PRESIDENT’S INVITATION
On behalf of the Committee of Management, it gives me great pleasure to invite members and colleagues to attend the 2020 CCAV
Country Conference, to be held at Brooklands of Mornington located in the heart of the Mornington Peninsula. Accommodation rates have been secured by CCAV and we advise that accommodation rooms at the venue will be subject to availability – (first come, first served). This event will take place from Friday 1st May to Saturday
2nd May 2020. Our dynamic presentations are designed to capture several aspects of practical ideas that delegates may adopt in their cemeteries, and the program will feature positive, relevant and engaging business sessions, with Friday evening concluding with a conference dinner. Our extended thanks go to the Rye Cemetery Trust for hosting this conference, as well as the Sponsors Expo and cemetery tours. The Expo at Rye Cemetery will provide an opportunity to mingle with sponsors, tour the cemetery and enjoy the great outdoors of the Mornington Peninsula. This day will provide the opportunity to tour three
local cemeteries, ending with a cocktail evening to further enhance networking at the conference. We invite you to participate and attend this year’s CCAV Country Conference. Judith Voce, President, Cemeteries & Crematoria Association of Victoria (CCAV)

CEMETERY TOURS
Rye Cemetery and Memorial Gardens Rye was proclaimed a township in 1861 and the cemetery was gazetted in 1868. The oldest identifiable headstone is dated 1859 and a number of other burials are known to have taken place prior to 1859. There are a number of rose gardens to view within the cemetery, and the rose gardens allow up to triple interment of cremated remains. The Trust is comprised of volunteer Trust members predominantly from the Mornington Peninsula community and more specifically from the Rye district. The Trust currently has 8 members who meet quarterly to decide on the day-to-day management and long term perpetual maintenance of the cemetery and memorial gardens.
Dromana Cemetery This is one of the most popular cemeteries on the Peninsula. The main entrance to the cemetery is on Arthurs Seat Road. For security reasons the cemetery gates are closed at sunset and are opened at sunrise. Unfortunately there are no longer any new grave sites available at Dromana, but arrangements can be made for a memorial on the cemetery's Memorial Wall.
Sorrento Cemetery Located within the Mornington Peninsula, Sorrento Cemetery is a haven for families wishing to honour and celebrate life within this ideal coastal setting. Established circa 1886, Sorrento Cemetery is an historic cemetery, characterised by its beach location and closeness to the community. The 3.8 hectares (8.1 acres) of tranquil lawn and gardens, offer a peaceful sanctuary for families to reflect.
SPONSORS EXPO An opportunity to meet and greet our valued sponsors at the Sponsors Expo where they will be demonstrating their products and services to you in a dedicated sponsors segment.
