Week 3, Kindergarten Overview: You will be exploring around your house to find different kinds of textures. You will discover that when you put a piece of paper over a texture and color with a crayon on the paper, you will be able to create that texture right on your paper!! Estimated Time: 20 minutes Materials that are Needed: Paper, pencil, eraser, any coloring tools you have including, but not limited to crayons, colored pencils. Crayons work best for this one! Things to know: Textures are like patterns that you can feel because the patterns go down into the surface or are raised from the surface. Idea Examples: Things that have textures include leaves, woodgrain, fabrics, -- look for things that have a pattern that isn’t flat. Tasks: 1. Put your piece of paper on top of something that has a raised pattern. Holding your paper very steady, color on top of your paper using pressure on your crayon. Do you see the pattern showing up? 2. Try different kinds of textures and patterns that you find. 3. Fill your paper with different colors and textures!!

Overview: You will be exploring around your house to find different kinds of textures. You will discover that when you put a piece of paper over a texture and color with a crayon on the paper, you will be able to create that texture right on your paper!!

Estimated Time: 20 minutes Materials that are Needed: Paper, pencil, eraser, any coloring tools you have including, but not limited to crayons, colored pencils. Crayons work best for this one!

Things to know: Textures are like patterns that you can feel because the patterns go down into the surface or are raised from the surface.

Tasks: 1. Put your piece of paper on top of something that has a raised pattern.

Holding your paper very steady, color on top of your paper using pressure on your crayon. Do you see the pattern showing up?

2. Try different kinds of textures and patterns that you find.3. Fill your paper with different colors and textures!!
