College Application Update

To start and activate your account, you will be asked to input your email address and mobile contact number, this must be the same as

End of Term Ambassadors Trip Fayed Victory

Huge congratulations to Fayed for participating in his first amateur boxing bout on Saturday 16th December. Although this was a skills bout - meaning no victor is named - Fayed controlled the centre of the ring throughout and was by far the more dominant and aggressive fighter, landing some excellent shots. Fayed continues to approach his studies with the same discipline and work ethic that is required to be successful in the boxing gym.

Please could all parents and carers double check that their children have completed their College Applications via the UCAS Progress on-line system. Myself, and staff, have been assisting Year 11 students in completion of this throughout the school day at various times over recent weeks, but there remain some students who either have not completed this, or who have not started. Thank you very much for your support with this. A reminder of the web-site: www.ucasprogress.com/search all students should have details of their usernames and passwords.

Thank you Mrs Newton Learning Resources, Work Experience & Post 16 Co-ordinator

On the penultimate day of last term, those students who had been

awarded the Ambassador’s badge - for modelling exemplary conduct and character over the course of the academic year thus far – were rewarded with a trip to Tenpin, where they engaged in bowling and laser quest. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day and a deserved reward for young people who are assets to the school, and an absolute joy to teach!

Year 10 Work Experience

Please could all parents and carers assist their children in making their work experience phone calls. Contact details have been distributed via ‘Student & Parent Agreement Forms’ which need to be signed by student and parent/carer and returned to me as soon as possible please. Students who do not complete and return these forms will have to remain in school, and forfeit their placement, due to legal requirements surrounding insurance. Thank you very much for your support with this. Mrs Newton Learning Resources, Work Experience & Post 16 Co-ordinator

Traineeships

A traineeship is an ideal opportunity for teenagers and young adults who are motivated to get a job, but lack the skills and experience that employers are looking for.

A Traineeship is a training course which includes work experience which helps unlock the potential of young people aged 16-24.

Traineeships help young people by preparing them for their future careers and helping them become ‘work ready’.

New School Lockers ‘How do I get one?’

Our new lockers have finally arrived and are now ready for student use. Lockers are not compulsory but are provided as an option to support students’ organisation of equipment. Our locker system is provided by an external company called Secure Locker Rentals. Causeway School do not therefore manage any aspect of the system but can support students if they have trouble accessing their individual lockers. Booking, payment and information regarding lockers should therefore be made directly to Secure Locker Rentals.

Details about How to Rent your Locker have been sent home in a letter handed out to students over the last week. Additional copies can be obtained from their Key Stage offices or reception. Additional information is outlined below:

you will be required to select a rental option for a full academic year – Secure Locker Rental have reduced their locker rental price for 2017/18 from £18 to £12 to reflect the late provision of the lockers.

you will be asked to select a ‘Locker Block’ – please can you select the block which correlates to your son’s/daughter’s House (you can check this by the colour of their tie).

you will be asked to select a ‘Locker’ – your son/daughter may wish to explore where individual locker numbers are positioned in the bank before you make a final locker selection.

Causeway School are unable to provide our own locker system as the cost of maintaining and managing this resource is unsustainable for us. Lockers are administered on a first come first served basis. If you are unsuccessful in renting a locker and demand is high we will work with you to provide more lockers through Secure Locker Rental.
