Dear Sacred Heart Family,

Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! Psalm 105:1

Recently, it was brought to my attention that all of our par-ents might not know how much financial support the par-ish provides our school. Yes, tuition is a good chunk of our purchasing budget, but we wouldn’t exist without the parish supplementing $2600 per student. This supplement provides a budget for supplies in art, PE, science, music, learning re-source center, library, furniture and textbooks. Plus, we are able to purchase adequate office supplies, technology equip-ment (above and beyond our tech fee income), pay utilities, and maintain the upkeep of our building. There are two areas where Sacred Heart is especially generous: professional de-velopment for teachers and tuition aid for families in need. When I talk to other principals and hear struggles they have with needed resources and tuition assistance, I know we are very blessed.

Our staff is always in awe of parish support. We are prudent with our purchasing, but so grateful that there isn’t stress in not having the funds to buy needed educational materials.

The students and staff at SHOJ are blessed! I am honored to the be the principal of this great school.

November is the Month for ThanksgivingWe Give Thanks for Our Resources

The 4th through 8th grade classes are now working with Science Fusion kits and work-books to get a more hands-on experience with science.

Our resource team helps in and out of the classroom setting.

The Kindergarten, 1st, and 5th grades are trying out a new math program called Envision.

The Kindergarten and 1st grade classes are using a new read-ing and writing program called

Superkids.

The computer lab has many different uses: Xtra Math, Spanish, research, and much

more.

We are working on our professional devel-opment by bringing in speakers. Here is author Tammi Sauer discussing her books.

Miss Vogt’s Music NoteHello Parents of Kindergarteners through 5th graders!

That time of year has once again come upon us…and no I’m not talking about Halloween. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the music classroom at Sacred Heart! While it may feel way too early to hear your students singing Christmas songs, it is getting me incredibly excited for December 5.

This year’s Christmas Program will take place Monday, December 5th in the MPC. Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade’s performance will begin at 6pm, and the 3rd, 4th and 5th grade’s performance will begin at 7pm. It is going to be a won-derful evening of hearing some of your favorite Christmas songs with a little twist from last year. This year, each grade will have their own Christmas theme. Instead of nice Christmas clothes, the students are asked to come to the performance in costumes that match their theme. Below you can find each grade’s theme as well as some ideas on how you can get this costume put together. Costumes may be as simple or as creative as you would like! The idea is that the students do not look identical. All I ask is that we remember the main event of the evening is to enjoy the performance that your students have been working so hard on since the beginning of this month. I am so blessed to get to work with each of your students, and the progress everyone has been making in the past few weeks just blows me away. The evening of December 5th is promising to be a very exciting one, be sure to mark your calendars!

If you have any questions about the program or costumes please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected].

Kindergarten: Santa ClausSome ideas: Boys can wear a red shirt and some nice pants and shoes and a Santa hat. Girls can wear a nice red outfit with a Santa hat (dress, nice blouse and pants etc.), or you can go all out and create your own Santa costume! Beards are optional http://www.polkadotchair.com/2012/11/make-a-faux-santa-shirt-tutorial.html/ http://www.bluepencilpro.com/airbrushing/gallery%20page/costumes/xmas-costume/elf_costume-coat.html

1st grade: Christmas TreesSome ideas: Green on top and brown/tan on bottom (girls may opt for a green dress). The fun comes from “decorating the tree”. You can attach tinsel or beads or plastic ornaments to this costume to give it a unique twist. http://www.realsimple.com/holidays-entertaining/holidays/halloween/cool-halloween-costumes/christmas-tree-cos-tume?crlt.pid=camp.KLKilB6vnOXB

2nd grade: ReindeerSome ideas: Brown dresses or brown shirts and khaki pants…really any variation of a brown outfit will do! If you’re really feeling crafty you can make your own ant-lers. Miss Vogt will supply the red noses.http://www.redtedart.com/easy-diy-christmas-jumper-kids/ http://www.pinkstripeysocks.com/2013/12/diy-reindeer-ant-ler-headbands.html

3rd grade: AngelsSome ideas: Nice white outfits would be perfect. Wings and halo optional http://www.used.ca/4-useful-steps-to-make-an-angel-halo/http://www.creativeconnectionsforkids.com/2013/09/diy-no-sew-wings/

4th grade: ShepherdsSome ideas: Robes and head wear of any color would be wonderful! If they want to bring a pair of sandals to wear to the performance that would be fine, but any shoe will work.http://ashbyfamilyblog.blogspot.com/2010/12/nativity-head-wearpillowcasesgift-tag.html#axzz1uJQa1gXlhttp://www.vanillajoy.com/10-minute-nativity-shepherd-cos-tume.html

5th grade: Snowmen Some ideas: White on top, black on bottom, or a white dress. You can spice it up with some boots and a hat, scarf and gloves. Corncob pipes, button noses and coal are optional http://oneperfectdayblog.net/2015/12/19/no-sew-snowman-costume-for-kids/
