NOTE 1: The Networking Academy - Image & Hardware Support Document lists the tested and supported IOS images for each hardware platform that provide expected and consistent results for the lab exercises. Routers and switches always ship with the latest IOS version and it may be necessary to move them to the tested and supported IOS image. The NetAcad Maintenance program allows instructors to download the recommended IOS image at no cost. The Image & Hardware Support Document and information on signing up for NetAcad Maintenance can be found in the Equipment Information section of Cisco NetSpace (Program Menu / Equipment Information / NetAcad Maintenance Folder) or Academy Connection (Equipment Information on right hand menu / Maintenance Service and Support Page).

NOTE 2: Console cables are no longer included with the purchase of new network devices (routers, etc.), so they have been added in the optional equipment section. Our recommendation is to purchase one CAB-CONSOLE-USB cable with every ISR-G2 router and one CAB-CONSOLE-RJ45 cable with all other devices (switches and ASAs).

Note 3 - EMI switches like the 3560 specified here come with the required Advanced IP Services license. Standard image devices (aka SMI, IPB) require a license upgrade with part number CD-3560-EMI=. Used equipment purchased from a third party require a relicensing kit with part number LL-3560-EMI=. Once you have one of those licenses in place, you will be able to download the latest IP Services images for the device from the Cisco.com website using a valid service contract.

Note 4 - (only for Academies hosting a NDG NETLAB solution for other Academies) - Cisco WS-C3560V2-24PS switches ("V2" models) do not respond to a console break signal, regardless of "enable break" setting, and therefore do not work with NETLAB automation (reference Cisco bug CSCsv92241). NDG is working with Cisco to resolve the problem. Workarounds: use WS-C3560-24PS (non-"V2" version) switches if available, or turn off automation by using the Generic Console Device setting.

Note 5 - The orderable part number for the CCP software is ISR-CCP-CD. The image code is supplied for your reference. The images can be downloaded from the Cisco.com website if you have a valid service agreement or are enrolled in NetAcad Maintenance.
