Environmental Tips from

CBS STUDIO CENTER

CBS Studio Center continues its efforts tohave a positive impact on the environment. In May of this year the Studio hosted “CBSEYE on the Environment” on Stage 15. Thisevent introduced over 50 environmentallyconscious vendors to several CBS businessunits, employees, and other non-CBSproduction companies. These vendorssupply products and services that will helpsupport CBS’s efforts to minimize itsenvironmental footprint and become amore sustainable operation day to day.

Another energy savings project CBS StudioCenter has begun is installing sensors on thelarge loading doors of stages so the airconditioning will automatically shut off ifthese doors are left open. It requires a lot ofelectricity to keep our stages cool especiallyduring the summer months. In fact, onaverage, the electricity required to cool astage is enough to power 15 average sizedhomes so everyone can help theenvironment by reminding the folks on astage to please keep the big door closed asmuch as possible.

The 4-1-1 on 9-1-1.

If you have ever accidentally dialed 9-1-1 on your Studiotelephone, you probably received a phone call from ourSecurity Department asking if there is an emergency or ifeverything is okay. Our studio telephone system has asoftware program that recognizes anytime someone dials9-1-1 or 9-9-1-1. Since you must first dial a “9” for anoutside line then a “1” before the area code it is very easyto hit the “1” twice. This misdial then sends a message toSecurity stating there was a 9-1-1 call from that phone. Ofcourse, if you have a real emergency and purposely dial9-1-1, the software will let Security know where the call ismade so that we can direct the emergency respondersdirectly to your location.

We do recommend that you call 5555 for all emergenciesand our Medical Department or Security Department willmake the 9-1-1 call for you. That way our MedicalDepartment can respond right away and we will know whereto guide the responders when they arrive.
