2.3 Notes on replacing firmware

The following points must be noted when replacing the firmware andperformed in the order as indicated:

• Check the CLC hardware version in parameter "CLC -Hardware Version" (C-0-0024)The CLC firmware must support this CLC hardware (see section"Referenced hardware").

• Secure the current parameter set of the machine inSAVE.ASCPrior to replacing the CLC firmware, all A and C parameters must bestored with the CLC terminal function "store parameters" or with "File","Store" in SynTop. This file must be named SAVE.ASC.

• Switch machine off, set jumper S2 and replace thefirmware of the CLCBy setting jumper S2, SynTop is forced to terminal X27 when poweringup.

Note the older position of the jumper.

2-2 Firmware Version CLC*DP-SY*-05VRS SYNAX

DOK-SYNAX*-SY*-05VRS**-FVN1-EN-P

• Switch machine onCLC-D: After powering up, the CLC-D will boot up into parametrizationmode and then will display, due to invalid parameter, diagnosis 14"CLC parameter checksum error (see C-0-0068)". The drive withaddress 1 now displays P2. All others display the warning E4/10 "Drivenot scanned or address 0".

CLC-P: The CLC-P boots up to initialization mode only after powering.

• Connect PC to interface X27 and start SynTopSkip the possible error message from SynTop with ’ignore’.

• Switch machine into initialization modeVia SynTop, the CLC is switched into initialization mode (menu’extras’, ’phase changeover’, ’phase 0’, ’close’)

• Preset the parameters of the CLC with default valuesThe A and C parameters of the CLC are preset for all possible driveswith their default values:

Call up menu item ’File’, ’Load base parameters → CLC’ in SynTop.Load base parameters and then leave the menu with ’Close’

• Load SAVE.ASC back into CLCThe A and parameters are loaded back into the CLC via menu ’file’,’load’. Note here that ’all drives’ and ’A parameters’ or ’C parameters’are selected here.

• Re-translate I/O logic and loadThe I/O logic is re-translated via menu ’File’, ’I/O logic ...’ and thenloaded back into the CLC.

• Swith machine off, set jumperThe jumpers S1 and S2 are set as before.

Exception: If terminal function was on terminal X27 before, without aset jumper, then jumper S1 must now be set.

• Switching machine onThe CLC parameters are now valid for all drives. SYNAX boots up into"SYNAX - power up target mode" (C-0-0101).

The machine is now operable with the new firmware.

• Final activitiesSecure the new A and C parameters on the CLC.

• Checking the functionsAfter replacing the firmware, carefully check the functions of the newlyequipped machine.

2.4 New function

Special Operating Mode "Relative Set-Up"In operating mode ’relative set-up’ an axis can be moved over a specifieddistance. The new operating mode is configured and activated as a"Special operation mode" (parameter A-0-0070, binary input _E:F#.23).The travel path is written into parameter "Setup mode relative - traveldistance" (A-0-0135) and made valid via the binary input "Relative positioncommand lock" (_E:F#.27).

Additive Group Command ValueIn modes ’Phase synchronization’ and ’Electronic cam’ the phase offsetbetween slave and master axis can be adjusted. The effective phaseoffset is calculated using "Position command offset" (A-0-0004) and thenewly introduced "Group parameter additive - command value" (A-0-0132) and is then transmitted to the drive as "Additive position commandvalue" (S-0-0048).

"Additive group parameter command value" can be distributed to up to 8drives via list "Group parameter additive - drive addresses" (A-0-0133).The individual "Group parameter additive - weighting" (A-0-0134) can beset, however.

CLC Emergency ReactionIn the event of a fatal error (fiber optic cable break, critical operatingsystem error from no. 4000), the CLC switches into initialization mode(P0).

It is possible to access both A and C parameters in this state. The PLCcan, for example, read diagnostics parameter C-0-0046.

Note: A renewed run up executes an internal reset on the CLC. As aresult, communications to the PLC could breakdown for ashort period.

Output of High Speed CamsHigh speed cams can now be output on the I/O cards DEA08 and DEA28as well as the DPRAM of a CLC P.

Parameter Channel in Profibus-DPIn Profibus applications exclusively using the Profibus DP protocol thefieldbus cannot execute bus parametrization (this applies to numerousPLC systems).

The Indramat-specific protocol expansion for the parameter channel inProfibus-DP generates the basic FMS services for the data exchangewithin the Profibus-DP protocol thus making bus parametrization possiblefor the fieldbus master.

Note: Special protocol expansions executed by the PNO for theProfibus DP protocol, necessitate special masters that are, however, presently only available for the Siemens’ PLCs. (DP-expansion E1 /V1).New Parameters, Outputs and Diagnostics

2.5 Changed and Expanded Functions

Configuring the Operating ModesAuxiliary operating modes will no longer be configured in parameter"Synchronization mode" (A-0-0003). If a synchronization mode is nolonger needed (e.g., positioning axes) then entry 0x0000 0000 ("nosynchronization mode") is permissible.

For auxiliary modes set-up and idle, parameter "Configuration idle mode /setup mode" (A-0-0009) has been introduced.

Special modes such as "Relative set-up" are set in parameter A-0-0070.

Master Axis

Jerk limitJerk limit is now optionally active even with an emergency stop of thevirtual master axis. The limit is activated in "ELS master - control word"(C-0-0004, bit 8).

If C-0-0077 = 0 then the jerk limit is generally switched off (until now themaster axis did not runup with this setting.)

Register Controller

Sensor DistanceThe distance between the sensor for detecting printing marks and themeasuring axis can now be larger than one format length. The distance isset in parameter "Register control - probe distance" (A-0-0121). Thecorrection is delayed by as many product cycles as there are formatsbetween the regulated axis and the sensor.

Sensor Deadtime CompensationThe delay times between the detection of the printing mark and the edgeof the measuring signal at sensor output result in a measuring error withposition detection at the measuring axis. The measring error results in aspeed-dependent register error. If the deadtime of the mark reader isentered into parameter "Register control - probe deadtime compensation"(A-0-0128), then the measuring error will be taken into account whengenerating the correction angle.

Masking Register MarksIf control is to take place only every nth mark on a web, then invalid markscan be masked off. It is set in parameter "Register control - mark gating"(A-0-0129) which marks are to be evaluated for the control.

Actual Value DisplayThe difference between position command and actual values can be readout of "Register control - register deviation" in degrees from parameterA-0-0120.

Indirect ControlThe output of an indirect register controller can be limited via parametersA-0-0121 and A-0-0122.

The output of an indirect controller can be frozen via binary input "Processcontroller pause".

Jogging the Position Command ValueThe position command value for the register controller can now bechanged with the CLC jog function.

By setting bit 21 in "Process control - control word" (A-0-0025) the joginputs are directed to the position command value (A-0-0084).

The position command value can be jogged if the drive enable is insynchronization mode and the register controller enabled. In all otheroperating modes, the affects of the jog inputs on the process variablesallocated to the activated modes remain as given.

Parameter "Register control - position command increments" (A-0-0125)has been newly introduced for the jog function.

Setting the Position Command Value via Binary InputsThe position command values for the register control can be set with thehelp of the binary inputs "Process controller - command lock" (_E:F#.27).If the printing mark is under the mark reader, however, then by settingthis input, the current actual position value at the measuring axis is writteninto the position command value.

New Control VariablesThe choice of manipulated variables (A-0-0107) was expanded with thefollowing:

Control variables Effective in mode Controller

"Additive speed commandvalue" (S-0-0037)

speed synchronization indirect

"Fine adjustment - gearratio" (P-0-0083)

speed synchronization direct

"Cam shaft distance"(P-0-0093)

electronic cam direct, indirect

"Master axis gear outputrevolution" (P-0-0156)

speed synchronization,phase synchronization,electronic cam

direct, indirect

Fig. 2-6: New manipulated variables for register control

• Cam stroke:

The cam stroke is set via the new parameter "Cam shaft distance"(A-0-0124). Given an activated register controller, this preset value isaccounted for with the controller output.

• Master axis gear:

With drive firmware 05VRS a new master axis gear was introduced. The new gear function supports speed matching of synchronous axesand works in the three operating modes speed synchronization, phasesynchronization and electronic cam.

Parameter "Master axis gear output revolutions" (P-0-0156) can beselected as a manipulated variable for the register controller.Parameter "Master axis gear output revolutions" (A-0-0126) wasintroduced on the CLC for presetting.

Setting the Correction WindowIt is no longer necessary to note the rotational direction when setting thecorrection window for direct control. The angles for start and endcorrection (A-0-0085, A-0-0086) are always entered in a mathematicallypositive direction.

Connecting the Sensor

Note: As of drive firmware 05VRS the mark reader must beconnected to probe 1. Probe 2 is no longer available to theregister controller.

Tension Control

Controlling Several Tension AxesOne tension controller can control up to four axes. The addresses of thetension controlled axes are entered in parameter "Process control - driveaddresses" (A-0-0087).

Adaptive ControlTwo parameters have been introduced for the speed-dependent adaptionof the P-gain.

"Process controller 1 - Adapt P-gain operating point 1" (A-0-0130),

"Process controller 1 - Adapt P-gain operating point 2" (A-0-0131).

Setting the Command ValueThe command value for the tension controller can be set with binary input"Process controller - command lock" (_E:F#.27). The current actualtension control value (analog signal) is assumed as a tension commandvalue.

Jog Function"Jogging time constant" (C-0-0029) can be set to ’0’. A signal to a joginput thus effects, without delay, the selected process variable.

I/O LogicThe high speed cam of the master axis and the drive cam (dynamic camswitch group) can be processed in the I/O logic.

As of drive firmware version 05VRS plug-in module "input/outputinterface" DEA08 is supported.

Analog InputsAs of drive firmware 05VRS, the DRF plug-in module will be replaced by"Analog interface with incremantal encoder emulation" DAE02.1. The newconfiguration will automatically be detected by the CLC. Parameterrecords of running analogs with DRF modules can be assumed withoutchange.

Serial CommunicationsParameter "Communications interface - time out" (C-0-0124) wasintroduced to monitor communications via the serial interface. If the CLCinternal processing of a request takes longer than timeout permits, then aBUSY signal is generated.

ARCNET Interface

New Data BlocksThe concept of the data blocks for the ARCNET interface has beenexpanded:

• For the transmission of parameters, the configurable data blocks 109through 116 are now also available.

• Using the pre-defined data block 98, data transmission (with followingtelegram) can be terminated.

LSA Control S.L. www.lsa-control.com [email protected] (+34) 960 62 43 01

Page 19: Catálogos Levante Sistemas de Automatización y …...By setting jumper S2, SynTop is forced to terminal X27 when powering up. Note the older position of the jumper. EPROM IC14: EPROM

2-10 Firmware Version CLC*DP-SY*-05VRS SYNAX

DOK-SYNAX*-SY*-05VRS**-FVN1-EN-P

Long Data PackageThe ARCNET interface of the CLC now also supports long data packagesof up to 508 data bytes to accomodate a command telegram.

Note: The CLC will continue to send all reaction telegrams in shortdata packages.

Data Request Processing TimeBy optimizing the output of a reaction telegram it is possible to shorten theprocessing time of a data request by up to 50 ms.

Fieldbus Interface (Interbus, Profibus)

Parameter Access via the Process Data ChannelThe cyclical parameter transmission in (real-time channel of the) processdata channel has been expanded to all SYNAX parameters. Supportedare:

• write-access to all SYNAX parameters (A, C, S and P parameters) inthe process data channel

• read-access to all drive parameters (S, P parameters) not configuredin the drive telegram (AT)

Note: The parameters cyclically transmitted via the fieldbus are nothandled internally by SYNAX over real-time channels. Thetransmission scenario is explained in the SYNAX FunctionalDescription.

Communications ChannelAcyclical communications via data exchange objects 5F70 - 5F73 wereadapted to the changed SIS protocol specification:

• The introduction of the new SYNAX specific SIS service 0x91 and0x9F means it is possible to transmit a single element of a listparameter.

• The bytes of the old SIS protocol have been adapted to the new SISprotocol head and some bits in some of these bytes have beenchanged.

Note: This change is not compatible with version SY*-04VRS!

Bus Parametrization via the CLCThe parametrization of a fieldbus can (e.g., in the case of a fieldbusmaster that does not support the communications channel) now use theCLC. The configuration method is hereby set in parameter C-0-0129. Forbus parametrization, parameters C-0-0125 through C-0-0128 and C-0-0131 and C-0-0132 are available.

SYNAX Firmware Version CLC*DP-SY*-05VRS 2-11

DOK-SYNAX*-SY*-05VRS**-FVN1-EN-P

Note: Bus parametrization via the bus master means that thefieldbus parameters (except for C-0-0129) are generally write-protected and only support diagnoses.

Automatic Reconfiguration of the FieldbusAfter changing parameters that effect the fieldbus interface, there is anautomatic triggering of a reconfiguration interrupt on the fieldbus card. This applies to:

• subsequential applications of a fieldbus interface in parameterC-0-0033

• reconfiguration of a fieldbus via fieldbus parameters of the CLC

The fieldbus slave then starts the initialization of the fieldbus interface onthe CLC and can, if necessary, assume the (new) bus parametrization ofthe CLC.

After such events where a phase jump in the SERCOS cycle can occur, there is also a reconfiguration interrupt on the fieldbus card. This stepsolely supports the re-establishment of a possibly violated synchronizationbetween the fieldbus card and the CLC. Such events can be:

• a reboot of the CLC (due to progression) after a SERCOS emergencyreaction

• a reboot of the CLC (due to progression) after an operating systemserror

• the switching of a DAQ in the CLC link to a link slave

Note: During the reconfiguration of the fieldbus interface, communications between master and slave is interrupted forabout six (6) seconds. Add another two (2) for a reboot!

Terminal FunctionThe new submenu ‘High speed cams’ in menu ‘Diagnosis’ displays theoutputs of the high-speed cam.

2.7 Phaseout of Functions / Hardware

- none -

2.8 Faults Cleared

Interfaces - GeneralGlobally for all interfaces (serial and parallel), three errors have beencleared.

• After an internal transmission error a serial interface can no longersporadically access parameters.

• Unallowable A/C parameters and invalid axes addresses in theconfiguration list of the data blocks sporadically generated BSF 4002(address bus error).

• With R/W access, after error code "ID no. not available", an internaldata transmission is started. This generates a second reactionaffecting the same command telegram and also possiblemisinformation.

ARCNET InterfaceTwo errors were cleared that affected the ARCNET interface.

• When moving from the ARCNET interface to another, BSF 5403sporadically occurred.

• If phase progression was activated while the SERCOS ring wasinterruped, then the CLC D remained in an infinite loop specifyingphase 0 until the SERCOS ring could be closed again.During this time (there are no limits) the ARCNET interface remainedblocked. Thus, no A/C parameters could be either write or readaccessed.

Fieldbus InterfaceHigh and low bytes were transposed in the I/O data of the fieldbusinterface.

3964R InterfaceThe attempt to write a list into a long list during internal transmissionmeant that the CLC-D sporadically generated an error in the sequencefrom normal and following telegrams (synchronization error 2) eventhough the master maintains the correct order.

Dual Port RAM (CLC-P)An incorrect phase changeover due to a global error (e.g., minimum /maximum value violation) meant that the CLC generated a local transitionerror.

3.5 Changed and Expanded Functions

Downwards Compatibility to SY*-03VRSAs is presently the case, SynTop 03VRS can be used to parametrizeSYNAX firmware versions 03 and 04. What has been added is thesupport capabilities for SYNAX firmware version 05VRS. SynTopautomatically recognizes on its own which firmware is given and thenbranches into the relevant dialogs.

This means that for all SYNAX firmwares only one SynTop is needed.

Known Firmware

New:SynTop knows drive firmware DIAX03/04-ELS-05VRS.

If the user wants to open a dialog window of an unknown firmwareversion, then it is differentiated as to whether it is a completely unknownfirmware type or an unknown firmware version of a known firmwarefamily. In the former case, SynTop branches, after positivelyacknowledging the message, into the commissioning dialog of firmwareversion DIAX03/04-ELS-05VRS. In the latter case, it goes into thecommissioning dialog of the given firmware family.

Online HelpNo online help is supplied to the drives and to SYNAX with SynTop. Thepresently available helps for the drive (DIAX03-ELS-04VRS, DIAX03-ELS-05VRS and ECODRIVE-SSE-03VRS) and SYNAX 04VRS as well asSYNAX 05VRS can be installed separately and are then detected andsupported by SynTop.

Commissioning Dialogs

Menu item „CLC (host) communication"This menu item was expanded. Not only can basic settings now beperformed, but if SYNAX 05VRS is used, then the fieldbusses („Profibus“and „Interbus-S“) and the data blocks of ARCNet and 3964R protocolscan be parametrized.

If a CLC-P is used, then dialog „CLC (host) communication - basicsettings“ can be used to set the data formats for communications via theDP-RAM.

Parameter ExpansionDialog "Error reaction - drive" was expanded with parameters "Velocityramp 1" and "Command Value smoothing time constant" for drivefirmware DIAX03/04-ELS-04VRS.

Setting Base ParametersMenu item „Set base parameters“ was replaced with menu item „Loadbase parameters“ and moved into menu „File“. It is also possible to loadbase parameters into specific dialogs.

Internal I/O DiagnosesThe diagnosis dialogs now support all diagnosis messages of SYNAX05VRS as well.

3.6 Faults Cleared

Refreshing the Firmware CacheThe firmware cache was not refreshed during an offline setting of SynTopand renewed online going. As a result, incorrect dialogs were displayedafter the drive firmware was replaced in SynTop offline mode followed byonline going.
