The cooperative movement encountered many challenges. One of them is the
proposed Fiscal Incentive Bill repealing tax incentive privileges of cooperatives. This
prompted the sector to sponsor a tax forum attended by 650 delegates at Bangko
Sentral ng Pilipinas, San Fernando City, La Union. Subsequently, CDA-DEO received
around 70 resolutions from cooperatives for NO REPEAL OF ARTICE 60 & 61 OF RA

Once again, the cooperative sector in Region 1 joins the nation in the celebration of the
2015 Cooperative Month. This is the time when all stakeholders gather together and undertake
various activities to promote cooperativism in the consciousness of the public and its
contribution to social, economic development and nation-building. This is also a time to
celebrate the occasion and the coops’ successes and triumphs in their organization and
business operation. A time to strengthen the camaraderie and kindred spirit among cooperators
in the region. This year’s celebration which carries the theme: “Kooperatiba: Ika-100 Taong
Pagpupugay, Tulay sa Maunlad na Buhay” is a fitting tribute to the 100th year anniversary of
cooperatives in the Philippines.
The Guest of Honor and Speaker was Hon. Benjie Oliva while Executive Director Ray R.
Elevazo gave an inspirational message. The CMC was attended by 355 cooperators who
gamely joined this year HRD. Sacred Hear Savings Cooperatives was the over-all winner in the
competition.
