that his friend was hurt on

the playground, and stayed

with her until help arrived.

Jessica (at right with

certificate) took it upon

herself to organize a huge Krispy Kreme fundraiser

for two families in the Ste. Genevieve community who are suffering with serious

illnesses. She raised $3,000 for the Mills and

Woodward families.
