GREEN DORM PROJECT
Design proposal for student dormitory hallways
Observed student social behavior in dormitory corridors and saw opportunity to create a more pleasant space by utilizing natural lighting and ventilation. Lightwells direct sunlight into mid-level corridors, which features built-in bench. Vents and operable clerestory windows allow for natural ventilation of corridors and student rooms, even when they are not at home.
Analysed design using industrial daylighting software and performed fluid mechanics analysis of ventilation scheme. Concept was implemented in final architectural proposal and mentiond in Wired Magazine, August 2007.

Concept based on geometric variation of rectilinear forms that frame view of Pacific Ocean while responding to site topography.

WALDEN PROJECT
Objective was to create a refuge on a steep sloped site with one tree, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Positioned tree to utilize shading and oriented retreat to maximize view. Truss and cable structure springs from stone foundation anchored in hillside.

STANFORD STUDENT STORE
Using first-hand observations of foot traffic patterns, consumer research and historical merchant data, successfully collaborated with store operator to build the case for relocating the Stanford Student Store. Developed conceptual design and branding for store, which features innovative pivoting shelving that doubled as display cases. New store was recently completed and has seen a 15% increase in sales over the previous location.

Objective was to create a storm screen for an exterior fireplace on a waterfront property. Design inspired by surrounding oak trees. Fabricated by master craftsman using wrought iron and solid bronze plating.

STORAGE BENCH
Objective was to create a sturdy, compact bench that would double as a storage unit for a cramped apartment. Constructed using Metro Shelving, plywood and fabric from local merchant. Entire unit can be disassembled and transported easily, making it ideal for itinerant college students and young professionals.

Objective was to create a table that would be able to epxand and accomodate large parties. Constructed using discarded IKEA frame and sustainably grown mahogany. Narrow width allows for easy cross-table conversation and high clearance allows for slightly lower and more comfortable table height.
