MARCH 31, 2019: FOURTH SUNDAY OF LENT
Halftime Report !!
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
May the grace and love of Jesus Christ be with you!
This fourth week of Lent is Laetare Sunday. One can compare it to the Halftime Report. However, instead of us trying to take a break and going to the refrigerator to reach for our
favorite food or drinks, Laetare Sunday gives us a joyous occasion of a check point to reflect how our Lenten season is going. The day of our Salvation, Easter Sunday, is drawing nearer. Now, is the time for us to adjust or “to get it going” if we have not started.
If you are a sports fan and your team is losing at halftime, you hope that your team can adjust or find a new game plan. That way your team can get ahead and win the game. Likewise, if you have not reflected much on Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving for the first
three weeks of Lent, Our Lord is still awaiting for you to strive to do it. If you have not made your Sacrament of Confession or gone to the Holy Hour, now is an acceptable time to go. People who are training for the Boston Marathon say the first few miles are always easy. But, in the middle of the run, when people are 3/4 into it, this is
the time when the runners get bored, tired and want to give up. However, if the runners keep pushing themselves and continue to equip with enough water and motivation, they will be able to persevere.
May the grace and love of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who died for each one of us on the Cross on Good Friday, continue to give us the motivation and strength to transform ourselves to grow in holiness this Lenten Season.
Many Prayers and Blessings! In Christ, Fr Huy

It is CORI time for our Collaborative. If you are involved in ministry in either parish and have the potential to be in contact with children or the elderly, you must complete a CORI yearly. Thank you for your cooperation in helping to keep our children safe. If you did not receive a CORI form in the mail, they are available at the main entrance to our Churches. For your convenience, a staff member will be available at both parishes after the morning Masses on Sunday, April 7.

Forming in Faith...
Collaborative Religious Education
Religious Education Grades 1-8 All classes meet at their regular days and times.
Grade 2 First Communion Students continue to prepare for the reception of First Eucharist. We
prayerfully ask that parents take their children to Mass each week in preparation for the reception of the Sacrament. What an exciting time for the parish and families, as we continue to work together preparing the children to receive Jesus in the Eucharist for the very first time.
If your child is in need of a First Communion dress, suit, shoes or accessories, please call Mrs. Gleason to schedule a convenient time to come in and see the many gently used items we have to lend out.
Adult Formation Series
A Biblical Walk Through the Mass
Edward Sri
Do you know someone who has been away from Mass? Perhaps this series will awaken in them a renewed faith and joy for the sacred Liturgy. In the words of Saint Thomas Aquinas “The effect of this Sacrament is the conversion of a man into Christ, so that he may no longer live, but Christ lives in him.”
We invite you to walk through the Mass with Bishop Barron and Dr. Edward Sri.
Immaculate Conception Msgr. Hackett Center Tuesdays at 7pm: April 2, 9,16, 23 and 30
Saint Jerome Parish Fridays at 9:45am: April 5, 12, 26, May 3, and 10

CRS Rice Bowls
Encounter Kumba
We encounter Kumba from Sierra Leone, who, through her education, is
providing hope for her family and community. How has education given you opportunities in life? How do you
use your education for the common good? Visit crsricebowl.org for more information.
New Baby? Congratulations !
Please call the parish office to make arrangements for your child’s Baptism. At Immaculate Conception parish, baptisms are held on the first Sunday of each
month and at Saint Jerome Parish they are held on the third Sunday of each month. Parents are asked to attend a baptismal catechesis prior to the baptism and
to please keep in mind when choosing Godparents, that they need to be Confirmed, practicing Catholics. In certain circumstances, if you have only one
Godparent who is a Confirmed and practicing Catholic, your child’s Baptism is also valid.

your support of the 2019 Catholic Appeal. More info at bostoncatholicappeal.org.
