IDOT Trains for the Winter On October 27th, Illinois Department of Transporta-tion Region 9 held its annual Fall training seminar at John A. Logan College. This year the event was held in O’Neil Auditorium. The training was to prepare IDOT winter workers for the upcoming winter hazard work season. The seminar introduced new regulations and covered materials such as temporary work, em-ployment benefits, winter hazards, snow and ice re-moval for Illinois’ highway network system during the winter months and working in emergency conditions.
The training was part of a working relationship the Center for Business & Industry enjoys with IDOT. Assistant Secretary David Phelps believes such a rela-tionship is important to the training needs of IDOT. “Their facilities are exactly what we need,” stated Phelps. “When we have groups as large as what we had this time, it’s always nice to know John A. Logan has the space and the staff ready to accommodate us,” added Phelps. More than 200 IDOT Region 9 em-ployees attended the training.
IDOT employees use O’Neil Auditorium for their Fall/Winter training and preparation.
