The Canada Dance Festival presents, advances and celebrates Canadian dance excellence.

The CDF is a presenter of Canadian dance, a community leader and a catalyst for the development of the art form, of emerging and established artists and new audiences.

As a national organization that presents live dance performances, our activities reflect the diverse cultural and regional landscape of the country and foster a healthy and stimulating environment for community networking, artistic exchange and audience development.

Each festival is a snapshot of our history, our rich and diverse cultural experience and our Canadian stories told through dance.

1. Artistry: The artist comes first: they are the heartbeat of ourorganization and inform all aspects of our activities.

2. Community: The CDF is a generator for public engagement, acting asa bridge and meeting place for the Canadian dance community, bothlocal and national including artists, programmers and audiences.

3. Imagination: We act as platform for the celebration and explorationof current dance trends, balancing expanding artistic boundaries withpopular programming and experiences.

4. Integrity: We function with integrity and transparency, responsibleand fair in all our actions and decisions, from artistic to fiscal to outreach.

5. Innovation: Each festival is a snapshot of our history, our rich anddiverse cultural experience and our Canadian stories told through dance.

To Ignite Passion: The CDF serves as a catalyst to build engagement, commitment and enthusiasm among our many stakeholders in the evolving Canadian dance scene.

To Inspire Creativity:The CDF plays the role of initiator, collaborator and supporter of innovation in all facets of dance creation, production and artist development.

To Unify Community:The CDF acts as a principle hub for artists, producers, audiences and supporters to come together to create, develop and promote and celebrate dance in Canada.

To be Sustainable:

The CDF is committed to building a sustainable, robust organization to support the current and future directions of dance in Canada.

GOALS:

1. To strengthen our role as a leader in Canadian dance and as Canada’s premiere dance festival.

2. To engage new audiences and enliven established audiences both locally and nationally with programming with diverse appeal performed in a variety of community and theatre venues.

3. To develop a dynamic, interactive and innovative communications plan to inspire, inform and excite stakeholders.

4. To provide consistent quality educational opportunities for patrons, artists and practitioners in the field -programs that promote excellence in the art form and build audiences.

GOALS:1. To invest in the creation of new works by

established and emerging Canadian artists.

2. To profile the diverse cultural and regional landscape of Canadian dance.

3. To provide opportunities and resources for creativity and invention through exchange and mentorship, supporting both individual and collective development.

4. To offer ongoing professional development activities that support the growth and advancement of the local dance community, as well as programs that impact the national milieu.

GOALS:

1. To target and actively engage audiences, building commitment to innovation and excellence in Canadian dance.

2. To serve as a hub and essential gathering place for the Canadian dance community by providing a variety of opportunities for social, educational and networking activities.

3. To build partnerships with local, regional and national dance organizations in support of initiatives that contribute to fostering a vital and resilient dance community.

4. To establish an Artistic and Community advisory committee with broad representation to provide input on issues of national relevance.

GOALS:

1. To build a solid and diversified financial infrastructure to support continued future growth.

2. To create a substantial financial base of support from private sector sources – both local and national – that are renewed and sustained.

3. To build a solid governance infrastructure to oversee and support organizational activities.

4. To establish a staff and Board evaluation and renewal strategy.
