Dear Parents:
Happy Summer! I hope everyone is enjoying this
family time together, along with some rest and relax-
ation! Here at school, we are wrapping up the end of
the 2016-17 school year and getting ready to plan the
beginning of the 2017-18 school year.
In this newsletter please take the time to look over the
information, since this is one of our main sources of
communication to our Lehman Catholic families. In
this newsletter and future parent newsletters, you will
find many upcoming calendar dates, updates to hand-
books and policies, new changes taking place around
the school, and many more details throughout the
school year.
Also, feel free to call, email, or stop in at the school,
if you have any questions. Many of us will be at the
school this summer, during school hours (8-3:00 PM)
and would be happy to see you and help you in any
way.
Many blessings to each of you!
Denise Stauffer, Principal/CEO

Friday evening, the Sophomore/Senior Dinner was held at the Caserta Center in Piqua. The Sophomore Class annually honors the seniors for their curricular and co-curricular leadership by providing them with dinner prior to the Baccalaureate Mass. Sophomore Class President, Allison Bornhorst thanked the members of the class for sharing their talents and for being good role models for the school community.
Immediately following the sophomore/senior dinner on May 26th, the seniors dressed in their caps and gowns for the Baccalaureate Mass at St. Boniface Church in Piqua. Father James Riehle was joined by
two other priests (Father Thomas Bolte, and Father Steve Shoup) in celebrating the liturgy. The seniors also presented their parents with the class flower, a white rose.

earning valedictorian or saluta-torian status. Those students included Jacob Schmiesing (Valedictorian, 4.0, National Merit Commended), William Hoersten (Salutatorian and 4.0), Elijah Baker (4.0) and Elizabeth Pax(4.0).
Graduation ceremonies were held Sunday afternoon, May 28th for the class of 2017. The ceremonies, attended by more than 300 people, included speeches by Valedictorian Jacob Schmiesing, Salutatorian William Hoersten, and the school’s Principal/CEO Denise Stauffer.

There have been a few changes to the dress code for next year. The new dress code is attached to this parent newsletter. Please read over the new dress code and feel free to contact Mr. Dunlap if you have any questions.
A few notes about the new dress code.
The new dress code was created to make it easier for students to follow, for teachers to enforce and for parents in their shopping.
The new dress code applies to all students next year.
Please note the changes requiring polo shirts Monday-Thursday.
Hoodies are not allowed to be worn Monday-Thursday.
Uniform pants and shorts are no longer requi-red to be purchased through Educational Apparel. However, guidelines are provided to assure the pants purchased and worn still follow our uniform policy.
Every Friday will be a School Spirit Day. On Fridays, students are encouraged to wear their Lehman team and club wear or any other Lehman top along with uniform pants.
The new dress code was created by a committee of teachers and Mr. Dunlap. Then it was introduced to our Student Council members. Student Council members were encouraged to provide feedback before this new dress code went into effect. I welcome students to provide feedback during the school year if they have any concerns, comments or recommendations.
Educational Apparel will be at Lehman on July 28 from Noon to 6pm. They will be selling school uniform items at that time. School uniform items can also be purchased on their website at http://www.educationalapparel.com

Have you considered hosting a foreign student? Such an expe-rience can be very rewarding to the host family and to the foreign exchange student. It sometimes can be an experience that lasts a lifetime. These students are covered by insurance, have their own spending money, and pay their own tuition. We currently have international students from Spain currently interested in attending Lehman and looking for host families for the 2017-18 school year. We are currently working with an International Student Exchange Program (ASSE) to place students for the 2017-18 school year. Families hosting an exchange student for
the school year and attending Lehman do receive a $2000.00 tuition discount. If you have an interest in hosting a foreign student, please contact me at school. If you would like to speak with one of our families who have hosted a student over the pre-vious years, please let me know and I can put them in contact with you.
