Hardware Installation

System Requirements• Internet Explorer 5.x or above• CPU: Pentium III, 800 MHz or above (Required for use with IP surveillance software)• Memory Size: 128 MB (256 MB recommended)• VGA card resolution: 800x600 or above

Connect the Ethernet CableIt is recommended that the DCS-5300W be connected toan Ethernet cable for initial configuration. Connect one endof the Ethernet cable to the network cable connectorlocated on the Internet Camera’s back panel and attachthe other end to a router, switch, or gateway on thenetwork.

Attach the Antennas to the CameraIf you will be using the DCS-5300W in a wireless network,attach the antennas to the back of the camera by turningthe antennas in the clockwise direction until snug, do notover tighten.

If you connect this camera directly to a PC, you will need a cross-overEthernet cable. If you plug the camera into ahub or router, you will be able to use the cableincluded with your camera.

Power source is confirmed when the LED Power Indicator on theInternet Camera is illuminated.

When you have a proper connection, the LED (Light Emitting Diode) on the front of thecamera will change from red to green. The light may blink on and off and your computermay show an intermittant loss of connectivity, this is normal until you have configuredyour camera.

Attach the External Power SupplyAttach the external power supply to the DCpower input connector located on theInternet Camera’s backpanel (labeled DC12V) and connect it to an AC power outlet.

Attach the A/V cable to the A/V out connec-tor if you wish to connect the DCS-5300W toyour TV set.

Attach the red RCA connector to the “video”connector on your TV

Configuring your camera with IPInstaller

Attach the black RCA cable to the “audio”connector on your TV set.

Click on IP Installer

Insert the DCS-5300W CD into theCD-ROM drive of your PC.

Highlight the MAC address

Click on the Link button

If the IP Installer does not display anydevices, you will need to find a toolsmall enough to fit into the reset holeand softly press down a switch for 2cycles (the red and green LEDs willblink continuously and stop twice). Letgo when the red LED starts to flash thesecond time.

* A DHCP server is a device that supplies IP Addresses to itsclients that are on the same network

The IP Installer will now show a MACaddress of the DCS-5300W and anIP Address (which may or may not becorrect depending on what you haveyour DCS-5300W connected to.) Ifyou have a DHCP* server on yournetwork, there will be a valid IPAddress displayed here. After a fewseconds, the “assigned” column willdisplay yes, indicating that thedisplayed IP Address is now assignedto the camera.

Click Apply

If you have a DHCP server on yournetwork, you will already have a validIP Address in these fields.If you will be using the DCS-5300W ina wireless network, the following pageexplains the importance of each fieldand what is required for you to beable to connect to your network. If you do not have a DHCP server onyour network, fill out your IP Ad-dress, Subnet mask, Gateway andat least 1 DNS IP Address respec-tively on this page. If you do not knowwhat to put in these fields, pleasecontact your System Administrator oryour Internet Service Provider.

Leave the box titled This camera can be found by installer whenever itstarts up unchecked to avoid running this install application each time youboot up the DCS-5300W. Check this box if you need to change IP addressthe next time the DCS-5300W boots up.

After you click on the Link button,IP Installer will automatically openyour Internet browser to the IPAddress of the DCS-5300W, in thisexample it is: http:// 192.168.0.146Your DCS-5300W may have adifferent IP Address.

Click on Configuration to set up yourwireless settings for the DCS-5300Wto be consistent with your network.

Setting up your wireless configuration for the DCS-5300WThe DCS-5300W is pre-configured to connect to any D-Link wireless routers andadapters by default. If the settings are changed on the other devices, then the DCS-5300W will need to be configured to match those settings also.

Type in your SSID and Connection typeconsistent with your network. (If you areunsure, please contact your networkadministrator).

If you have an access point, choose Infrastruc-ture, or Ad Hoc if you will be connecting yourDCS-5300W directly to your PC

You can enable encryption here (up to 256-bit).Once you have filled the encrytion box (onlyone needs to be filled if you will not be usingthe camera in another network with differentencryption), check the Data encryption box.16-bit requires 10 hex, or 5 ASCII charactors128-bit requires 26 hex, or 13 ASCII charactors256-bit requires 58 hex, or 29ASCII charactors.

Preamble Type- select Short or LongPreamble. The Preamble Type defines thelength of the CRC (Cyclic RedundancyCheck) block for communication between theDCS-5300W and roaming wireless adapters.Please see the manual for details.

You can choose different transmission rates toapply if you need to restrict the camera’sbandwidth.

Click Next

Choose the channel that is the same as yourother wireless devices that you would like toconnect to, although this is not very critical ifyou have the rest of your configuration correct.The DCS-5300W will automatically insert thecorrect channel for you.

Viewing Your Internet Camera

The installation and configuration of theDCS-5300W Internet Camera is now complete.

Switching to wireless mode - To switch to wireless mode, simply disconnect theEthernet cable and reboot the DCS-5300W by removing and reconnecting the powersupply either from the back of the unit or from the wall power outlet.

Enter the administrativepassword. Click Save then “X”at the top right-hand corner ofyour browser to close the page.

At this point, we highly recommend that you click on Configuration >Tools > and thenAdmin from the Home page to set up a password for security purposes.
